Happy World Pharmacists Day from The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (2023)

Today, 25 September, is World Pharmacists Day.
‘Pharmacy’ encompasses a HUGE number of different roles, both patient-facing and also behind the scenes. Did you know that at Rotherham Hospital, our Pharmacy Aseptics unit produces all of our intravenous cancer treatments in-house?
This year’s theme for World Pharmacists Day is ‘Pharmacy strengthening health systems’ - so working in collaboration with some of our fantastic Pharmacists here at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, we produced this video for you, our followers. Yusuf, Suhani, and the Aseptics team are giving you an exclusive, behind-the-scenes glimpse into our Aseptic unit where high-risk treatments are produced.
Pharmacists are the reason people get the most from their medications, they use their expertise and knowledge to make sure that medications used are safe and effective. Moreover, they play a vital role in contributing to the NHS workforce to improve the safe usage of medicines, playing a part in advising people on how to take suitable medications correctly, and ensuring safe prescribing practices throughout the Trust.
So, Happy World Pharmacists Day to our fantastic pharmacy colleagues within our Trust - thank you for all that you do! If you ever happen to visit Rotherham Hospital or your community pharmacy for treatment, make sure to thank your pharmacist - not just today, but every day!
