Very nice ! Hornbeam handles are good as well, I was lucky enough to buy a sharpening jig from USA, it runs on the bench, and not on the stone, it gives much more freedom of movement when sharpening. This is a treat Steve, 2 videos in a week! Take care! Chris B.
Like London buses Chris you wait for ages then two turn up in quick succession 😂 Had the Veritas jig for ages and I only use it on setting up new blades/chisels then I re sharpen/hone freestyle (usually a few strokes on the strop mainly). You got your sharpening stone inset on your bench? These were an impulse buy as I just liked the look of them and they were on offer (Oct/Nov last year) for info I believe Axminster get these made in France. Cheers Steve
1st. Nice looking set Steve. I was quite surprised how cupped the back of the chisel was. Take care mate. Cheers, Huw PS I still have a set of Stanley Chisels after my Father and he bought then in the late 60's very early 70's. Need a bit of TLC but when sharp they are brilliant.
Thanks Huw, yep they took more effort than I anticipated! I’ve also got a couple of sets of Stanley chisels one was my step dads still going strong and not to dissimilar from these apart from a painted wooden handle. I just liked the look of these so was a bit of a impulse buy 🙄 Cheers Steve
Hi i bought this exact set and used the same sharpening ritual as you and so i thought id test them out just by chopping out 2 half lap joints and i already had a chip in one how has this happenned
