    This video needs to be more popular. Father Mike absolutely nailed this one. Im proud of all the other Catholics strengthening their argument for their faith. In my opinion belief should be based on a combination of scripture and logic.

    Exactly. I’ve been speaking on this but it’s obviously a problem these days. People can’t even accept the objective truth that they’re either a man or a woman and they can’t change it no matter what they do. If people can’t accept the most rudimentary truth, then it’s no wonder why belief in God is decreasing.

    If you are a religious person watching this video and want to understand an important problem atheists have with theists in the Abrahamic religion, skip to 16:00. Fr Mike tells a wonderful story about his interpretation of a red painting, only to throw it away, because the intent of the artist is more valuable than his own opinion.
    My dad worked long hours for an employer during the beginning of his marriage to my mom. They were struggling financially but his employer told him that he would be taken care of. When he was let go, his severance package was a large wooden desk. As years followed, he grew a hatred for that desk.
    When he finally had an opportunity to get rid of it, I asked if I could have it instead. Even after his story, and his desire for me to donate it, I explained what his desk meant to me. My dad felt the desk was a representation of his failure as a provider for his family, but not me. I saw it as a symbol of perseverance and determination. Those qualities inspired me to be the father and husband I am today. Decades later, even after my dad passing, I still own his desk.
    Going back to the video. This nihilistic notion of worth solely based on the God you worship and meaningless if God doesn't exist is mind boggling to a non-believer. If God doesn't exist, it is on us as humans to assign values and purpose.

    Brothers and sisters if we only criticize the message that the Holy spirit has worked through this man than we are not truly listening. We are only finding reasons for us and others to not believe in this message. And besides I bet if anyone messaged father mark I believe he would be more than happy to answer anything he might of wrongfully addressed and any other questions any one else might have!!! JacksonGraham27 he’s lying to you.
      So scientists stand up at meeting like this telling each other that gravity is real.
      Tell me who wrote the gospels?

    • @myopenmind527
      @myopenmind527 6 років тому

      JacksonGraham27 that’s what most Christians were taught and told to believe but it’s not what serious biblical scholars believe and for good reasons.
      Have you read the notes in your copy of the Bible regarding the authorship of the gospels?
      ua-cam.com/video/rhM5lbVBgkk/v-deo.html

    • @myopenmind527
      @myopenmind527 6 років тому +2

      JacksonGraham27 no Biblical scholar of significant standing thinks the gospels were written by Matthew, Mark Luke and John.
      Likewise Yeshua (Jesus) was not born in Bethlehem.
      Mary was not a virgin (this misconception stems from a mistranslation).
      Mark the earliest gospel makes no reference to Jesus being seen alive after his crucifixion.
      Adam and Eve, Abraham and Moses are legendary characters not real people. The exodus never happened.
      Scholarship has a way of exposing Christianity as a lie.
      Most seminary students are taught these things early on but they won’t share that. Instead they tell comforting lies like this guy.
      That’s immoral.

    • @myopenmind527
      @myopenmind527 6 років тому +1

      JacksonGraham27 I’m sorry to heart that. You should ask why. Most of the priest I know here in Europe are fully aware of these facts but don’t mention it when giving sermons, probably for good reasons.
      I know it should be obvious to all but I do think that is worth staying again and again #Truth doesn’t demand belief.

    • @myopenmind527
      @myopenmind527 6 років тому +1

      JacksonGraham27 is what you are claiming is that the Bible is historically accurate?
      That is simply not true of either the Old or the New Testament.
      I’ve already highlighted the nativity, virgin birth, exodus etc
      We can add the genesis creation myth, Noah’s flood etc etc
      Take the #resurrection Christianity’s central claim.....

    13:30 - "If there is no god, then you have no free will and your brain is just stuff hitting stuff hitting stuff".
    Your logical fallacy is: the appeal to consequences. You may find a certain conclusion undesirable, but that tells you nothing as to whether or not it is true....and this not too many minutes after he was _just_ talking about how feelings don't matter to truth. Facepalm.

    I think Mike skipped over complexity (aka chaos) theory in his discussion of "Everything was pre-programmed at the Big Bang". Or maybe he thinks "God created complexity theory"? Keep moving the goalposts on physics to "God did it", like has been done by certain believers for 500 years?

    All matter exists within the visible light spectrum. Our physical bodies are also made up and seen because of that specteum, so then, it's not a surprise that the red painting was intriguing. It's a sub/conscious representation of a significant life force that exists within and exterior to us. Red is symbolic of blood, passion, sex, danger, and is a host to other Color Theory meanings. Common idioms like "gut feeling" (associated with the color yellow and the belly) and "hits between the eyes" (associated with Indigo and spiritual sight) kind of subconsciously clue us into the existence of how color actually, physically, spiritually, and kinesthetically affect us.
    I can completely relate to not ever feeling loved, it's an energy that is exchanged between persons that is born out of the heart and is exchanged from that position. Most ppl do not know how to operate from that place. They tend to operate from more ego driven areas like from their needs of security and comfort, sex and physical care. So, needless to say, because they have not secured these things they have a hard time operating from the higher centers of spiritual sharing and heart-felt giving.
    This line of experiential study moves the subjective to the objective. When this occurs, God is then better understood because He operates on our feelings and emotions to direct us sometimes, especially if we do not hear Him.

