  • We go to two USED Car lots with buying an EV for a growing family. First time buying an EV for a family member. Seems to be a very busy time for used EV’s now that prices are VERY COMPARABLE to most ICE Cars and some are even BETTER in price. This has to be good for buyers.

    Got our used E-Golf from Carsa. In the end it was a good buy, but the process ended up taking way too long in the actual showroom. Interestingly the car we bought could have been sold to two other sets of punters while we were there - or in fact before we got there too as we were seeing it by appointment and we received a call while we were on the way to look at it to ask if we still wanted to come ( an internet customer was at that point trying to put a deposit on it!).

      @@KKandEV I believe the EV's that have had large drops fro mtheir original RRP are those that were well over priced in the first place. It means 3 year old EV's are now good value from those brands.

    Nice review of your buying experience. I’ll be embarking on a similar untaking in the not-too-distant future as my daughter wants a first car and it’s likely to be an EV. I was quite surprised by the first dealer’s reluctance to bargin at all - sales must be good.

      What repairs are you talking about as with 70% less parts and far less servicing there is not a lot to go wrong. Brake pads and Discs are the only real wearable items and even they last 3 times longer over a regular ICE Car because of the built in regenerative braking using the Motors.

    We bought a 23 VW ID.4 Pro S AWD with 961 miles on it for $29,395 ( £23,456.03). The car sold for $58,000 (£46,281.68) brand new. It has a branded title bought back by VW as a Lemon. We thoroughly researched the problem with VW and it turned out to be a problem with the door locks which was fixed. After taking it to a VW dealer to go over the entire car both mechanically and the software the car was found to be in perfect running condition. We have since put an additional 2000+ city and highway miles on it with absolutely no problems. Neither Hyundai or Kia will honor the original warranties on their used EVs even if they don't have branded titles. That includes the warranty on the battery which goes from 10 years 100,000 miles to 3 years 36,000 miles to the second owner. I have what remains of the full warranties from VW including the full battery warranty.

    Talking wet belts
    There are thousands of ford eco boost cars running around on 13 and 14 plates that " need " the timing belt changing at 10 years or 100'000, 125'000 miles.
    Cost is atleast £900 or £1200 from a dealer.
    The cars are worth less then 4k, so i cant see many having the belt done.

    • @kriskerry4449
      @kriskerry4449 4 місяці тому

      Speaking on this as it was my car spoke about in the video - apparently the Ford version is much easier to do compared to the Citroen. Every mechanic I spoke to was fine doing a wet belt until I Said C4 Cactus and they were much less interested. Seems to be a right pain to do on the Citroen in comparison, cost us just over £1000 to get fixed and apparently was one of the worst the mechanic had seen since the car only had 57k on the clock. Appreciate the comment 👍🏻

    I recently bought a car from Carsa and their sales process is way too long. I was at the dealer for over an hour and a half, far more than I've ever experienced anywhere else. They did upsell me a couple of items, which I still have no paperwork for nearly two months later as well, despite speaking to their customer services. I wouldn't buy another car there.

    In the process of buying a used VW from a local VW franchised site. They will not repair a scratched headlight and charge an admin fee to cover the HPI check on my car and, of course, no negotiation on 'sticker' with a PX. The horse trading days are gone. (Couldn't even find a salesman on a very quiet Thursday).

    We bought a used DS3 Crossback e-tense, 150 to 160 miles miles for £3, car is top of the range but cost £1k less than a bottom of the range ICE version, used the grand install a charger.
    No issues works great an is big enough for our grandson, the thing stays local so no worries with charging on local journeys (we do have an ICE car as well)
