The video portrays the need to update their pistol training modules. They are not locking their elbows and their grip on the pistol is better suited for a revolver.
This is a cqb handgun stance; anything else will be with a rifle or shotgun. Weaver or the old teacup stance works still but, this is all they need to be able to do, this is done after transitioning and advancing on a target.
Its called familiarization fire. Basically they are teaching you how to hold and fire the weapon, not how toshoot and move tactically. These are logistics Marines who are generally not expecting to see close combatand may find themselves doing duties where its more efficient for their work to issue them a pistol over haulinga rifle around.
It's a matter of training time and need. Those are logistics Marines and they were much more likely to be issuedRifles for everyday duties then a sidearm but need to know how to use one anyway. This isn't DEVGRU or Deltathe FBI, or civilian Police Agencies who are trained to a higher standard with pistols because that platform isan everyday carry weapon. Same with non LE civilians. If you shoot handguns all the time, you are going to be better at it then someone who doesn't. There are plenty of civilian firearms "fail" videos out there to show manyweekend warriors make for a good laugh too.
To be honest and I mean no offense but I have seen first time shooters shoot pistols better than this. Their stances are just awful. The gun is controlling them rather than they controlling the gun. I know the military doesn't really focus on pistol marksmanship but this is kind of disheartening.

Obviously in the very beginning stage of learning
They seem so unfamiliar with their pistols the way they handle and manipulate them.

Beretta M9...the legend
Sucks to shoot in the wind like that.
Does the carriers forward movement affect the qualification?

This is just shooting, NOT training!