    • @ameliaolson7580
      @ameliaolson7580 Рік тому +1

      @@saralea5508 Yeah, I agree. I went to school with a guy that was double majoring in Psych and Marketing. He said it was to manipulate sales. I lost all respect for him in that moment and my naivety regarding such things dropped to the floor in that same instant. It hadn't ever occurred to me before that second that ppl actually thought like that.
      When you study external and internal drives and influences, perception, and spiritual guidance, it makes you seriously wonder why God allows your receptive facilities to see and/or be influenced by anything not of Him when you dedicate yourself to Him and His cause.
      Truly coming to know Him is the only reason that I can gather. If you find yourself questioning whether or not it's Him, the question most often begs the answer..., it ain't Him. And, whatever/whomever it actually is needs to be uncovered for greater spiritual growth, development, and understanding.
      Happy journey, God bless, and thank you for your input.

    Ask them what real is? Yourself also, "The wind blows...". John 3:8.
    Where are you? It ain't the human body but the human being, Genesis 1:26.
    What body part is the most of you, child?
    What is hair about to you? And what part of your body? The nose hairs are very important in their purpose to the health of your human body.
    Why does the apparel gained of you in this World make you more? Not just talking about clothing. The achievements of the human body or human mind and the aesthetics gained in this World.
    Art is a fart from Hell to mislead you from your human heart [the spiritual one] to be HIM on Earth. Nudity is depravity and immodest dress.
    Define modest. Yes it is about the covering of the human body but your human heart most. Why do you need? Ask our dearest Holy Spirit to discern the spirits in this World. Many are NOT of Heaven. The Culture of this World that rules most.
    Ask our Lord to reveal you to yourself. You will not like that sight that pride and selfishness rules most, and the demons hailing you royalty. Did enough to matter. Truth hurts when living Him in His Love and His Will. The taint of the first Eve is gained our human hearts.
    9 "𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓱𝓾𝓰𝓮 𝓭𝓻𝓪𝓰𝓸𝓷, 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓽 𝓼𝓮𝓻𝓹𝓮𝓷𝓽, 𝔀𝓱𝓸 𝓲𝓼 𝓬𝓪𝓵𝓵𝓮𝓭 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓭𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓵 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓼𝓪𝓽𝓪𝓷, 𝔀𝓱𝓸 𝓓𝓔𝓒𝓔𝓘𝓥𝓔𝓓 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝔀𝓱𝓸𝓵𝓮 𝔀𝓸𝓻𝓵𝓭, 𝔀𝓪𝓼 𝓽𝓱𝓻𝓸𝔀𝓷 𝓭𝓸𝔀𝓷 𝓽𝓸 𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓱, 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓲𝓽𝓼 𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓮𝓵𝓼 𝔀𝓮𝓻𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓻𝓸𝔀𝓷 𝓭𝓸𝔀𝓷 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓲𝓽."
    [Revelation 12:9]
    When the demons are NOT a constant battle to you gaining Heaven, they own you. What is your vice on Earth? Or are you a saint on Earth that could NEVER be MOTHER. EVER BLESSED VIRGIN, without sin.

    Father Schmitz,
    You're misconstruing determinism in two ways:
    1) Determinism doesn't necessarily exclude "free will". An approach, within determinism, called "compatibilism" posits elaborate explanations of how "free will" is possible in a physically determined Universe.
    2) The view which you identify as "determinism" - held, notably, by Laplace, has been challenged by Quantum Theory and Heisenberg's Indeterminacy principle, which posits that the movement of sub-atomic particles is intrinsically probabilistic - not determinable, that is.

    • @FedjaPavlovic

      +Fedja Pavlovic
      1) He is not misconstruing determinism. He is making an argument for an incompatiblist view of determinism. If you disagree with him, you need to explain why compatiblism is true and incompatiblism is false.
      2) Indeterminacy would not make our actions free, it would make them random.

      lininomartino the principal of non objection. A thing can not be and then not be at the same time in the same way. God can’t be Krishna and Buddha. God would not contradict himself by telling one group “I am the only way...have no other false gods” and then tell another “there are millions of gods” and then tell another group “there is no god “. He won’t say this is the path to salvation and then mislead others with contradicting guidelines.
      I believe all people- be them Buddhist or Hindu or Muslim or catholic or Protestant are saved only through Jesus Christ . It’s not Krishna or Buhdda or Allah who will save their souls because those are not the one true God. It’s possible for people to be wrong but still end in eternal friendship with God because he knows each person’s hearts, their conscience , how much they knew in regards to the fullness of faith .its also possible for someone to be born into the fullness of faith and NOT avail themselves to the sacraments, not answer the call to daily conversion, not love God and serve others sincerely .
