    I like joe and Greg Judy. They don’t lie about their jobs the proof is obvious just by looking at their land and the animals on it.

    You are far more my equal as a farmer than almost any farmer I know of, and I’m a fairly sizable organic, no till cover cropping farmer rancher with 10k acres going in to 2023. Smack dab in the middle of the corn belt. You are us, and we are you, acreage is nothing.

    This exactly what we are wanting to do! We want to add soil and create life rather then taking it away. We just started posting and moving on our own journey. Subscribed! Always looking for like minded individuals!

    Working towards getting out of the rat race and moving into a more natural life. Thank you for the knowledge and inspiration. If you have the time I'd like to ask why you chose dorper sheep over other breeds?

    • @theShepherdess
      @theShepherdess  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for commenting! Excellent meat breed, heat tolerant, the market is very good for Dorpers ($) and there is a need for breeders who will emphasize quality in their stock (what we are aiming at).
      Hope this helps!

    Nice! What would you say is the number 1 thing you learned from Joel in this interview?

    • @theShepherdess
      @theShepherdess  3 роки тому +3

      It wasn’t related to agriculture, but through this interview Joel taught me not to be a respecter of persons. Mr. Salatin treated me with so much respect. He didn’t know me, but he gave me his time and treated me like an equal. Very inspiring.

    Unfortunately your music makes your video hard to listen to. A good example of a UA-cam channel I watch is simple Alaska living. Their music is never distracting.

      Thanks very much for this feedback, Karen! A few others mentioned the same thing and I’ve taken the music down a few notches in my newer videos. 👍🏻
      Thanks for watching and I hope you’ll stick around for new content!

      Not a Karen. Your video is just poorly done with the unnecessary music.

    I don't mean to be rude but I'm trying to learn farming and that fellow just said the fuzzyiest bunch of nonsense I think maybe he was answering a different question than the one you asked

      I think you started in the wrong place. I got here because I was looking at rewilding practices to help limit diseases among livestock and crops. Self-sustaining practices. Water conservation. Rotational grazing. The benefits of organic material in soil and soil health.
      I also have a deep love for nomadic culture and keeping horses and dogs for things other than straight work. Healthy livestock practice, breeding for healthy and functional mobility/structure.
      I have less interest in making a million dollar company and more interest in keeping it simple and living life happily, less complicated after yeads of chronic health issues.
      I'm not gate keeping. Keep researching. There is a reason you gravitated towards this video over HUNDRES of others.
      It's just a complicated place to start. I would recommend starting with *edit* Greg Brown? I also LOVED ann of all trades. I think if your just looking at it from a monetary perspective it can be really hard to see the point of all this. It's important, but everything you do in farming is going to cost.
      I gravitated towards the Britain's Rewilding Project channels, and I really want to eventually do some work with vultures, this might change. Who knows.
      I found I disliked the way some family channels homestead, but I do find their information useful. Like why you might choose one species of bird or pig or cattle over another. I have my own opinions on swales and when some people use them over others, etc. I think it gets easier to understand the more you find why you want to do what you do. I also think it's a really long process.
      I have changed my mind so many times, and I haven't been able to get further than my mums veggie garden and herbs. I was looking at getting chickens, but I might be switching jobs and wouldn't want to put that strain on my family. So we will see.

    Please don't take this wrong. This is just helpful criticism and my opinion but, statistically speaking if one person thinks it others do as well.... You generally speak in two different ways. One is this theatrical way and the other is partially dramatic and partially what I presume to be how you normally speak when calm and collective. I understand that you are an expert or at least have experience in marketing and can appreciate that you are marketing yourself, trying to keep the attention of your general audience and get the attention of potential audiences. I assume that's why you speak in such a dramatic over exaggerated way during your entro and sporadically throughout your videos. But, I disagree with this method. I think you should concentrate more on clear and beneficial content rather than using theatrical dialogue. Because no matter how great the content many people may become annoyed by the suspenseful unrealistic, non-natural manner of speaking but instead be more influenced and attracted to a warm, calm and welcoming female voice than what your doing. I can't stand it but I enjoy your content so I subscribe and watch every stream. But I skip through every episode, I skip through almost every time you speak unless it's directional. I also don't share your videos because I wouldn't want to annoy my friends and community with this form of streaming. I'm not telling you all this to break you down or make you feel bad or anything condescending. I'm simply providing my perspective because I like your attitude and approach to farming as well as hope you inspire more young people to follow on your footsteps. I just hope you're not pushing many of them away by speaking in a way that reminds them of their mothers when their mothers are disciplining them as I perceive it to sound.
    Love you Sheppardess. Look forward to more streams. Keep up the good work

      Thanks for the comment and for supporting my channel! My vids are more educationally oriented which is why my tone is more instructional than interpersonal. I don’t know that my tone will change, but the fact that you took the time to share your thoughts means a lot! Thank you :).

      I find she speaks very fluently.
      Many people in Canada speak with an abundance of fluctuation. I believe I read an article that we are one of the most fluctuating speakers?
      To over pronounce certain words to get a point across is actually very good for teaching, as it directs the learners' attention to important words and phrases.
      But, based on how you want this woman to speak more "feminine". I'm going to say that you probably have never noticed this while watching a man's video, where they do the same thing with their voice.
      That and the two-faced, back handed complement. 'Great videos, but I would never share with friends or family because I wouldn't want them to be annoyed.' I think you are just disrespectful.
      I also think you feel intimidated and don't like that you're taking information from a competent young woman, and in order to compensate for that, you need to degrade her fine work. The only way you feel better is to make her feel less than.
      That lady is well educated, business professional, healthy, and a wonderful professor with a lovely speaking voice. And some people can not stand it.
      Don't worry. Jealousy is nothing to be ashamed about. Except when you let it show its ugly face.
