Expedition Frozen Landscape - Part 1 - A Ski Touring Adventure Above The Arctic Circle

Our expedition in arctic Sweden is over. We survived it: to trudge through snow and cold with 8 adventurous madmen for days and think it's all fantastic. Tuesday was the coldest night with -28ºC, but with a few burners we were able to heat the tipi to -10ºC to -5ºC during dinner. That became almost comfortable in our super thick down jackets.
The nicest? Help each other through it together with the other expedition members, with encouragement, with brute force, with a little push to your sled, with frank outpourings, with sharing your food or stuff, with hugs, with a listening ear, but above all: with a lot of humor.
The most annoying? Waking up at 6.30am to a temperature of minus ridiculous and immediately having to start the quest to put on all 72 items in the most efficient order that are floating around in your sleeping bag and then already strand on part one because you can't find your left liner sock.
During the day we travel on touring skis. These skis are somewhat wider than cross-country skis and have (half) skins with which we can also go uphill. We pull all personal luggage, tents, burners, petrol, shovels, etc. on our pulkas. A wonderful idea that everything you need is so little and so close to you. We can take on the world. Well, us and the knowledge and experience of the guide, because without the many safety instructions we probably wouldn't have made it through the first day.
