Omg Germans again took the best gear they can, in the platoon, love the painting basing, have to watch how they did. The camera filming is top notch. Gg.
Thank you, always good fighting Rick and his Germans! He has a good selection and they always perform well. Thanks for the comment, it is much appreciated 👍🏻
Listen, I've just stumbled upon this channel. And let me tell you, I've got nothing but positive things to say. Your ideas are brilliant. Your models all look great. Terrain, spot on. Playing in that space with the natural lighting (and nice yard I must say), absolutely key to a great viewing experience. Your camera work is steady and smooth, not shaky and out of focus like a couple of others I watch on the regular. Sincerely I loved this video and I am looking forward to seeing a lot more. Thank you for this.
Thank you! That is really appreciated, we love sharing our battle reports and hope people enjoy them as much as we do. Thank you again, this made me smile 👍🏻
Commando’s are great! I am play Olaf today and taking a wasp… they are also great. The firefly is a beast, but keep it protected as is a little vulnerable. Great to hear you are getting into the Bolt Action, it is a really intuitive and fairly easy game to get into. Thanks for the comment, really appreciate it, we enjoy playing and sharing our videos! Thanks again.
What a great battle! Really love these 1v1v1 battles and just your game variation in general. Well done Rick for getting the win in the end, half way through I thought it was over but you played really well bringing in units at the right time and of course having a bit of luck! 🤞 Always a pleasure and honour to be in your lovely German army. Well done Dan & Justin too, very close run thing. All the best as always ☺️
Dan says he was robbed as well, because we forgot that when you target a unit in a building with a flamethrower (which happened 3 times) on a 4+ the building sets alight and the unit in the building has to regroup D6 inches out of the building. This would have got him away from the Brits attacking and stop them going in the building. He also pointed out that his halftrack would not have been destroyed when assaulted by the Brits as Justin threw six 4's, but needed a 6 as he had advanced. this would have meant that at the end of the turn it would have run off as it was closer to the Brits then his forces. With it gone, he says, he could have hit the Brits easier as they took cover behind the wreck.
@rickfryer2934 haha! My main gripe was the bren carrier at point blank, having not moved being told it was 6’s not 5’s… and I rolled 5’s so it might have been enough to stop your single ss guy getting to the objective! To be fair, even if I didn’t assault or I failed the assault on the half track, being empty and closer to me it would have gone anyway 😂🤷🏻♂️. Fun game nonetheless and I left most of the banter in just because it showed the fun of the battle…
It was fun for us too! Glad you liked it, we want people to watch and enjoy the game… we are in a fortunate position that between us and as a group we have lots of figures and scenery so can put on a good show 😉😊👍🏻 Thanks for the positive feedback
Thanks for the comment 👍🏻 The roads are from FatFrank on ebay, cheap and flexible DEFINITELY Worth the price. The buildings are from different manufacturers and have been rendered and painted to suite our games. Hope this helps?
Hi from memory I always undercoat Leather brown (base colour too). Jacket: Undercoat Desert yellow Then blobs of Venom wyrm Then more blobs of Crusted sore Strong tone 50/50 water Tone over trousers too as that is correct colour. Then army green or colour of choice for webbing. I always give every model a light dry brush of ivory white/skeleton bone so it picks up the raised areas (just watch the face as can leave them look too white so might need flesh wash to bring it back). Hope this helps?
I'm starting to play around with a regular 2nd Lt. Veteran Grenadier 8 man squad with LMG, 3 Stg-44 (assault rifles), and 2 Panzerfaust, then a 8 man squad of Sturmpioniers with 3 SMG's, a GrB-39 and flamethrower. and supported with a Flammepanzer III with my new Rubicon models SD Kfz 234/4 Pak 40 heavy armored car. And with that vehicle combo you can pretty much stun an opponent in place, as if they go after the flame tank then the armored car can come up and take a shot. Or if they try for the car and it doesn't have an order dice it can just pivot and drive for what ever nearby cover is around to get out of sight and so have the opponent waste the shot. Also this armored car is a good counter for a M-18 Hellcat if it has recce as you can do almost everything they can do but not able to go over fences or walls as it is wheeled, but you have more range (3 more inches) and an extra pivot at an advance pace.
Sounds pretty solid force, Rick has been playing around with his German forces over our last few battles to test different units and tactics… some with surprising results! You will have to let us know how you get on with them, the German force in the right hands can be formidable! Good luck and thank you for you’re comments 👍🏻
I got the LMG for free in my Schutzen as 20 points is a lot, personnaly now I would drop the LMG from a normal unit. Veteran units are great and I like Assault Rifles, but at 5 points each they cost a lot. Thats why I like to take a 3 man 2nd Lieutenant unit, as thay get Assault Rifles for free. Free points are the way to go as the British get 100 points of free Forward Artillery Observers. Flammepanzer is something I want, but at 175 points it is a little expensive, maybe 35 points more than you might want to spend on a tank. As for a 234/4 its twice the cost of a 250/9 and is open topped. You saw in the game what infantry can do against open topped armoured cars, so it will be massively targeted. But that gun if it hits will kill anything, so great against Medium or Heavy tanks. I play Justin who hates tanks so I spend most of my time fighting infantry, so a 234/4 would not be much good to me. As for the Pioneers why 8 man, they will always need transport so why not 6 men in a Heavy Field Car.
@@rickfryer2934 haha, thanks for the update and explanation of your army choice... not sure I hate tanks, just feel they are not generally value for money, so often I don’t take them, might have to look at options in future! Also, Warlord are rewriting tanks wars, so maybe an all tank game is in hand 😉
@@rickfryer2934 Because I don't own a heavy field car other than my Styer 1500 (Known as the Horch 1A, in fact same truck just a different bonnet/ hood on them) with Flak 38. Plus I tried that whole smaller less than 8 squads and they do not last, with 8 to 10 men I usually have enough to absorb casualties and still have enough to be somewhat effective in the last 2 turns. I still love the baiting with the GrB-39 by doing indirect fire and when a transport (with what ever in the back as passengers) or other vehicle shows up go to the AT profile and launch a shape charge right in the side like a Panzerschrek but with a +3 instead of a +6 pen.
@@Andy_T_BAhaha, thanks, although looking back at my early armies makes me cringe… but try to take more time now. Rick is very talented at both figure painting AND his scenery building skills, we have some awesome stuff he has scratch built 👍🏻

Interesting idea… I guess it’s a bit of what you have and what you can field makes up the army… I might need to add to my Germans too!
Sorry but I hate to be that guy and break the bad news but schutzen squads can't be taken in a generic platoon.
