Loved TDP, hated the Heroine singles but once the full LP came out I was hooked and it quickly became one of my favorite albums of all time. Now anything this band touches Im a big fan of. Definitely an extension of the Heroine era here, but definitely a newer direction as well. Cant wait to hear more!
agreed with this for sure. i see what they were looking for in obsession and viper room - and this was that same direction just slammed harder. love the groove and the melody. drum double kicks heaven and cymbal disintegration, lol. Love this new direction (also a major fanboy of the old old heavy ish too)
I got introduced to Thornhill via Heroine and i absolutely adored the fuck out of it. I was less fond of TDP when i first heard it than Heroine but it grew on me a ton and Heroine and TDP are now 2 of my favorite albums of all time, this single shocked me from how it to me feels different to how it felt from everything else that they've put out and i absolutely love it for that. Great single, Heroine is a 10/10. TDP is a 10/10 and all the singles i heard are a 10/10, i'm a certified Thornhill glazer
Obsession was my most played track this year. Been loving everything they have been doing since heroine, so i have been pumped with every release they put out.
Man I swear call me crazy but I can't name a better band name all genres mixed than Thornhill. They are just too good, TDP is my favourite album of all time and when I thought i didnt fw their new stuff, they drop that bomb like what... That song gave me chills and I was litterally hungry for more when it ended. Massive.
I spoke to the drummer when I saw them live and he gave me a preview of their new stuff and yeah it's gonna be very heavy and very wild. He said they're trying to create their own unique genre which is quite a feat. Also, the other two songs they have released are not part of the album, they were experimental tracks and this album will be it's own entity.
This one is insane. The chorus is huge, the diversity in texture while remaining cohesive is wild, huge stompy drive. Incredible stuff. Absolute adore this. We have what's distinctly Thornhill with the best parts of Loathe/Deftones and early 2000s numetal.
I kinda feel like i'm in the minority for thinking that the dark pool isn't all that great, aside from a few songs. I am glad that they are deciding to lean more into the sound that they built on Heroine, but with a bit more of an edge and polish.
So glad I invested in this band. Just got a TDP wall flag to add to my collection. Yeah its more of the deftones thing but it sounds awesome and thats enough for me tbh
Personally really enjoyed this track. It feels very Shoegaze like some of the tracks from Heroine but brings in some heavy elements from their earlier stuff. Also got some Nu-Metal vibes in this track
That was a top notch old Thornhill vibe, hope they go straight back to this sound, cause they rock! As you said on the beginning, i would recommend to checkout a couple of bands if you haven't heard anything from them and has some Thornhill vibes for me, Revaira with the track Invisible, and Deadlights with the song Frozen Over ! Cheers 🤘
Thornys new sound takes me a little longer to get behind, but there is no doubt that the songs are unbelievable - I just understand the necessity to allocate a few repeat listens whilst reading the lyrics for myself to connect. Chorus is top tier
I LOVE TDP, but Blue Velvet is my favourite Thornhill track. I love both their heavy and softer sounds, so I'm ready to devour everything they throw at us. Love that Jacob is still keeping the sexy vocals in. A nice blend of heavy and sexy would be great. Can't wait to see what the rest of the album will sound like. I think this one is a banger, don't love it as much as some of their other songs, but I still love it. It's a great start to this new Thorny era
@DrewFortune97 definitely take a look at it when you can, the mixing is a bit different from dark pool but not necessarily in a bad way. lavender is a banger
I wasn't a fan of most of the Herione stuff because of the production on the vocals. The mic constantly sounds like it's clipping. It's an intentional choice on their part, but just not for me. But I saw them live this summer and they were AMAZING live. The singer (I don't remember his name, sorry!) sounded PHENOMENAL live. It made me go back and listen to the album again and while I still don't care for the production I like it more now having heard some of it live. But every single they've put out SINCE that album I have loved. This one is no exception. I really like them. This is going to sound weird, but I kind of find them to be a heavier version of Muse more than Deftones.
I hold TDP as a top 3 album, while I don't care for heroine except for a few tracks, but I've come around to really like the new singles, and nerv is sick, definitely a step in the right direction for me
Still not Dark Pool level, but definitely better than the stuff they made after Dark Pool. I don’t think we’ll ever see a return to the golden age of Thornhill, sadly. I wish they did something more similar to currents, and just focus on improving your most successful sound (which for Thornhill, would be dark pool)
Hey man, yeah you’re right my mic situation has been awful for the past while. I got a new PC which has the loudest fans and I’ve been struggling to get rid of the ‘hissing’ sound from the fans which you can hear pretty much every time I speak. Also, moved into a new apartment recently which as you can see from the video is pretty bare bones and empty, so the echo in the room is awful too. I’ve found that if I speak closely into the mic it helps prevent echo, but that obviously adds to the likelyhood of popping 😅 And to add to all of that, I have to constantly have the window open in the room as I run a cable outside for my internet, so there’s always noise from outside creeping in😢 But I’ll see if I can at least sort the popping out 👀
I'm sorry but nerv and obsession clear everything off TDP. Can't stand how much some people glaze TDP like it's the second coming of christ when it's just not. It's very clearly rough around the edges in the vocal department before Jacob found a Jeff Buckley inspired vocal style that suits him in Heroine and these singles. Nerv and Obsession are combinations of the grooves from Heroine and heaviness from butterfly and a bunch of different genre blends that are far more creative than just melodic metalcore
Thornhill's new sound is too dirty, merges with the noise, on the 2019 album the sound was clean, the heroine of 2022 is dirty, but at an acceptable level, the sound is dirty, but with clean vocals, and the track is nervous, I don't understand how to listen because of such guitars and extreme vocals. It's just noise. if the new album is all like this, I will be disappointed, but I like the heroine, if anything, no less than the dark pool
Thoughts on this track? 💭
Weird vocal effect, but i like it so far. One of the best Thornhill songs ever.
Pretty hard, but still prefer the overall feel of the dark pool
Headbang riff+Deftons+Metalcore+Thall drops taste,mix well,hit song!
Banger
Saw them live in Leeds last night and they played it and it fucking slaps live

