I have always held the UK in the highest of esteem when it comes to these liberties, believing us all to be closely bound by these unshakable principles and rights of mankind, but I will admit that this is the most shocking of developments coming from the UK, a dystopian nightmare in the making, when you cannot express legitimate condemnation of a government’s policies for fear of being arrested for some vague or trumped up charge that is up to the interpretation of the government itself no less. That is more than just highly problematic. It’s downright frightening.

Well-informed commentary. I understand that when he was Attorney General, Starmer got an Act passed protecting his own pension. As for increases in minimum wage & employer NIC hikes to 15%, of course that's going to cause more motorcycle dealers, restaurants, pubs etc. to close, with the added benefit of higher unemployment. Precisely the group that are being written out of the script, if that isn't racist nothing is. These are my own observations and in no way reflecting the content of this channel.
@BillyDalziel-qw9hc it was personal. I bought a pair of rear pads that were £80 that wouldn't fit. They are the right part number but HD went metric since. 0.025" isn't 0.75mm. Refused to refund, said if I took the bike there and they didn't fit I could get a refund. Added if they did fit they would charge me fitting. Asked if I could video them not fitting just for the fun of it which they declined. Life is too short, I still have the pads. I got £800 in OEM replacement engine casings else where along with everything else for the restoration project. I wanted to be supportive of local but not at the expense of morals. Terrible image quality short of the FXDL on my channel.
Yes, been out of work since February (35 years IT experience) due to DEI job application process. It even states on the application form that the DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) will be used to ensure the hiring firm have the ‘right’ % of employees based upon gender, colour, culture, religion, parent’s wealth, school attended etc. which is discrimination as the most qualified person should be awarded the role. I’m a 61 year old, white male so have absolutely no chance.
Generally speaking, I agree with you on most of what you’re saying. The labour government is very very dangerous and needs getting rid of as soon as possible.

I have read the stories on the fall in sales of motorcycles but recently I have started receiving emails from various motorcycle companies with the offer of discounts that I would never have belived once. Unfortunately the ride I have now maybe my last for a number of reasons so I hope all you riders out there take the chance to keep riding as long as you can.
I'd like to introduce some facts about this sad event. From the publicly available profit and loss statement of Marsh Holdings Ltd for the year ending Dec 31 2023 , they made an operating loss of £852,399 on a turnover of just over 30 million. After injection of £1.2 million from Sale of Kia Taunton , there was a profit before tax of only £27,526. The company statement on announcing the closure reads “After a difficult period marked by economic uncertainty, persistent poor weather, oversupply, and stock issues from our manufacturer partners, compounded by the recent budget impacts on businesses, we find ourselves in an untenable position, like so many others.” The changes in employers NI announced in the budget come into effect in April 2025 Taking all this into account I think the suggestion in the title that the closure is "due to devastating budget" is disingenuous
Unfortunately, judging by the age, shape and size of the current batch of mo-bike enthusiasts (retired, OFITG type) I would hazzard a guess that they know absolutely nothing about the fast approaching "you will own nothing". But if they do, that this master plan will not affect them in the least. And remembering their vocal stance against questionable juices in 2020, it would indicate that they are happy for all future potential riders to be denied this pleasure. (Ps. I'm not a motorcyclist.)

