- Hyundai made good on its promise to show off its flying car concept at CES, but its press conference demonstrated exactly how it envisages integrating such a vehicle into everyday life. In what it calls "liberation from gridlock" and the "democratization of flight," Hyundai once again pointed at Uber as a vital ally in getting its flying cars into the skies. The rideshare platform wants to launch its Uber Air initiative in 2023, and Hyundai looks like it's got the goods to help it do exactly that.

I didn’t expect this coming from Hyundai. The ideas are good, but let’s see the execution
Hyundai is not juat a car making company.
Just like Samsung, Hyundai is a name of groups of companies like Hyundai Motors, Hyundai heavy industries, Hyundai rotem(weapon development)...etc
Of course, they can make an aircraft
First Sony makes a car... Then now Hyundai makes a helicopter and land trains... What the hell are with these pivots? LMAO
Hyundai already makes trains - a spinoff company called Hyundai Rotem. They also make tanks and military vehicles too so I'm not that surprised that they can make a helicopter.
Hyundai Group already has experience making planes.
Sony is not making cars, it just brought in a demonstration platform that it used to showcase its technologies.
It's 2020, that's what. It's the future now.
@@michaellim4165 that's a prototype of a car that's Sony is working on lol
These kind of new future concept makes me want to live long and see all the future that will happen in the upcoming generations has got to offer😁
Me too bro it makes life so exciting.
But... but... world war III
@@Kxycxx that won't happen, USA will roast Iran in a minute
Last Avenger not when russia and china are backing iran just to spite the US
@@adee6467 only if the world can deal with China and Russia.....
Sony makes car
Hyundai makes aircrafts
BMW and Audi make EV...
GM makes ???? well.. Cars.. WTF??
TOGG makes best electric car
Baykar makes best air car (cezeri)
@@3811eric 😆
Wow... Didn't expect this plan from Hyundai... Hyundai is on a roll these days, why not? The BP looks bold and legit. I wish Hyundai a best of luck for this project.. Kudos to all those engineers and designers!!! Good luck, you can do it Hyundai!!!
Uber FLY is gonna be so cool
"Uber air", or Lyft. That one can just stay the same. Lol
the aircraft model its like when burns went crazy in his casino hahahah
Javier Cifuentes lmao the sprusemoose. Get in. *points gun. I said, get in.
I like the fact that the future is less crowded.
Because somehow... Thanos wins in the future.
The gridlock will be in the sky. If it is operated in urban areas, crash landing will be castastrophic! You guys can buy and use this urban air transport vehicle and open up the roadways for me to drive my car in peace.
2.16 Its the bloke from Thunderbirds
uber air is a really nice concept hope it happens.
I saw Uber's name in the video! CONGRATS UBER!
Is it electric? What's the range of distance it can travel?
Actually Hyundai has whole shipment division and defense division. They have power to make plane as well.
A huge step up for Hyundai. What an amazing product.
Just based on their concept I see lots of challenges ahead. Good luck and don’t cut corners!
Great concept
Its very nice that terminal is usual.
Other companies aviation csn use that H
Whatever happened to their AR HUD?
Looks like a lot of super concept vaporware we've seen a million times before.
i cant wait i hope our lil town in fl gets a hub were in the middle of no where
Does it come in black ?
Cool. I wanna fly.
Hyundai Hub actually reminded me of Jacque Fresco's Venus Project. Regardless, Hyundai evolving is nice to see.
So Hyundai making choppers and PRTs (Personal Rapid Transit) now? Nice!
Great. Hyundai.
Go for it!
How much would Uber fly be ?
Por que os ETs não liberam logo a tecnologia anti gravitacional ?
In the future everyone lives in a van? Down by the river?
Tho it's currently in a conceptual stage, I commend their effort I'm not entirely sold on using vertical transportation within an urban environment. Controlling current AT is already a nightmare what a city full of physical obstructions all closely packed together. Too much variable but good effort regardless
Looks like a drone.
Nice dream. Should have got a demo model of the Pod or something real thanJUST a toy plane ✈️ - When can I see something solid 👍
Where do I fly my DJI drone when it’s full of air taxis? 😥
You tape it to one of course
You sell them back to the Chinese...