I was in exactly the same boat. it took a minute for heroine to grow on me but when it did it was magical. never doubting the lads again
Same honestly nerv kinda won me over again, heroine kinda works for me now
This is my favorite of their new singles and I really liked Obsession, I think this is a fantastic song
Viper room is my favourite of the 3 but I love all of them
now THIS is doing 'something different' done right. Instant hood classic.
Gauze - Deftones

For me, Thornhill can do no wrong. I appreciated the double bass kicks on this one.

One thing I realised with this new thornhill era is that the songs are 2x better live. I cannot imagine how heavy this will sound live ❤
Seeing them on Saturday and praying they play the new one 🙏
It is insane how hard Thornhill goes live
i heard it live before it was officially released, and honestly, i much prefer it live. it was incredible!!
Obsession was my most played track this year. Been loving everything they have been doing since heroine, so i have been pumped with every release they put out.
this is the problem when your first big release is in the mix for best metalcore album of all time

The scream at 1:19 (in the track not the video) sounds godly asf. I really enjoyed this on the first listen. Have high hopes for their next album.
“😫core”
They played this live this week, so good!
This track made me dizzy 😵 it goes so hard
2nd listen was definitely amazing but 3rd listen it just absolutely clicked
Never really heard of this band, but what a song
Gonna be on repeat for the rest of the year
Yeah if you go listen to the The Dark Pool by them all the way through you’ll just be floored by the song writing
so fkn good

On the hunt, looking for, searching for, looking out for, really anything but that mate lmfao 😂
going to see them in glasgow today, cannot wait cause this songs a banger
You have listened to the butterfly ep right? Way more similar to their dark pool sound
Nope, need to get on it still!
@DrewFortune97 definitely take a look at it when you can, the mixing is a bit different from dark pool but not necessarily in a bad way. lavender is a banger
@@DrewFortune97 if you love the dark pool youre missing out
thornhill do no wrong in my mind, idc how they change their sound anymore because they kick ass no matter what they do
My question is WTF are Moodring gonna do now? 😂
Dude I want another Moodring album so bad their so good!
Bro this is their best work to date idc. it still has darkpool vibes. Heavy fs. They have to grow from darkpool sound

#HornyForThorny
love me some Drew reactions but it feels like his mic is like, popping more than i remember? Maybe it's on my end, idk. Pops on the D's, C's, B's, T's

Plenty of recent videos where I’ve been extremely impressed man✅

Thornhill 13 ep is the best

deftones did it better 30 years ago.