You've summed up my views entirely here Stu, so I have very little to add except to say that the job of a Shadow Cabinet is to shadow the current cabinet and come up with alternative well researched ideas and policies. The previous Labour Shadow Cabinet did none of this and were lazy, in that they were just an objection and 'slagging off' group of misfits. They didn't do their job!! Stu, must admit that I like the odd bit of political comment from time to time. I actually voted Reform in my constituency of Ashfield, and our MP Lee Anderson sits proudly in parliament representing the Reform party. It has to be difficult for motorcycle dealers as the demographic for motorcyclist in general seems to be getting older and older. This is most obvious when attend a bike meet-up, particularly the classic bike ones, everyone seems the same as me - mid 60’s in age with a head of grey hair.
Our public services are in tatters. Our GDP has shrunk by about £100 billion since Brexit. If, since the 2008 banking crisis, wages had risen in line with inflation, we'd all be £8,000 a year better off. The average person in the UK is struggling financially and can't pay any more to put the country on a sound footing. Where is the government supposed to get the money from? Clearly not businesses or farmers!
@@stuartfillingham The government needs to tax wealth, and not just income. Not the houses of Jo public, but retail and office infrastructure, private roads and bridges, etc. That is essentially untaxed at the moment. Right-wing commentators will say it will lead to an outflow of capital. Really, they are going to take the city office blocks and retail parks abroad with them?
@@derekcater2448 You can not tax a country out of low economic growth, can you not see that wealth trickles down to working people so if you tax business LESS MONEY IS PASSED DOWN TO WORKERS!
With the greatest of respect the budget has absolutely nothing or almost nothing to do with the closure of motorcycle dealerships. The Conservatives had 15 years or more to destroy this country. Labour have been in four months. It’s okay to have different opinions but this is outrageous. Brexit has utterly devastated the financial stability of this country along with a global economic downturn, these dealerships are closing because us older bikers are dying off and because people don’t have money to spend on £15,000 shiny things to put in the garage anymore.
@ of course I don’t know more about what they have said and they will have said they have had to pay higher national insurance to their staff, but this will be the straw that broke the camels back, if they were selling a healthy amount of bikes at a healthy profit, it wouldn’t have the impact it has had, so from a larger economic perspective. Yes I probably do know a lot more than they know about it or at least more than they are admitting.
@@stevewalker1677 as I said I don’t know what they have said but I standby my response. You might like to have an argument online. I’m simply stating my opinion, it very to do with this budget. The motorcycling community has been impacted by older people dying out and the general economic downturn.

At least you're able to discuss it freely. Here in Australia the federal Labor government has just, as a result of a revolt in the Senate, withdrawn its proposed Communications Legislation Amendment (Combatting Misinformation and Disinformation) Bill 2024. This Bill would have prevented anyone from posting anything on social media that the government did not like or approve. and there were legal penalties therein for so doing. In other words, the right of an individual to express their opinion would have been illegal act, had the legislation been passed. Fortunately, some sanity has prevailed, for now. One wonders, having dodged the bullet, how long it will be before Labor or the Coalition (the only alternative, so they play musical chairs) reintroduce it, or something essentially similar.

Sadly the petition won't make any difference. And it's also meaningless unless it garners well over 15 million signatures (the number of voters that didn't vote for Labour in the last GE) because if it has less than 15 million, then the Government will just use that to prove that people DO agree with them clearly as MORE people support them now than compared to the General Election - we all know how politicians spin stuff to suit them, so it could even do more harm than good. If people stopped paying council tax etc, they'll switch off your bank accounts...... one of the joys of this digital world, look what happened to the Canadian truckers during covid.....

It’s the running roughshod upon the civil liberties of people in the UK themselves that is most shocking to me as an American.
I cannot find polite words to describe this Government, or indeed the last few before it.
Agreed, words fail me!🤬
Life today is like watching the film 1984 in the cinema and as you walk outside later you are already there, it is not a future that we fear but a past we are already living.

As much as I find Starmer and co wanting, the reason for dealerships closing goes way, way back - as much past Tory policies, Covid, production of too many unaffordable bikes and cost of living crisis etc, which all began YEARS before Labour got back in.
From Kentucky USA...Stuart, we've just been gifted a chance to save ourselves and the economy. A fall-out benefit is that the legacy media has been brought down and our First Amendment Right of Free Speech is (for now) secure. I wish the same can be brought about for the UK. Ride safe.

The old guy lost his licence but didn’t go to present I know my reactions aren’t as quick I also know someone else who has stopped riding
I'm signing that petition, but what we really need is a revolution against the whole rotten system.

Tories stopped all the Lads getting an LC250, lowered it to 125 on L plates and brought 2 part bike test in and lowered Horsepower down to 12, Norman Fowler it was , one of THATCHERS cohorts, at least you could aford a bike back then ! now just to expensive.... Like President Reagan once said "The greatest social program ever is a job". If you raise the minimum wage you raise the cost of living. If you let the people keep more of their money, the government collects more taxes. The reason being the more people have to spend, the more they spend.
Already signed the petition. You are just spot on .

