I also enjoy watching the trains going round, it's very relaxing. Those Piko pancake motors are wonderful, I've got them in a couple of steam tank locos. I also like the acrylic diamond lamp lenses on Piko DDR era locomotives, you get a great light effect without the hassle of bulbs. I've recently bought a bagful to make lamps for my Jouef 030T Boers.
Hi, its always interesting to hear the histories of these old Locos, the story of your E69 being neglected for years and then restored to running condition is a great story. Piko are very well made Locos and very reliable as are most of the Ho Locos. I started collecting Ho stock after buying a used Piko 218 at a model exhibition in Germany and became hooked. I visit the German Technical Museums in Sinsheim and Speyer almost every year, they have a large number of the old Locos on display. Cheers, Paul.👍👍
I really enjoy the variety of your stock and the stylist juxtaposition of your layout (perfect name too).. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing with us, most appreciated. PS I think that's the first time I've ever texted 'juxtaposition'! 😊
The Green variation of the Piko E69 is the DR version since most DR locos were green or red and white later on. They had a lot of green and black paint left over on both sides after the war so they used it. After all most army equipment had to be painted green and black so a lot of green paint was made.
