I`m happy that you like our cakes 😍 Greetings from Germany 💖🙏💖
🥰
Just want to say, I'm planning a trip to Germany next year and you guys' videos have been the most useful thing that could possibly exist. Definitely making me realize that two weeks isn't enough time to see half the stuff I want to see, now, hah. Thank you!
Thanks so much! 🥰 We really appreciate it.
Just a little tip, if you order at Caffe Frischhut „auf die Hand“ you get a special bag that is particularly well suited (open on two sides) to eat on the go.
🤯 lol I had no idea
Wow! All of this looks so delicious, even if I got a stomach ache from just watching 🤣 We can't wait to visit Munich and go to all of these places as well as exploring all the other things in Munich you recommended.
😅 I hope you do! These Munich food tours definitely have to be spread out over multiple days lol
Love it. Some new places for us to look for when we finally get back to Munich. What I love about German desserts compared to American desserts is that they aren't over the top sweet to the point where I feel like I'm immediately going to become a diabetic. They tend to have a much better balance in my experience. (Side note, the Viktualienmarkt in Munich was our first beer garden experience so it holds a special place in our hearts!)
Totally agree!! I feel like I say that everytime I eat sweets here 😅
We also love that beer garden. It has good vibes, and hasn’t been totally overrun by tourists
Love all of your videos! We just made it to Munich, and we're looking forward to trying some of your suggestions and day trips.
Thanks so much!
Love the food and life tours of Munich (like this and of the Christmas festivals from the past). Looking forward to one featuring Biergartens. We know of your favorite…but what of some of the other best there in your experience? Keep these coming!
Thanks so much! it is in the works!
Fun video! It was nice having Camille do a bit more of the front of the camera work; well done! Also, I love Cafe Frischhut - their hours are quite German, so it can be hard to get one when I want, but I'm always happy when I manage it.
🥰 Yes! I feel like they’re closed more than they’re open during the day
Wooooooo New Video 🤘
😅 This one is right up your alley
I would love to go to Cafe Guglhupf. I´ve only been to Munich 6 or seven times in my life, visiting all the tourist hotspots, taking pictures of the Clock at Marienplatz and in the end we always found ourselves at Mcdonalds or the Augustiner "Beer Hall". Cafe Guglhupf looks like an incredible chilled place to sit down for a moment, have some capucino, some cake and look at the photos/videos you made and plan the next steps of your "adventure tour" in the heart of the city! thank you so much for this recommendation!!!
Thanks! Glad you will check it out. It is perfect while traveling 😎
Loving the video :) when you go back to True&12, definitely try the black sesame, it's amazing
Oh I will 😅😅😅
I'm looking forward to checking out your suggestions. One of my favorite pastries is the Bienenstich. Do you all have a suggestion for the best local bakery or bakeries in Munich for bread and pastries?
I love Bienenstich! We don#t really eat too much cake in Munich though. Cafe Guglhupf and Maelu are good!
True & 12's matcha green tea ice cream is on my bucket list. 🍦
I've had it before. can confirm its quality :D
Great video! Thanks for risking getting diabetes for us. 🤣 Can't wait to try out these spots the next time we visit Munich. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! 😅
Her both are be really cool makes Keep it up.
Thanks!!
Great places to go! I've never been to Café Guglhupf. But I love Café Frischhut! In my opinion, they have the best Schmalznudel/Auszogne in all of the city. We call it in here also Auszogne (undressed) since the Bäuerinnen used to stretch the dough above their knees to form the thick part around and the transparent part in the middle. In other Regions of Bavaria, they call it Knieküchle (little knee cake). But no! Don't worry! They don't do this nowadays at all. 😄
Hope you like it!
Yes, when I was reading up on what Schmalznudel actually is, it was pretty confusing. There are so many versions and different names.
Yes
🎉
There is also a great variety of Kaiserschmarren coming with some plum jam spiced with cinnamon. 🤤🤤🤤
Ahhh I’ve never had that before! Tbh it sounds better. I’ve only ever had it with vanilla sauce and apple sauce.
@@NearFromHome "Zwetschgenröster" or "Zwetschgenkompott" (plum sauce (less sugar than jam!) with plum pieces) is the Austrian original side dish to Kaiserschmarrn. Next best would be "Apfelkompott". Vanilla sauce with your Kaiserschmarrn is definatally not Austrian (as you said in the video).
Best wishes from Vienna!
