This is such a fantastic piece of music. Donizetti was a genius.
Donizetti is every bit the artistic-operatic equal of Mozart and Wagner.
Shame his music is being butchered by moronic singers
@@herrbrucvald6376 Donizetti is waaaaaaaay better than Wagner.
I'm not a fan of Anna Netrebko, but this video shows one of her best performance and role.
I used to be one, but that was a long time ago. I think this performance was before her over singing (the wrong repertory) and problem technique collapsed her voice and potential. You can hear some of that lack of grounded support at 39. And now that I know she is a Putin follower, I just can't with her.
@@user-gd9ej6rl4e Hello, if you read my comment you might notice that I initially focused on her voice. The politics came last. I liked her voice during this era, but no more. ua-cam.com/video/ZC6QsgbpujA/v-deo.html
She looked the part, she acted the part and she sang the part. It was just an unbelievable experience watching her from row 1 on Friday 30 Sept.. Btw: second act contained some of the best life stuff I ever attended in my life.
MARAVILLA
Moja naj draza Anna bravo
It was brilliant!
what beautiful costumes clothes
Wonderful live broadcast today! Brava!
Outstanding singer and actress!
Shes not
She was untill 2012-13. Not today because she ruined her beautiful voice.
@NEBESHIKU Anna Netrebko has just performed in La Scala in Don Giovanni, and both the audience there and the critics loved her.
She has clearly matured into a real lirico Spinto!!! A lyric voice can not project over the choir and orchestra the way her voice is able to do so.
Stunning!
fantastic
Glorious!
Anna is wonderful!!!
Anna's lower register is breathtaking
Maravilloso
bravooooo 👏👏👏
I am sure the Met will bring it out on DVD. They will probably record it for DVD release on Oct 15 when they do the simulcast to movie theatres all over the world and the DVD will come out after that. The Met know perfectly well what sells!!
Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Sublime❤❤❤❤❤
Bravissima❤
WOW!!! The whole production seems quite amazing!!
La más grande
I love the face of the bearded guy behind Anna at 1:47...He's like "MY GOD!" but he knows he cannot make it visible, so great!
Красота
linda melodia
Why in comments are on "war" about if Callas or Caballe or anyone are better than Anna? Bro, just enjoy her voice or go away (?)
maybe someone has ANNA BOLENA full opera?
Wow!!!!!!!
@SouthPacific005 she truly is AMAZING. outstanding(:
Sing it honey--brava.
Está bien. El vestuario está conseguido.
Oh Dramatic😆😆😉

I love Anna so much ... her stagecraft, her stature and presence, and here she gives 200%. But it's abbreviated, there is supposed to be a repeat verse which can make the drama absolutely "mortale" - her light tessitura and lyric soprano voice simply doesn't have the strength for the true execution and interpretation of all of Anna's music, but Netrebko is our brightest star anyway.
seriously?

@NEBESHIKU
HA! anybody would've been booed at La Scala. Sometimes I think people there can't really make any difference, they just like to boo all the time, perhaps believing it makes them look more profound than anyone mortal. So please, do not give examples with La Scala...
The opera is soooo historically innacurate but great music
Historical accuracy isn’t really the point when it comes to Operas but okay
I don't get it. Bring on the hate mail!!!!
WHo is the Jason Momoa lookalike? He is just yummy

