Hey guys, I loved the video as always I do, very informative and bringing such great tools for us. Just a technical point about the edition, I could hear like a breathing in the background, not sure if voice leaked or something but, anyway not the main point just an observation! Sorry I may have OCD.
im with you man, the breathing, and one guy was a bit louder than the other, so i was turning it up, and turning it down as the event went on. it distracted me from the info as well.
Hate to say it, but this won't pull from that excel file under Bobs desk. I can't even link to a SharePoint where the file could be. Files have to be in blob storage to pull from them. Honestly, I don't need everything automated. I'd like to have the ability to add a manual source, that could be linked later if automation is supported. Manual steps to copy would be helpful too! Knowing that data is in Excel1 and Bob copies data manually from Excel1 to Excel2 would be greatly helpful in identifying opportunities for automation. I really want the lineage view, but for now I'll have to stick to Visio.
Does Purview feel like it's a reasonably polished, usable product to you? It seemed very beta last I looked at it a year or two ago, wondering if it's come a long ways since then or not.
@@BucksterWoody , thanks for the video ! will we soon find Purview columns lineage with Power BI ? as well it will be good to see the lineage automatically captured when a Power bi dataset is sourcing from Synapse Serverless or Synapse Dedicated pool (currently it's not supported)
@@BucksterWoody Awesome, I like the direction it's going for sure. Probably someday we will be able to pull the definitions from Purview used in a PBI report into the report itself, that would be useful. Would make a really nice tooltip option.
@@GuillaumeBerthier This is the issue I face. Most of our data is sourced from Synapse Dedicated pool and not being able to trace data back prevents us from adopting Purview
Great video. So, I assume Purview is for Data while Syntex is just for SharePoint? Can Purview also crawl and discover content in document repositories across the enterprise? Based on the 4 tenets it seems like it's just data but would be great if there as an eDiscovery component for document repositories
Does this show if a dataset is certified? PowerBi has this feature I was wondering if it appears here too, especially with Fabric providing greater integration.
I am just wondering where this fit in a data warehouse architecture, because you have the lineage aspect, but this kind of overlps with data warehouse. Does it just stand next to it or..?
Great video but PLEASE cut your mic when you're not talking. That background heavy breathing almost made me close the video in the first 2min... Otherwise it's all good
Hi Patrick I have a Paginated Report on power bi Service. I created a MS flow to download this report on sharepoint folder. Flow is getting failed. I have power BI Pro license. Can this action ve done using PPU License Please advise, as I am confused if I purchase PPU and still it do not allow flow to download report.
Love you guys - thanks for all you do (Buck's tweets are always amusing)....and Purview makes my inner geek excited but (and it's a big BUT)....we have hundreds of thousands of columns/attributes in our org just in enterprise databases and a lot of it is unknown with column names like attribute1 (love COTS apps right?)...the thought that someone would classify every one of those is just absurd. So other than audits, what's the practical use of this tool? And if you give it read access, is it just reading metadata in sources or is it profiling the data because you do NOT want a tool running profiles on your production databases.
What happen with the Data Quality, I was taking a look to this fabulous product from Microsoft but I didn't found a tool or feature to control the data quality cross all the platform. Do you know if Microsoft have some workaround or is planning to include any kind of Data Quality control into Microsoft Purview?
Appreciate the content but I think there's some audio in this video that wasn't intended. Throughout I hear heavy breathing over the speaker and it's distracting/annoying.
Opened first non-Microsoft video, looking for some objectivity, but this video is just an ad. Also, features presented here has basically ANY tool presenting itself as data catalog or data dictionary.

Yes, the sound was too low on the other end. Patrick's breathing came out louder

The breathing...it sounds petty but it put me off.
Patrick, great job, just figure out something around the background breathing.
Patrick it's kinda annoying that you're breathing in the mic like that while Woody is talking
I struggled with this video for this very reason.

So, it can't really access nearly all your on prem data? Hmmm...
Duuuuuudes! Thanks guys! Exactly the product I was looking for!

It's gotten WAY better. And is continuing to do that.

Great Video! Restores hope in an actual Rosetta Stone that works. Buck Great to see you again!
Good video / summary of features
Why there is no any option to delete objects that were scanned???
More videos about Purview 😍
So does this include bibliographic data about the data?
Would this work with Salesforce and Zendesk sources?
Just Wow!! 👍😊 Quick question - Can it scan parquet files stored in S3??
You can document it, but no scanner at the moment!
Thanks Buck. Great to hear from you. Big fan!🙏

Can i connect visualization tools like SAP SAC to the Microsoft Pruview?

I like the name: Data Dictionary better. Will they be more videos on Purview?
Pricing?

Useful but the audio on this is terrible
is it available for dataverse

Would love to read an answer on this one!
Yea you should prob go with something more tuned to scale, like Varonis. It also has a sandbox so you don't have to commit changes on your production.

The breathing

Thanks for that! We'll fix it next time.
One of the sexiest tools I got to work with. Good luck getting it to work with an oracle database though. Still failing to do it.
The Buck...KNOWS!!!!!!!!
Anyone else bothered that the Terms and Definitions demo basically fail best practice when describing terms

Adam is usually on the left side, I am confused...
He's still around - I'm a guest singer in the trio this time :)
Whats with the sound Patrick? And after I gave you a thumbs up for great sound at PASS :)
Governance, oh governance....
patrick's mic is too loud. Buck's is too soft
😍
Thtis topic does not need "wow" "woW" every few minutes .
This is Bananas!
How about a video on how to use AI to remove breathing noises.
I like this, however I'd like a video that dumbs it down even further - explain how to use it like I'm a 2 year old.
m watching this to pas az900 hhh
The breathing ruins it
Your mic gain is way too high.
Could not concentrate on the discussion as all I could hear was heavy breathing !! :)
The heavy breathing is extremely distracting. It throws shade on level of professionalism.
love hearing all the heavy breathing and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lip smacking 👍
bro you got your nostrils all up in that mic 😂 so distracting the breathing mute that mic while the other guy is talking
