    I used to live here. Looking for a bigger house after my girl was born, couldn’t afford any thing in the neighborhood, forced to move to Naperville. I really enjoy my time in Elmhurst though.

      How is Naperville ?

      @@keke6875 You probably heard of Naperville because it usually makes on the list of best suburbs in America. One thing about Naperville is its relative large size with over 90 subdivisions. My block is built in 1990s so you get some ideals. Most are 2 story Georgian style houses over 3000 sq living space. The power line is buried underground so you never get power outage which is nice. Schools are decent but you have to deal with snobby neighborhood kids. Downtown Naperville is top notch, I have to say it beats my other two favorite suburban downtowns (Elmhurst of course and Arlington Heights). It also has a nationally ranked public library comparable to Elmhurst’s if that matters to you. Naperville even has an Apple Store, just FYI.

    lodging for every taste and budget:
    poor guy: i want to live here.
    Elmhurst: u r not welcomed.

      Tell me about it. A modest tear down costs a fortune. Even town houses are listed over 500k. Plus the high property tax rate.

    Where's the Sky High Drive In?

    • @Discoverdupage
      @Discoverdupage  9 років тому

      BackSeatHump It is no longer in business. If you're looking for a nearby drive-in, there is one in West Chicago called Cascade Drive-In.

      I live in Sweden so the” Cascade Drive-In” isn't really “nearby”. I lived in
      Elmhurst on W. Avery and later on the corner of North Ave. and Addison. But that was in the late fifties and early sixties. The “Sky High Drive-In” was close to my address on Avery. There used to be a place called “Hamburger Heaven” near my address on Addison but I suppose that's gone too, heh?

      Happy to report, Hamburger Heaven is still around! Great to hear that you used to live in DuPage. Hope you can make it back this way for a visit!

      Yes, it's been a long, long time since I was there. 1975. The name “Du Page” means many things to me. My uncle bought a house on the Du Page airport and it was there he put his hand-built airplane through its paces on its virgin flight. That was about 1957 or 1958. Then, while I was on leave from Vietnam, my cousin crashed in his two-seater trainer there. He
      survived but the other guy didn't. That was the end of June 1967. By
      the way, if you figure out who I am or who my family is that's OK only please don't use any names here. There are some very nasty
      people on the web.
      Great to know that the grill at Hamburger Heaven is still hot! :)
