  • This video demonstrates Laparoscopic Maryland Dissector by Dr R K Mishra at World Laparoscopy Hospital. The Maryland dissector blades extend away from the aluminum tube and curve away from the longitudinal axis of the aluminum tube. The pivot pin extends through through-holes in the blades which are sized to permit pivotal movement of the blades around the pivot pin and to permit limited angular displacement of the blades relative to the pivot pin. Laparoscopic Maryland Dissector is used in laparoscopic surgery for dissection and homeostasis.

If you are having trouble opening your Maryland instrument, there are a few things you can try:
      Check the lock:
Maryland instruments have a locking mechanism to keep them closed when not in use. Make sure the lock is disengaged before attempting to open the instrument.
Apply lubricant: If the instrument is new, it may be tight or stiff. Applying a small amount of lubricant, such as medical-grade silicone oil, to the joint area may help loosen it up.
Use a silicone pad: If the joint is still tight, you can try using a silicone pad or other non-slip material to help grip the instrument and provide better leverage when opening it.
Check for damage: If none of these steps help, it is possible that the instrument is damaged or defective. Check the instrument for any signs of damage, such as bent or misaligned parts, and contact the manufacturer or seller for assistance.
