Loved this in 1958 when we had our skiffle group The Sutton Sinners. Sang it using the chord of E Thank you so much. A lovely memory. I still have a go with my guitar at the age of ,76.
My childhood sweetheart my pretty fraulein, we live now as husband and wife for 31 long years and blessed with 3 children. This song makes me always remember the yesteryears of our lives. Nice song!
brings back memories when i was a kid and my grandpa sang this song with a lot of others in bars all around central texas.......tall texans........love you grandpa!
Evelyn, my father is an 83 yr old cold war veteran, sittin here in Alabama, still tellin me ta play this song for him, for his Brigitta.... wish I had a male fraulein somewere...
Love Bobby Helms' song followed by Kitty Wells' song. Great idea. It's kind of like when popular great Jane Morgan sat down with Johnny Cash on his TV show and Johnny Cash sang part of his song "A Boy Named Sue" and Jane Morgan sang part of her song "A Girl Named Johnny Cash". (That video is on UA-cam and great to watch and listen to.)
It seems that God now has all of the great country singers in heaven with him..... I grew p with music and I hate the so called country music of today.......
Heard this song for first time band did at the Hanau Rod & Gun Club, Hanau, Germany. Near Grossauheim, Germany., by the River Main, pronounced, "Mine." 1976. After coming home, many years later my now deceased uncle, WW II veteran, told me story he'd never mentioned. He told me about a man he grew up with from childhood, I knew this man's brother. Story was these WW II guys would be shooting pool and drinking as usual on Friday-Saturday nights. Somebody played Fraulein on the jukebox, the man turned away from them lowered his head, and got his handkerchief out wiping his eyes. The other brother told my uncle his brother was in Germany during war, met and fell in love with a Fraulein. When he returned after the war he did all he could to get her over here, our government firmly declined his request. He went to a Congressman, no help. My uncle said each time he heard the song tears rolled down his cheeks. Never got over her. Maybe they are together now.
This was a giant country music hit and was No. 1 for 4 weeks and stayed on the country chart for 52 weeks exactly 1 year and I think that it crossed over to the pop chart but didn't do do well and I don't know if Bobby Helms was a country or pop star back in those days songs appealed to all audiences pop, country and soul and did well on all 3 major music charts

Hopefully you still use this channel.
