@Bob the Breeder For saying be human??? To stop looking for human interaction from inanimate objects? all ya'll are insane. You have family, you have friends, you have SOMETHING. a robot is not a warm handshake, an impassioned speech, nor is it idle chitchat.... It's a machine. Synthetic. Lifeless.
The only thing I can picture, with those robots that mimic animals, the dragonfly, the underwater one, is how are they going to keep actual animals from eating them? especially that deep in the ocean, i'm sure most hunting tactics are swallow first, ask questions never
That’s a good point! Many animals go by smell, so that might not be too much of an issue for some of them. We could probably add certain colors, patterns, and smells to them depending on their environment to make it more clear to predators that this isn’t food. Similar to the idea behind those stickers used to keep birds from flying into windows
Unsurprisingly, much of our innovation is coming from observing how other creatures work. I think we will make huge leap forward when we transition to technology that is capable of establishing an equilibrium with its environment rather than acting as a perfect bubble, as that's how all living things work. We could create tiny pumps to maintain equilibrium and generate chemical gradients to isolate certain areas of the robot, ie the brain. This would let the robot interact more completely with its environment, and could potentially open the door to self powered robots.
I think a main drive, probably more for a.i. is for the creators to program or lead the way for a.i. to take care of its occupants. Often then not I think it is forgotten that there are so many that derive specific joy and happiness from helping create a comfortable atmosphere for those around us. That in turn is there happiness, making others happy. I think it's important for us to be comfortable as much as I think it's important for the a.i. to be comfortable. In relation, building a much tighter bond. Hugs would make sense really.
@@PabloSanchez-qu6ib You bring up a valid observation, yet there are plenty of animals that suffer from eating plastic bags that shares no textures with the jellyfish they mistake them to be. I feel like getting mistakenly eaten should be at least worth a consideration in their designs. At least equip it with deterrents, either by taste, smell, or sound. Maybe a weak voltage to zap any would-be predators.