I agree Stuart, I’m lucky enough to be able to fund my own lifestyle and in my opinion we in the U K pay too much tax on assets we own. Removal of Capital gains tax should be high on the list of any Government. Acquiring land for investment to avoid inheritance tax is still an option after the recent budget if you can afford sound legal and financial advice. Keep up the good work so we can Gas Light the lunacy.
Yes Rachel from accounts has seriously screwed things up,I remember her giving the tories abuse whrn they suggested raising national insurance, her comments included it's a tax on jobs and it will cost jobs but it's fine for her to do exactly that, what a complete balls up in such a short time and she thinks this will encourage growth seriously wtf.

The company statement on announcing the closure reads
“After a difficult period marked by economic uncertainty, persistent poor weather, oversupply, and stock issues from our manufacturer partners, compounded by the recent budget impacts on businesses, we find ourselves in an untenable position, like so many others.”
The changes in employers NI announced in the budget come into effect in April 2025
Taking all this into account I think the suggestion in the title that the closure is "due to devastating budget" is disingenuous
Not really as businesses have to plan forward and obviously the NI increase made an already poor financial state unworkable.
On the Farmers inheritance side this will only impact the family farm as most of the big players are corporations which as we know live in perpetuity.
The real blackout was when Blair won in 1997….no one said anything about such scandals as PFI

As for Black Rock, they are indeed a very sinister organisation. Ah thank you Kevin!
Clearly not businesses or farmers!
if you decimate business and farming the Government has no revenue to work with. its not rocket science. if money is short stop giving it away !

Hats off to you for keeping everyone informed.
With the greatest of respect the budget has absolutely nothing or almost nothing to do with the closure of motorcycle dealerships. The Conservatives had 15 years or more to destroy this country. Labour have been in four months. It’s okay to have different opinions but this is outrageous. Brexit has utterly devastated the financial stability of this country along with a global economic downturn, these dealerships are closing because us older bikers are dying off and because people don’t have money to spend on £15,000 shiny things to put in the garage anymore.
well the Plymouth dealer has stated that it is, so you know more about it than them?
@ of course I don’t know more about what they have said and they will have said they have had to pay higher national insurance to their staff, but this will be the straw that broke the camels back, if they were selling a healthy amount of bikes at a healthy profit, it wouldn’t have the impact it has had, so from a larger economic perspective. Yes I probably do know a lot more than they know about it or at least more than they are admitting.
@@TheBritishMotorcyclingGroup Dont comment that you do then
@@stevewalker1677 as I said I don’t know what they have said but I standby my response.

Linked to the ban on social media for under 16s?
@@Stu-bw2fw Very likely, even though any bans on social media for under 16's should be a parental responsibility, not the purview of government, which is apparently seeking cradle-to-grave thought control. Both Hitler and Stalin sought comparable over-reaching control on their citizens.

Unfortunately at my age I'd rather have a better national health service and be able to access a NHS dentist. The motorcycle trade has been struggling long before this budget.

yes and i believe Starmer was behind that petition.
@@stuartfillingham My point was it didn't lead to change. To get rid of the government, there would need to be a no confidence vote in parliament. And given the Labour government has a thumping-great majority, that would just to a different labour government.
@@derekcater2448 I think you need to watch the video rather than just comment on the title, He explains the importance of the petition very clearly.
Big difference there is it was a massive turnout and brexit still won even though there was a collosal mainstream media biase to remain. Last election was a poor turnout and less than a fifth of the electorate voted Labour and many of those now regret it. Add another very major point brexit was never delivered, instead it was deliberately screwed by those doing tasked to organise it and the mainstream media appeared only too happy to assist.
I did watch the video. What did I miss?
I question the legitimacy of the number of genuine signatories. I think you’ve been had. Barely 17m swung it for Brexit & approx 10m votes swung it for Labour in the General Election. I find it remarkably unlikely that 2.5m people even know (or fully understand) what’s really going on in UK politics to the extent that they care enough to sign a petition. think outside influences, along with those within our shores who hope to gain, are at play.
We’re British. We made our bed & now we gotta lie in it. Since when did we start to ‘kick-off’ because we’re unhappy after 5mths of Gov’t? We’re not 12yrs old. A referendum was demanded, one was given & look where that got us! A general election was called & we must wait for the next one. We elect people to speak on our behalf and make the decisions, that recent history will show, we’re clearly not qualified to make.

I didn't vote for them. I usually would, but I don't trust Kier Starmer. But there's no way I'd ever vote Conservative and I'm most definitely not going to vote Reform. So what am I left with other than Lib Dem or an independent?
