I see these things selling for anywhere up to a grand on ebay, yet they're literally a twenty dollar 'vortex tube', nothing more. D:

@baspr0mpt - Thank you for the comment. The most accurate pricing for our Cabinet Cooler Systems is easily found directly on our site at www.EXAIR.com. There are several factors that go into our Cabinet Cooler Systems that do not show up in a bench-made vortex tube. While these do operate off the same physics principle as a vortex tube they are engineered and designed to be an efficient use of compressed air, maintain NEMA integrity of the electrical enclosure, and be easy to install. On top of those factors our systems have all been tested to UL and CE standard to ensure these meet their standards for commercial and industrial equipment.
As far as the topic of this video is concerned the panel was rated for a NEMA type 4, 4X environment, a standard vortex tube mounted to this panel would not permit the panel to retain the NEMA rating. A simple vortex tube would not distribute the cold air throughout the panel to provide even cooling like a Cabinet Cooler with our cold air distribution kit offers. Additionally, a vent would need to be installed to permit flow out of the panel but not in. This would have to be sized correctly as to not apply any backpressure onto the cold outlet of the vortex tube that goes above 3 psig as that would affect the cooling produced by the tube. All EXAIR Cabinet Cooler Systems are designed to exhaust the same volumetric flow of air they are putting into the cabinet while maintaining optimal performance for the vortex principle. In addition, the thermostat control and cold air distribution kit ensure you are only utilizing compressed air when the panel needs to be cooled and that the interior of the panel is evenly cooled throughout rather than one central point.