-Does this mean no more property tax?-
hyundai introduced a toy to ces? boy i do not wish to be sitting in there :D
What if I told you there is an app on the market.........
The only thing I am concern about is the noise the airplane makes
yall gonna help save the world we need this now in fl
The way he was pronouncing Hyundai, was that correct? Isn't it Hyun-dEYE
Yep he was saying it correctly. That's the actual Korean pronunciation of the brand.
@Tristan Han I've never heard that pronunciation my entire life, in the UK commercials they pronounce it Hyun-dEYE
HUNDAY
Guys can you feel it ?!
Oh yeah helicopter sounds all over.
Most people really don’t think about the common sense of hundreds of flying vehicles. Elon is the only genius anymore it seems.
this thing looks more like an autogyro
In 2:14 they mention "quite" as one of the main objectives for the vehicle. They give more details on how in the full video
@@AdventuresInTheSky I guess they didn't think about hundreds (now thousands->millions) of cars even 100 years ago when mass production was becoming a thing, yet here we are.
2020 is the future
Don't let that distract you from the fact that Samsung is making Ball-E...
i will believe it when i see it.
No shit tho your a Jelly AF Chinese.
Dubai might be the first city to build this system😂
This is cool but I don’t know how I feel about having a ton of those massive bubbles driving around. 🤷🏼♂️
Let's see how affordable this is for the average person.
ooph. What we all thought of as the future.
2020 They call it PBV
1950 They called it a Caravan
Typical marketing BS!
날으는 차면 자돔차에 가까워야지, 비행기에 가까우면 그냥 비행기 아닌가요?
Greta - Fly less save the planet >>> Hyundai - Fly more daily & every city save the planet ..... LOL
Unless silent anti-gravity becomes a thing, traditional propulsion is too loud with jets or blades. And it’s far more dangerous than regular vehicles. Have you heard how a little drone sounds? Or a helicopter? It’s way too loud to have a ton of these around. I hope things become quieter, not louder in the future. Electric cars are extremely quiet.
That's actually what I wanted to hear from them... Solution for noise...But I don't think they have it...
Cars are so passé.
The "flying car" thing has been around for DECADES, and it always stumbles upon legislation, not exactly technology.
Pedro Loyola exactly, so it is interesting the direction Hyundai is taking with the hub and train
koreans guys have big heads
Asians have big heads.
tough to make it affordable w/pilot
As more an more companies start to do the same and more and more pilots come aboard it will
when the autonomous driving technology exceeds more and competetion between lots of companies begin, the prices will go down a lot, but for now.....
yeah no, but they will surely be autonomous eventually
um... private air mobility? uff.
it must be this sustainability, everyone talks about. this will not be suitable for the mass
nice innovation, but don't expect this to be your daily commute 10 years from now
Batteries are super heavy. Electric cars get away with this because they’re on the road. But for an electric aircraft, wouldn’t it take a lot of power to just lift the battery much less the people? I think we need far better and less volatile batteries before this’ll take off (literally and figuratively)
Some battery makers are expected to release their Solid State batteries this year (having double capacity and not an highly flammable electrolyte). Major battery manufacturers are expected to release them around 2023. So I would say we're good on that side for the coming years.
@@broli123 Oh damn, I hadn't heard of that! Doubling capacity would be huge. Especially for what uber is going for, short term flights within a city or neighboring cities.
Nobody: Let's combine air travel, exclusive stuff only rich people can afford and a Silicon Valley company with a super sketchy reputation for a 'completely out of touch with the current public opinion' vision of the future at the world's biggest consumer electronics show.
Hyundai: yes.
all 10 people that can afford an airplane uber
Don't care if I can't afford it, if it means less cars on the road or less gridlock it's a win/win!
And like all tech it'll get cheaper, so we'll eventually be able to afford it.
its about time. enough of phones with 20 cameras or abcd-oled tvs.
2050 ?
Just like honda did jet. hyundai is doing drone.
Maybe this will happen in Asia...but in the US....the air is MUCH too regulated to allow for this...never gonna happen :(
Air taxis in 2023 yeah sure I'll believe it when I see it
You just make a good electric car for now. Then let's talk about AirTaxis.
