    Many, many POC do not like rain head showers. Too much time, energy and money goes into our hair (especially women) for it to be drenched at each shower

    • @akinyiomer4589

      Thank you for letting them know. Honestly I know that our hair issues will not be intuitive to other non-POC (or to be more accurate, people with 1A - 3A (ish) hairtypes; but damn.
      Sometimes a bit of blunt direction is needed otherwise you end up in not-great situations. E.g. at my high school a loooong time ago we had to have externally provided swimming lessons every fortnight. I couldn't/didn't want to participate in most as pretty much the only black girl, and with 4C hair to boot. This was back when swimming caps didn't come in anything but a "standard size" (ie those skull crushers that don't fit me and pulls on my skin). My teachers couldn't understand why I was being "difficult" because I didn't want to damage my hair, braids or no.
      And the stuff the black girls and boys have to put up with in any industry where glam is an expected part of the job! Modelling, film & TV etc ... the heartbreaking stories you hear from black people about how stylists either outright refused to do their hair or makeup, or did it badly so it left significant damage, or made them feel like a worthless POS by not having the right tools or products. I'm so glad we've moved on a lot from those days, but there's still a way to go.
      I think Fenty Beauty premiere launch era really gave most white people a f**king shock at how much every day products were not accommodating, even outright hostile to us.

      Love how the first comment is completely reasonable and the reply is just excusing herself for being ‘blunt’ aka passive aggressively rude.
      Everyday people, white or not, do not care about a make up brands mission statement to sell their customers on, that’s just the truth. That brand is 50.1% owned by LVMH anyway

    A rain head shower is nice, but if you have natural afro hair that is not locked - as he does - you can't get water on it every day.

    Speaking of closets full of stuff he doesn't wear..., I've never gotten rid of any clothing since I stopped growing unless it was worn, torn, or damaged. I dont plan on doing it either until i run out of space.
    My reason is that I never know when I'll need it again. I'm 40 now, and my wide leg jeans from college are back in style. 😊

    Thanks so much for reviewing this house! You really highlight the details that someone like me might overlook. It’s clear that this home reflects a great collaboration between the client and designer. I especially loved the sneaker closet-it looked like an art installation. I also loved the dining area.

    I really enjoyed his house! We all have different tastes in what we want our home to look like so what may not work for you is obviously on point for him, that’s the point of it. We also have to take into account why there are certain features in his home that works for him and his family compared to what we personally would’ve chose for ourselves. This home was fantastic, especially with it being one out of idk how many he owns but whoever his designer is they did a fantastic job and I wouldn’t mind learning from them as an Interior Design student.

    Do you have kids? If the kids want to keep a well maintained playset and you have the space for it, you don't pick up a fight. They will grow out of it sooner than you wish for anyway. It's not permanent hardscaping.

    I am shooketh. I love almost everything about his house. A lot of thought has went into the design and also the furniture, especially in the media room. So warm and inviting. I have to agree about the kitchen though. What points I would take off for that? I would absolutely give back for the thought that went into including his children in almost every aspect.

      Perhaps a designer is not what they wanted or could afford. We don’t know. These are their homes; they can do as they please. Whether you, or I care for someone’s taste, is a moot point. I’m just happy for those who can afford to purchase a “dream” home. Not everyone will ever have the chance to do so.

    I love this house, and it's his personal vision. The problem I have is that it's too personal. Only people who have the same aesthetic would be willing to buy it if he decided to sell it.
    The size of it is a modern version of the country house of the European Aristocracy.

      People who can afford this kind of house can afford to remodel, it's not an issue. And noone buys a property that luxurious with resale value in mind and to keep it generic. They buy it for themselves and want it to fit their taste.

      You don’t necessarily have to be rich to have “just for show” areas in your house. I have aunts who have just for show family rooms and you’re not allowed to sit in there for the sake of the furniture. I think it all comes down to you wanting to feel like you’re in a home vs a museum and that’s understandable.

    I mean he's African American, of course he won't use the term master bedroom. It's not being "that progressive", it's simply knowing one's own History.
    I feel like the fridge segment was a throwback to MTV Cribs on purpose. He must have watched it when he was younger and remembered tose details. I also got Redman flashbacks when he opened it haha, it was pretty funny.
    Love the LED zoning. I can see it becoming very popular. Totally agree about the closet rug haha, I'd be tiptoeing around it all the time to avoid walking on the kids hahaha. Hate the sitting area next to the bedroom, too much overhead lighting right in your face. But the seating itself is very cool. Actually all his seats all over the house are very cool. Especially the mama chair!

    • @kangamagic1206
      @kangamagic1206 4 місяці тому +2

      African Americans are not allergic to the term "master". Every home has a literal master -- the owner and chief resident. The word "master" also connotes mastery, hence why the two words share the same etymology. Changing the term "master" to "primary" is uniquely progressive, and is analogous to other progressive hits such as changing "Before Christ" to "Before the Common Era" and changing "woman" to "person designated female at birth" or "birthing person".

    • @lsamoa
      @lsamoa 4 місяці тому +2

      @@kangamagic1206 Well you might not be but you're more the exception that the rule. And the word "master" as in master bedroom is linked to the master of the house (originally the slave owner), not to mastering a skill or what not. That meaning is completely unrelated.
      FYI, referring to a Christian calendar as "common era" as if it was a universal thing is NOT progressive.

    • @kangamagic1206
      @kangamagic1206 4 місяці тому

      @@lsamoa Of course the word "master" is linked to the master of the house -- the master owns the house. What I am saying is that the word "master" is not some sort of racist term whose prime function was to indicate a difference between master and slave. The master of the house is the owner of the property and the leader of the house -- it denotes ownership and power over children, guests, other family, and servants/slaves. The word "master" is more rich than merely highlighting a dichotomy between slave owner and slave.
      The change to CE and BCE was just gaslighting by people who dislike that we begin dating from the birth of Christ. History is history -- the year 1 AD is associated with the first year of Christ. No one deems the year 1 to start some new "common era" as opposed to what came before it (unless by "common" we mean that we all commonly lived after the birth of Christ). People in 50 BC and 50 AD had more in common than do people in 50 AD and 2024 AD. Changing names to diminish tradition is, by definition, Progressive.

    • @lsamoa
      @lsamoa 4 місяці тому

      @@kangamagic1206 You don't need to tell us that words can have several meanings, we've all used a dictionnary before lol. Still, in this specific instance, that's exactly what this word means.
      And sorry but I'm not sure you understand the words "progressive", "common", "history" or "gaslighting" either.

    • @kangamagic1206
      @kangamagic1206 4 місяці тому

      @@lsamoa You're the one defending the thesis that "master bedroom" is inherently racist. To do so honestly, you need to be unaware that the word has multiple meanings and a richer etymological history.
      You're also the one claiming the thesis that the "Common Era" is a good term, although you have yet to defend it. So please enlighten us: why is 0 AD a good place to start "the Common Era"?

It's not a home- it's an empty monument to his own wealth. This is the opposite of authenticity in home design. There's probably no human anywhere for whom this house is appropriately scaled- anyone rich enough to afford it doesn't live the lifestyle that would keep it full and lively, homey and safe.
