I'm not so sure that I'd want to work under those things. They look sturdy enough, but I'm not sure that they are stable enough on the long axis. I think the pairs on each side need to be connected, or at least the bases of each lift needs to be wider.

If you're not lifting too high, you could use the lift just to get the car up, then put four jack stands under it before starting work.

Almost 20 years ago I bought a used 2 post lift. My wife was very upset with me buying this "BOY TOY". She changed her tune when I was able to do all my maintenance & most repairs myself. I was about 60 then. We had to downsize a few years ago & moved to the Missouri Ozarks, & had to leave it behind. Now I am older 🤭🥵 & it is very difficult to do repairs etc. & we can't afford to hire it done. I recently replaced brake lines & some other repairs with Jack's & ramps. 😟🥵😖
I don't have appropriate place for another 2 or 4 post lift, however your design is perfect for my application. I have the tools, skills & most of the materials to make a set of portable lifts. I will be sending an email & hope I can obtain your plans. This is the first setup I've seen that is very close to what I had envisioned. (I actually have a set of 4 ACME screw rods 8 ft long.) Thanks in advance.

It's better to make the basis as an inverted T letter than an L letter, more safety and also try to add a vertical base bar between each lift one for the rear and one for the front ones, it will add more stability, anyway the best DIY car lift i have seen on YT, good work

Have to agree, the best I've seen here. I've been a mechanic 45 years and I'd trust it. That's solid, that steel construction would hold much heavier than what you show here.

The very next thing I’d weld up is some Jack stands. With safety lock improvements and some detachable out rigors it’s a great diy deal! Best I’ve seen. I’d have to make up a platform to drive my car onto since it’s low but that’s no problem.
To be a real contender commercially, you’d have to include electric motors on each Jack. Thanks again for the video. Going to make something up myself. Maybe hydronic with a Make It Extreme style hydronic power pack

Awesome work so far. Please add some detachable front to rear legs to stop it falling if it is bumped from the front. I'd probably use this then. Maybe I'd push a stack of tyres or something under it when in use just to make sure I couldn't be flattened if something went wrong!

This is very similiar to the idea I've had, great to see someone do something similiar. I am thinking of using an electric winch to pull the lift up a track, and have all four wireless connected to synch, and use same lock mechanism as a regular lift that click into locks as it rises.

This is the best idea for portable DIY lift so far since no anchoring is needed like in a known commercial brand. I really like it! as already suggested below, if there is a motor on each side and they are synchronized (or controlled by manual switches to sync) then it will take less time and should be safer. Since the stands are portable and moved after the vehicle is in place, the footings can be easily made bigger to provide great stability.

First off - very impressive for the design and execution.
A couple comments: 1: think about having a couple of bolts to the ground for each post. Get a pair of cheep 1/2" drills and connect to an extension cord with a switch - this way you could control both pairs of screws together.

I love it! I must admit I would have braced it for front to rear movement. I also believe that you could set up two drills to get synchronized lifting. A small amount of steel work to create a drill holder that hangs on the side of the lift and two power cords on switches that come together at a splitter with a switch so you can turn on one at a time or both at once in order to ensure that should one slow down or fail you could easily resolve the issue.