@lazarus921 Can it compete with Tesla?
Other companies still dream while Tesla is already making it a reality.
Never underestimate Koreans and Japanese
UNDERGROUND people
Be more specific on your case
What dream did Tesla actually make it in to a reality?
HYUNDAI REAL SOUND IN KOREA IS HYUN-DAE.
HYUNDAI IS AFFECTED BY OLD ENGLISHKOREAN SYSTEM THAT MADE BY JAPAN WHEN KOREA WAS COLONIZED BY JAPAN, JUST PASS AND NOTICE
Oh I doubt that will be "quiet"
Quieter, they never said quiet. Selectively picking up statement aren't you?
Watch again at 2:15 - "Our vehicles will be safe, quiet, affordable..."
@@DisCamCole It makes sense that it will be quiet. As they are using electric motors and blades that are spun slower than normal using numbers to help generate lift and forward momentum. Compared to the current single motor system that often needs to do both the lift (blades) and forward momentum (gas turbine engines).
It's not possible with the amount of air those propellers are going to cut through. Theres a company testing a Drone Food Delivery service, and there are non-stop noise complaints.
Don't get me wrong, I'd still love to see that (and this) succeed - I'm just not sure it will last
Good one, THE BORING COMPANY is the real solution
why when subways' transport capacities are orders of magnitude higher? don't believe elon's claims on cost savings either, he built a shitty little demo tunnel of course it was cheap. search youtube for boring company debunked
@3:40
Hyundai isn't aircraft manufacturing company either
Hyundai is a co-owner of KAI, Korea's aerospace industry that produces rockets and jet fighters as well as planes for both civilian and military uses.
Xentradi97 thanks for the correction
Hyundai can make planes if they wanted to
T-50 Golden Eagle
KUH-1 Surion
???
@@Xentradi97 they dont own it anymore
Nonsensical.
vaporware until they can get it to actually integrated into society
Just wait untill the civil aviation regulations hit it.
Omgggg. Human?,?! We no n that thing, we need to fix train or transportation to get better then now.
Should sell it to military
How is that flying thing any better than a helicopter? Why even fly that thing for just 4 people? The price will be just as high as flying an airplane...
fuel cell is the answer for all these.
*once we have figured out how to produce hydrogen efficiently and not as a remainder of natural gas
feel bad for those that get sick lol
We'll look at Germany and do what they do for less - Hyundai
Lol yea right bunch of marketing bs
Nope, they already have the first demonstration in Dallas, TX in the next few years. Not marketing. Perhaps you should read more up on it before jumping to conclusions.
they should prob pivot to someone who can speak understandable english
Have better public transport. Not flying diasters for the rich.
Hyundai cars has a serious problem that hasn't been solved- sudden acceleration not caused by the driver. Perhaps it should fix that before thinking about airplanes.
Booo, go underground like Elon thinks. Makes way more sense. On sound alone. Common sense people.
It’s ok, you prob don’t understand the details and reality...yet
I believe multiple Twitter comments have already stated that Elon's underground plan isn't a solution at all. (I forgot the details)
Yeah making all those underground tunnels will make no sounds at all
Electric turbines are quieter. Also, ground transportation still limits expansion, cost capital involvement and others. Air is much better.
@@AdventuresInTheSky sounds like you didn't do your own research, because the plan is shit. the transport capacity is dwarfed by subways.
Hyundai is known around the world for being cheap and great warranty.
a lot of talk! no action! they brought nothing!
If Uber, no thanks, go home Uber. Shit company. Hyundai what you doing, Uber is a wrong and bad partner.
Hyundai wannabe boeing?wtf..
wow lame, no electric cars smh
Its not a motor show you know?
This isnt a motor show stupid.
It's not a motor show LOL
WHAT A DUMB 😆
wow a computer generated image and a model, I'm dreaming already. What a joke, nice school project
LAME
@@thisiskevinsanchez Lilium has a better VTOL that is working now and powered by electric jet engines in a smaller footprint. This presentation was marketing bs.
@@MatrixJockey yea, good luck with the sound pollution with jet propulsion. Turbines are obviously quieter.
