  • We chat with Kerry and Alan Ribble of Texarkana, Ark., (and a house in Hot Springs) after they arrived in Louisville to watch their Kentucky Derby contender and Louisiana Derby runner-up Honor Marie work under jockey Ben Curtis. Through Legion Bloodstock, they bought into Honor Marie as a yearling (and named the colt after their grand-daughter), then bought out their Legion partners after his first victory, then sold 25 percent after he won the Kentucky Jockey Club last fall. After starting out claiming horses, Kerry says she just wanted a "Saturday horse" - meaning one to run in an allowance race - when they got into buying babies. They are awaiting their first allowance victory, but now have a horse for The Race on The Saturday. Work video shot from grandstand courtesy Churchill Downs' Kevin Kerstein. Honor Marie worked five-eighths of a mile in 59.1, with fractions of 12, 23.4, 35.3, 47.2 and out in 1:12.3 and 1:27.3.
