I’ve only read one of the books on your list and it’s Pride and Prejudice 😂. That book (and most Jane Austen) have my heart. It’s proof that I rarely enjoy a romance unless it’s a period/historical romance or something weird/poetic/epic like How to Lose the Time War
Hi! As someone also in my 30s, I relate to the not being into YA romances anymore. Loved hearing your thoughts! I have a couple of these books that I've been holding off on reading, I might give them a chance eventually but idk (It Ends With Us, The Love Hypothesis, and Things We Never Got Over)
Sometimes book title may be misleading and buy a book that you think it's gonna be great and you realise after reading the first pages it'll be soooo boring!!! And it's so hard to push through it!!! So it's a labour that you haven't DNF any book!!! Another great vlog Jaime!!!
Would you recommend getting into SJM through ACOTAR or ToG? I listened to ACOTAR two years ago and didn’t like the narrator, but the love for SJM seemingly just keeps growing and I think I need to give her another chance!
Hi Jamie! So good to see you talking about books, as I am a reader myself! Have been following you ever since your initial workout videos! ♥️😊 Can I ask what props you use to make such videos? In terms of camera, mic, etc..? I’m planning to embrace booktube as well. 🤭
Hi love!! I’m so glad you’ve been following along with the whole journey ❤️ The camera I use is the canon m100, although I want to upgrade it at some point this year if I save enough 😂 I’ve just been using the in camera mic but I recently got the DJI wireless mic (you’ll see in the next video) to upgrade my audio. My first ever videos were just filmed using an iPhone tho so you can start with anything really!
I still think about how I DNF The Poppy War (I’ve commented about this a couple times). I just did not like the main character. I was just about to start what I think was the actual war but I just didn’t like her 😂 but you loved the whole series so much I feel like I need to do it lol
Omg 😂😂 it’s definitely one of my fav series of all time at this point. I can see why you wouldn’t like the main character tho, she’s very morally grey and continues down a VERY grey path so it really could go either way 😂
There are just far too many books out there to punish yourself by reading ones you hate, with characters you don't like, etc. DNF guilt-free! Sometimes I DNF in the first chapter when it's terribly written. I can tolerate boring more so than poorly written, though I know not everyone else can.
With classics I have to watch the movie before I read the book so I am already invested and have some idea of what is going on. That and half the time I will listen to the audiobook instead of physical so it is more immersive
My most recent books that I disliked were Lovelight Farms by BK Borison and The Four Winds by Kristen Hannah. I liked the premise of Lovelight Farms but I wanted more of them building their relationship from becoming friends to acting the part of being in love then actually falling in love… I just felt like they were in love in page one… and it was a little more spicy than I prefer. I was wanting some hallmark movie levels here 😅. The Four Winds was really well written, but it was so DEPRESSING! Obviously it was set in the dust bowl… so it has to be somewhat depressing but I got done reading it, and I just didn’t get the point of the story and I just felt really sad. I had to read a cozy murder mystery as a palette cleanser after this one.
hahah i feel you on lovelight farms! i feel like most of my enjoyment in that book was due to the fact that i read it around christmas haha. i'm about to get into some kristin hannah (her other books) so we shall see how i like those!
All good people here was such a let down, I did not enjoy. There kind of was a twist, but it was about the reporter Margot and was inspired by true crime…and then we have no idea if Margot lives or dies at the end. I recently spoke about it in a recent video 😞 but yeah I did not love it.
I actually DNFed Pride and Prejudice years ago. It was boring and I remembered I don’t like reading romance. I’m currently reading ACOSF and y’all weren’t exaggerating about the nasty scenes. I’m enjoying the book, the secret is just skipping those scenes altogether lol. They’re too much. I can’t read another ‘feasting’ scene 😭.
I DNF'd Summer Sisters by Judy Blume last month. Entirely too much promiscuity from young girls. Not for me and too many good books to read to be wasting time on one I didn’t enjoy!
A recent book that I didn’t like was On earth we’re briefly gorgeous ( everyone loves it ik 😂🥲) it wasn’t for me ! The writing was pretty , i liked it in bits and pieces but as a whole it wasn’t for me !
we have another 24 hour challenge reading vlog coming on Wednesday, might be valentines related ❤👀
omg i am sooo EXCITED!!!AHHHHHH
@@bookwormtalks714 it’s gonna be a good one!
Ooh, exciting!🤍🤍🤍 Happy Sunday!

There are definitely better romances out there, but totally give them a try!

If you prefer fantasy, throne of glass! If you’re into romance, ACOTAR :)
Throne of glass is my personal fav ❤️
@@jaimefok yay thank you! ❤️

Came here for fitness, stayed for reading content! What's your goodreads? I'd love to follow you!
YAY I’m so glad! You can just search my name and you should find me!
I almost expect you to bring back the little chart you used to rate your workouts to rate the books 😅

You did not do that to pride and prejudice 😂😂
Omg should I bring the chart back 😂😂

LOL I’m with you on these opinions 😂 ACOSF had a great plot but sadly got overshadowed by all the smut for me lol. Skipping them is key.

Just finished The Villa- was listed as a thriller… hmm missed the mark for me but was entertaining for the most part
Oh interesting!
Ofcourse, Coho gets the jail section and SJM gets the actually good tier….😏
😂😂
I DNF'd Summer Sisters by Judy Blume last month. Entirely too much promiscuity from young girls. Not for me and too many good books to read to be wasting time on one I didn’t enjoy!
I need to be better at this!
The secret history was the first book I dnfd in over two years 😭 it was so boring I couldn’t push through it
