Thanks, Ken! There are still a number of Hitchcock’s films I don’t yet have on physical but building it up over time. Looking forward to that Vol. 2 set on Tuesday. Can’t wait to see how those films look in 4K! North by Northwest and Shadow of a Doubt are a couple of titles you might consider watching but whatever films of Hitchcock you jump into, it’ll be a fun ride.

Great collection of Hitchcock films, James. I'm really looking forward to Volume 2 on 4K--just got the shipping notification today.
I'd love to see a 4K upgrade for North By Northwest. Fun trivia about that is when I visited Mt. Rushmore, they had a presenter about the history of the monument. They referred to North By Northwest and said Hitchcock was forced to have the crew build a replica of the monument just for the film because it was illegal to show the real monument in the movie because it involved a crime. I thought that was pretty interesting and speaks volumes about the quality of work that went into the film. You'd never know it wasn't the real Rushmore.
Thanks for sharing your collection and I really enjoyed the video. Have a great weekend. 👋👋

North by Northwest is my favourite Hitchcock film and I also am hoping for a 4K edition. You have an awesome collection James… the master would be pleased! As someone who loves films that take place on trains, The Lady Vanishes is so much fun! I am hoping to get the second classics collection soon. The first collection is impossible to top though :)

Hello, Matt! North By Northwest is a great film that I too am looking forward to a 4K release for. I enjoy train movies and The Lady Vanishes definitely fits the bill for that.
The first collection is hard to top but based on what I’ve seen from Vol. 2 - wow. I think people are really going to love this set too 😊.

Hi James and it's always great to talk about Hitchcock. For some reason, "The Lodger" is still missing from my collection but that should be remedied during this year's July sale. Back in the day, Criterion's Laserdisc releases included the Hitchcock films "Blackmail", "North by Northwest", "Sabotage", "Secret Agent" and "Young and Innocent". Any or all of those would be great to see in the near future. Cheers.

I got the Hitchcock Ultimate blu ray collection for Christmas and I love it! I definitely need to get more of his films but I love the box set. Rear Window is probably my favorite film of his but Psycho is great, I really enjoyed Rope and even the Trouble with Harry was a fun watch!

OtakuAutumn, I love Rear Window too. Great Hitchcock film, along with Psycho and Rope. Rope and Rear Window both mostly take place in a confined space which is neat and examples of how Hitch can build suspense even in those settings.

Hey James. I’m also a BIG Hitchcock fan. I don’t know if you have seen all his films but I’m surprised a few great ones are missing from your collection, notably Suspicion, Strangers on a Train, Rope, Frenzy and Shadow of a Doubt (which you’ll get if you pick up Vol 2). I Confess is also with a look. Following The Birds his powers started to wane and with the exception of Frenzy I don’t tend to rewatch his later films. My overall favourite - Vertigo on 4K - is just beautiful. I think a good 4K remaster of Rope would be do the film justice unlike the blu ray.

There is a Kino Blu-Ray of Hitchcock's BLACKMAIL which began as a silent, but then became Britain's first complete sound film. The disc contains both the silent and sound version, and the problems in making the transition.

Kino has put out a number of his British films on bluray like Murder!, Blackmail, Number Seventeen and they just released Rich and Strange which is a fascinating film, very odd. They also have a five film set with some of his lesser British films.

Murder! is a strange little film for 1930 as well, very interesting. Number Seventeen I haven’t seen in probably ten years but it’s definitely one of his lesser sound films. The first half drags but the second half is more interesting and has a nice set piece utilizing miniatures.

I started collecting Hitchcock’s films at the start of this year … all that is left to complete the collection is The Pleasure Garden … patiently waiting for a BFI restored version to be released (hopefully). I have not watched every title yet, Rear Window is my favorite so far. I will definitely be picking up Volume 2. I recommend checking out the Brenton Film site Hitchcock collector guides. Did you ever watch the TV series ‘Alfred Hitchcock Presents’ and ‘The Alfred Hitchcock Hour’? If you are interested in restorations, I also recommend checking out the recent Warner Archive release of ‘The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm’. Awesome month ahead :)

I have every Hitchcock talkie on dvd or bluray, I love some of his lesser films, Foreign correspondent is brilliant, the umbrellas, the plane crash and the windmill scenes, I love stage fright too, very under estimated, Saboteur and the scene on the statue of liberty, I can only think of a couple that I've only watched once or twice like Mr and Mrs Smith and Under Capricorn both are dull, for a director that made so many films to only have a couple of misfires is exceptional, keep up the good work all the way from northern Ireland.

Greetings from the southern U.S., Laura, and hope you are doing well over in Ireland! I agree that Hitchcock’s filmography is quite remarkable in the quantity of quality content he created over multiple decades. I recently watched Stage Fright with the recent Warner Archive release and loved it. I have not seen Under Capricorn yet but have heard it is not that great. Looking forward to that Vol. 2 set coming soon. Have a great weekend!

Hello again, You have to watch Foreign Correspondent it's superb ,it's in my top ten Hitchcock, I'm weird but i found Vertigo overrated to be honest ,Foreign Correspondent hasn't been released on Blu-ray here in the UK ,it's on Criterion in the US . You need to to a top 10 or 15 of his films, and im betting once you watch it it will be in the top 10.

Yes, I absolutely love North by Northwest. The G.O.A.T of espionage. I believe it was the first blockbuster and action film ever made. James Bond and the Mission Impossible series except the 2nd and 3rd owe a debt to it. You have a great collection and I've since seen your updated ones in May. I have the Alfred Hitchcock Essentials Collection, Criterion versions of Notorious, The 39 Steps, The Lady Vanishes, and Foreign Correspondent all gorgeous transfers! Then theres the blu rays of The Man Who Knew Too Much remake, Frenzy, Saboteur and just bought Family Plot, a pleasant gem for his last film aided by a screenplay by Ernest Lehman! I have 2 questions for you, do you think Torn Curtain and Topaz are worth buying for $8.99 each? And what are your top 15 favorite Hitchcock films?

Hello, there! Always great to hear from another Hitchcock film enthusiast 😀. I love North by Northwest as well. Amazing film. $8.99 sounds like a great price for a Hitch film, especially on blu-ray. My top 15 favorite Hitch films? Great question. Psycho, Vertigo, Notorious, Rear Window, The Birds, and Rebecca would rank at the top of such list for sure (would have to think of which others would be in the rest of the 15).
