You should get connected with the Northeast Harbor Fleet in Maine. They actively race L16s and IODs. I was at their L16 International event this summer. Great organization. They have restored many many boats. Look them up!
I'm happy to see that a boat as beautiful as this has found an owner to restore her. Few of these hot-molded boats were built and even fewer of them survive. It's an American type that deserves to be in a maritime museum. But it is even better to have the Fury actually sailing!
Thanks Arthur! It was quite a find. It has been stored in a building for over 10 years I was told. I recognized the cabin when my brother sent me a picture. He was asked to broker the boat and I texted back that I would buy it right then. I knew it was a treasure.
Grew up sailing out of Wilson, cruised every summer through your area! I do miss it. Note: if that tumor on the side of the ballast keel is an added anode, it should be magnesium in fresh water. Zinc only works in salt water. A clue might could be found in the provenance of the boat. Keep videos coming of her!!
Wilson Harbor is a beautiful place to sail out of. I bought my first wooden sailboat there back in 1992. It was a Knarr. I will check to see if that is an anode. I didn’t even think of that. And, magnesium for fresh water… that I also was unaware of. Thanks!
Apologies for describing hardware as brass -- it is all bronze.

Yep! I am a member of their Google group. I’ve gotten in touch and have received great advice. Thanks!

The bulb on the keel may be an old zinc abode?
You were the first to mention that. It makes sense. Thanks!
