No. Eikinskjaldi directly translating to Oakenshield is from Völuspá in Snorra-Edda. As many other names Tolkien borrowed the dwarven name Thorin and the dwarven name Oakenshield from a religion. In this case Norse mythology.
In fact i was not speaking about the theme of the song, I know the myth of Baldr, I wrote also something for school about it. I was speaking about the name of the band, taken (I think) from Thorin Oakenshield, dwarf character of The Hobbit.
This is true, but i was not speaking about the themes of this song or the themes of Viking Metal, I was speaking about the name of the band, that (i think) is taken from the Tolkien's universe: Thorin Oakenshield, the dwarf of "The Hobbit". There are lots of band thet take their names from Tolkien: Burzum, Gorgoroth, Amon Amarth, Valar, Cirith Ungol, Morgoth... And these are names invented by Tolkien, not by norse mythology
It's actually just an old trick left over from CD days. It became a tradition in metal at some point. Once in awhile a metal band will put long silence at the end of the last song on an album. There was a Marylin Manson album where the last track is 99 minutes long.
Epic! So glad these underground bands like Oakenshield are on UA-cam. They revealed some bands which I love now. Thanks for the upload.
Wow! Amazing! Glad that i found this Band/Musican.. Remembers me somehow to the "harder" songs of Falkenbach.. Really like it!
Hails from Germany!
Bought this album a while while back. Just a perfect album to have to your collection. One dude is the entire band. Very talented lad
Maravillosa, increible. Perfecta.
There are so many good underground black/folk metal bands out there.
Insuperable. Esperamos un nuevo trabajo. Pero sin tardar mucho. Por favor.
No.

this song makes my fantasy go wild .. it's awesome \m/
These lyrics are powerful.
Thanks Guru! This song owns it all.
@FreckleeFacee1 if it's not part of the song, then it's maybe to preserve song's quality (idk how that works, but some people do it)
Awesome song, nice band! hails
@dunkelheit616 It's nowhere in the Lakes that I know. The scale of the mountains would suggest to me it is Scotland.
lovely!

Of course. Like "Amon Amarth" means "Mount Doom". Many bands get their band names from Tolkien's Middle Earth sagas.
@ChocolateTheif Same here man.
agreed
Whats up with the four minutes of silence?
Yes my freind, yes they are : )
Q chingon
True
Muy buena (y)

Google the song. The lyrics will be at the top.
Hail Odin!
good Song Hail Odin
Inspired by Tolkien? The myth of the death of Baldr is by far previous to the birth of Tolkien... But you're right, ten minutes, it's a bit strange.
Think its Tolkien that was inspired by Viking mythology
come and gander at the one man band :D
This song makes me want to lay siege to some celts.. an axe in my right hand a horn of mead in my left. Anglo Saxon and vikings ftw!
V~
quienes fueron los 2 que pusieron "no me gusta" ...
Another band inspired by Tolkien. Beautiful song, but why ten minutes of video?
