  • The cutting of lace fabric is not a straight forward process because of the patterning on the lace. In the this tutorial, I’ll show you how to stop and think before making that first cut, tips to follow to get the best result when cutting lace and how to think about design and shaping.

    Hi Coleen, not sure if you recognise me, I was one of your students at the Northenden college. About to sew an evening lace jacket with no lining. This tutorial came in handy.     Thanks for your kind comment. As for tips, I think your better off using a lace insertion technique rather than appliqué. It far easier to do and gets the same results.

    Yes. It's always recommended to stay stitch areas on the bias or curved.

    Hi. Yes, the stay stitch can be the same length as your normal stitch length and you don't really have to back stitch. Personally I don't. Hope that helps.

    Thanks for posting your videos. They are very informative. I have a question about "applique-ing" lace to side seams of denim stretch pants. How should I tackle this fashion enhancement? Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, I wan to know abt stay stitch? For normal stitch I sew 2.5, stay stitch is it the same length? For stay stitch must I do back stitch?pls reply ASAP tks.
