Well this was my 2nd year...I swnt out a SURVEY (because of teachers concers of being backed up on work) about how the felt about a "teachers' work day" where they can actually catch up on. Well, admin (not all) did not appreciate me not asking permission. They felt it was a conflict with PDs previously scheduled (yes, the SURVEY). My plan was to bring this to the leadership huddle and compile the response to another survey, "teacher check-in." Principal also stated it was lack of communication, and they could have added to it. I stated to them that teachers would come to me with concerns that they would not address to them. I think I have an equal number of visits from teachers and students this year, and this is why I sent the surveys. I thought it would help with addressing some projected setbacks. I stood my ground respectfully and will just ask permission to send out surveys, I guess. Oh, after I sent out the check in the following week, they sent a clumate survey
Can you tell me more about how as a school counselor that you were planning to help with small groups on non SEL or ASCA Mindset and Behavior Standards?
@counselingwithmrb the concepts seem so easy in school, but when you are tasked with implementation and all the other things they try to strap us with, it gets hard!
My mistake was over extending myself to joining one too many committees before or after school.
Yes! I’ve made that mistake too before 😅
Going in without a summer of self care (aka time off of work)... I came in burnt out and not in a good place. Still paying for that.
Praying you take some moments to enjoy life and rest❤️
@@counselingwithmrbit is a balance for sure. But my everyday thing is a hot shower or bath! Thank you

Unfortunately I’ve been there where I tried to do something with good intentions. I’ve learned to just always communicate anything I do beforehand 😊
What kinds of things do you put in your portfilio?

This was during my first year so I wasn’t reviewing ASCA standards. 😅😂
I think I just heard you mention it was not your content area. 😅