Last note did not fall on pleasant ear 👂
I prefer an older Sutherland in this her voice resonates that high d
lol
@@fabriziogarzi9396 Infatti !!
@@Aspett0, infatti si vede adesso com'e'. Tra breve chiameranno a sostituirla altre, tempo?... 4 anni? Cordiali saluti.
They should listen to Callas when they do Anna Bolena
La musica è splendida. Lei una pena.
this is not a role for her........
she should do spinto/dramatic roles......
She doesn't have the voice for it. She can get drown with the ochestra.
Sorry not Callas
Final sovracuto screamed and also a bit out of pitch.
I am a big Anna fan and love Donizetti but as really disappointed when I visited NYC from the UK to see this production. AN looked out of shape and hit some notes which were bordering on shrill/ugly, the production was static and uninspiring. I also feel that the piece itself was a big part of the problem, not his best work and therefore needs a great performance to lift it out from mediocre to sublime and sadly Anna failed to deliver.
The fault doesn't lie with the piece, but the piece demands singers capable of meeting its demands. But that applies to any piece of music, vocal or instrumental: the musicians must be up to the technical and dramatic challenges which the piece offers and needs. No one would accept a haphazard attempt at a Rachmaninov piano concerto and blame the music for the evening's failure. Would they? The same applies to opera.
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Very Good but Sutherland,Callas and Caballe are the great Ones in the role of Anna Bolena.
I am a huge fan of Anna Netrebko and have been crying my eyes out that I am not in NYC anymore to go see the performance... But what's up with the weight? Girl you better start running along the Hudson... I know it sounds mean, but She was so (and still is) so gorgeous on top of being a great soprano!
Beverly Sills thank you.
She had a huge sound for a lyric soprano. Too bad she went did all those heavy roles....
"disasterous failures"?
(nodding over to the red-haired chick from Brooklyn)
Tell it to her....
(Beverly Sills, for those who don't get the reference)
Netrebko is soporific. Her voice is heavy, clouded, and she's running out of breath at the end of every phrase. How could anyone think she'd be fit to interpret this part ?? She's in over her head and should stick to Operas from the Verismo period which require less technique and finesse. The MET production was really beautiful though.
Definitely
Sorry Netrebko but...POLLICE VERSO!
Even Sills had a bigger voice and sang this role with more conviction. Not sure I even like the conducting. Hopefully things have picked up a bit at the Met.
babydrane Not exactly. Sills was much like Pavarotti in that they both in reality had relatively small voices, but they knew how to use to their voice and squillo to immensely great effect.
No hay como Montserrat Caballe...
It seems that programming at MET Opera Radio has been taken over by radical feminists. Call it Amy Tan Radio now. For at least a year now, listening to them, you might think that Amy Tan, Fanny Mendelssohn and Nadja Boulanger rank with Mozart, Wagner and Verdi.
(MET Opera Radio is the MET's pay satellite channel.)
It's really an insult to women everywhere to get our noses rubbed hourly in the fact that women have produced only 3 composers of inconsequential piano ditties.

So true.....!
cultural criticism from a poorly-rendered furry, what a time to be alive
Looks pretty, but can not sing belcanto :)
...conclusion: when u cannot purely attack the note (1:44), better not sing it than slide to it and screech it
*gasp* what are you talking about??? This is one of the cleanest high Ds I've ever heard, and she didn't scoop, either. Genuinely confused as to what you are referring to.
@@sopranosfogatoacuto Cleanest high D ? Nope. You can hear she scoops up to a D6
@@danielng7795 That is neither a scoop nor a scream. It’s a portamento (portare-to carry) from a short high A to the high D above. Final high notes are done like this often in the bel canto style. The high D is dead center on pitch, UNFORCED, and long-held. That being said, making a big fuss over one note in an act that’s over an hour is pretty lame if you ask me.
More distressing to me is that she leaves out so much of Anna’s music before the high note including the dramatic pages where she sings on the offbeats. Gruberova, Sills, and Sutherland all sang those pages AND nailed a stunner of a high D. Scotto did it too, in Philly (with Ramey), and on the cutoff of the high D fainted and fell HEADFIRST down a deis at least 30 steps high. The audience went crazy. Miss Scotto had style to burn.
Well maybe only 20 steps high, but it was HIGH.
Catastrophic.
Henry VIII was the ultimate narcissist, poor Anne!
Brava, better than Sondra Radvanovski
wonderful as always, but what a pity she has put on weight!!1
Troll Much? I'd like to see you have a baby, a busy operatic career and not gain weight. and what does weight have to do with signing.
Being busy makes you lose calories - having a baby puts on weight to a woman but there are exercises to regain her slim shape. They used to say that to have a robust voice you needed a robust body, although nobody insists on kilos now. What worries me is that I like pretty girls like Anna in her prime, or Olga Peretyatko or Elina Garanca or Aida Garifullina and now Anna somehow resembles a mother-in-law
good thing nobody cares about what gets jose and alphonsus (seriously?) off
I really hope she could go on a diet, the looked a lot more prettier when she's slim
