😢😢its heartbreaking this job is so dangerous when u leave the house you must greet your family like you not coming home They need to do something to Jack up the safety of these employees
Isn't it ironic that the cowards are found in government while the real courage is always found in the people they were elected to protect.... respect to Carte Blanche for this journalism and even more respect to those who have the courage and conviction to do these jobs.
but believe u me of those same security people are the ones who leak out the time, and route to be used and taken, and the biggest culprit is those working in the control rooms of the security companies, its been proven over and over that the highest culprits are the people working for the banks and security to leak out information, that same friendly teller at a bank is in direct contact with someone on the outside when large amounts of cash is withdrawn inside the bank, look how many cops are involved in the CIT robberies .same as the breaking open of suitcases at SA airports, they have direct contact with the people outside the airport, and nothing is done to curb any of these crimes, and why ??? because of the ANC cadres are involved
As someone that worked in armed response, this is what the staff have to deal with every single day. Most people don't understand even if you survive any kind of attack, it stays with you forever. Well done to the Carte Blanche crew for this story. Thank you for also pointing out that the explosives these criminals usually use are made from mining equipment, and that they should be held accountable for when any hazardous materials go missing.
i understand all of it, but of those same people working in the security companies are the ones giving out information to these crooks to which route and time the van is leaving, that we all know, because how do these gangs know on which day, time route of the van, bank robberies are same, that over friendly teller is the one who phones the gang sitting outside the bank when a large amount of cash is withdrawn,
I take my hat off to all armed response officers. My younger brother was 1 for years until it just became to much and he resigned. He's always on alert wherever he goes, it's part of his character now. Why use those vehicles when you can use helicopters on for cash transportation? isn't it that most of the buildings have helipads? Why risk peoples lives?
A logistically impossibility. One van usually does 15-30 CIT pick-ups in one run in built-up areas. Where will the helicopter land and take off? How many helicopter pilots are out there? How many helicopters are available? How many trips before the chopper needs refueling? Then there is the cost.

The robber is saying he is doing it for his family but come on why cant he go out and get a job like everyone else to support his family. Everyone of us is struggling out here but we dont go around robbing and killing people just for doing their jobs. and its not just the ppl in the trucks that lives are at risk but everyone that is around when that robbery is taking place.
my question is why spend so much money on the tech if its not helping with speed. Why not spend the money better by having a patrol car followed with extra men follwing the van, when it does happen then the backup is already there
Yeah that’s what I said too why not have unmarked armoured vehicles do the patrol by closely following from a few miles behind and a few miles ahead so that if the robbers are following them they can also see if they are being followed
It's easier to claim from their insurance for the lost money than actually add those backup to be with the trucks. They don't care about the drivers and public that gets caught in this
12 people sounds like a minimum of 3 teams of 4 or 4 teams of 3 involved in the CIT robberies at a time. If it's 3 teams of 4 per team, thats pretty well planned with multiple teams ensuring that the target job is completed.
This was a very uncomfortable episode to watch, cant imagine how taxing was it to make. I am buffled by one thing thought, if the drivers have so much back up why is it that still there are 6 of these robbery a week?

Wonder if any of the banks have ever considered just how much cash could be safely transported by simply going anonymous? Gogos like me would happily drive or walk the extra mile......in exchange for a little bit of fairness and a few Bob.
your problem is that those same control room workers who give out the information of the time and route the cash van is going to be using, inside people are the guilty ones for giving out information
@ThabaniTBowseHadebe0909 I would slightly agree although a minimum is not enough given the current economic situation and the inflation rate not improving. However well said and if Government is not achieving their goal they are more than welcome to partner with businesses to create jobs through investors and projects.
I believe there's one of two things happening in this interview; even though the robber is wearing a mask, it's clear to pinpoint who he is. Why use those vehicles when you can use helicopters on for cash transportation? isn't it that most of the buildings have helipads? Why risk peoples lives?
Robberies will just move from the street to inside the buildings and more people will be at risk
Tio costly, 14000 a trip with a chopper
A logistically impossibility. One van usually does 15-30 CIT pick-ups in one run in built-up areas. Where will the helicopter land and take off? How many helicopter pilots are out there? How many helicopters are available? How many trips before the chopper needs refueling? Then there is the cost.