@@kurteibensteiner2736 lol oops. Definitely thought it was :O
@@kurteibensteiner2736 you are right with all
Never heard of Café Guglhupf before, I'd lived in Munich from 2008-14 with hundreds of returns to the city ever since. I'll give this place a try next SAT!!!
If you guys want to taste the best coffee this city has to offer, visit Café Vits on Rumfordstraße near Isartor. Several coffee variants from multiple countries are offered there, the beans are roasted inhouse - you're also able to buy your coffee there, either ground or in whole beans to prepare at your home. Kuchen is great there as well - but don't go there on a SUN!! It's a place in which you'll only meet locals! Get at least a Cappuccino or a Latte Machiato there.....
Awesome! I will probably check it out this week. I love coffee 😅 Hope you enjoy Cafe Guglhupf
very nice video
Thank you!
I was in Munich a few weeks ago and I dont have any clue on where to eat either dessert or simple meal. I would also love to see more Munich food tour as you guys is my reference when I come back in the next 6 months haha
Luckily we have a Munich food tour and Alpine food tour! 😎
@@NearFromHome they are all great and already watched them all lol I mean more haha prost 🍻
@@kimkamkun09 :D
Now I want something sweet 🤤
Well now you have the DEFINITIVE guide 😅🥰😅
Could you make a list of the cake's. I am going to Munich next month and they look good enough to eat.
Nice, keep going.
Try Black Forest Cake or Bienenstich.
Although i haven't been there for a while, I always loved the chocolate cake un the Tambosi in Odeonsplatz. It looks bery thin but is pure chocolste melting in your mouth. What vould be better than that😅
We still haven't been there! Have been meaning to go.
ok pro tip for eating a berliner (the one with jam in the middle). first bite with the fried sides on top and bottom, if you allready reached the jam with the first one, you turn the berliner 90° that the fried sides are right and left (I used to bite now into the lower part of the berliner at this point, it's easier to handle while seeing where it could touch my face while biting). the jam hole will not be squeezed cause your teeth will bite into the jam and "open" up the hole when you do your second bite so the jam will not spit out. ( first - than | )
sry for this horrible explanation, hope you'll get it :D
HHahaha this is amazing, and I will definitely be employing it the next time we get Krapfen 😅
Just a heads up, looks like the True & 12 ice cream place is gone or closed for the winter. I can't seem to find or add it to my google map of places, 😢
Oh noooooo 😭🥲
Thank you for the update. I hope they’re not permanently closed
Any recommendations for the best black forest cake? and best apple strudel. I understand pastry chef's in Germany have to train hard and become masters to make these deserts and that they are even regulated so they need to be prepared in a very specific way to be considered legit? I would love to try some of the "real stuff" when I am in Munich in a few weeks if you know of a place.
Honestly, as a German, I personally'd recommend just go around and try for yourself, if you get the chance, so you can find what is best FOR YOU (since taste differs greatly from person to person). And do NOT go only to the touristy places, but the "homely" kind of places you mostly see locals.
Dein deutsch ist sehr gut
danke!
Is it easy for English speaking tourists to order in the restaurants/cafe that you recommended? :D
Yes. Its actually really easy to get around Bavaria with English. The English level is really excellent.
Did she say fried in lard for the donut!? Would love a video covering vegetarian lunch and dinner spots? Maybe one with ethnic foods if you’re into that.
We#ve been thinking about that for a while. Good vegetarians and ethnic food is really hard to come by in Munich.
@@NearFromHome another good why a well thought out lunch and dinner video would be worth the effort. Not many floating around and you have a legit reason.
Btw just discovered your channel. Great work!! May use your inputs when we visit later this summer.
@@amgc1978 Thanks so much! We do also have a consultation and itinerary check service if you have lots of questions. Otherwise, ask away here or email us. www.thatch.co/guide/2f8vrmaf0az7f/edit

I wonder when you finally visit Northern Germany! ;-)
Yeah :) everyone else seems to be doing their Northern Germany tour lately, lol.
@@NearFromHome Finding some roots and ancestries! 😂
And now it's your turn! 🙂
Kaiserschmarrn is an AUSTRIA dessert, has nothing to do with Germany and is NEVER served with vanillasauce
Yes? You can still get it all over Bavaria, and we like it with vanilla sauce...
@@NearFromHomeall lot of food they call Bavarian is Austrian, like Schnitzel, Tafelspitz, Zwiebelrostbraten, Germknödel, Apfelstrudel, Krapfen and so on!
