alaha I live in Texas, but in San Antonio, where Harvey didn't hit. But I'm glad to see all of these people, famous or not, helping out the port aransas and Houston area. I'm also happy to see people so strong after the big hit, and they still have the heart, they were brace enough to help all of the kids, elders, and pets of the areas!

(Sorry to be _that guy,_ but as someone who has lost family members to Katrina seeing people take an uncaring attitude about such things really pisses me off.)

My sister who lives near Dallas left yesterday to assist victims of hurricane Harvey. She works for CPS which allows her to go there to help and assist children who have been displaced by the storm.

The entire state of Oregon is on fire right now, I've donated to the Harvey cause, but I've got a disaster at home currently as well.
Manyamz I live 40 miles west of Portland and there is so much ash up here and the air is so bad
I live in Portland and the ash and smoke is crazy thick, and it's depressing to know we're losing so much of the beautiful Gorge, but I know I have it lucky and so many are in very real danger. I hope everyone suffering from these and other disasters stays safe!!
I live in western Washington and the kids at the school I work at weren't allowed to go out to recess. Too much ash.

For the last six years or so the forest fires have gotten so much worse it seems. I hike a lot, and every year various popular hiking areas burn down here in Oregon and Washington. The Gorge fire isn't even close to being the worse one in the last five years or this year, but it is the most "local" to my homecity, Portland. In 2015, a 50,000 acre fired burned up the east side of Mt. Adams. In 2012, a 20,000 acre fire burned up the west side of Mt. Adams, making the mountain 75% burned.
The Three Sisters Wilderness is now completely burned as of this summer, almost 100%.
Mt. Hood is 30% burned.
Mt. Jefferson is now almost 80% burned around it's perimeter.
I never remember seeing this much fires before. It is so sad.
I work down the street from a Houston Food Bank and yesterday I saw so many semi trucks parked outside waiting to drop off donations! It warmed my heart so much! I'm proud to be a Houstonian and a Texan Mythical Beast! Thank y'all so much for sending some love to Houston.

My cousin is lost😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 my aunt and uncle and younger cousin are together but my older cousin got lost😭😭😭😭😭 we don't know if she's safe or not but she's not with our family and we are praying someone can find her and bring her to us. Hurricane Harvey is horrible and I pray for the ones who have lost loved ones or their house and belongings

I live in Houston I didn't flood luckily but a lot of people did and that monster truck thing a lot of people with monster trucks helped and I agree only in texas
Ghostly Wolf 64 no, lots of people brought trucks from around the country. I brought my truck and was able to save 5 separate families from their flooded home. In the 2 days I was able to be there.

I fear with Irma coming and being more powerful, the people affected by Harvey may be forgotten about. I urge everyone to remember everyone. We can open our arms and wallets to anyone who needs our help. Nobody closes ranks like Americans.

It's so sad to me that something like this has to happen in order for us to care about one another. I agree that when we come together, we achieve great things. It just seems like the only time we really solidify as one nation is in the midst of total devastation. Afterwards, we seem to forget that we each are one small part of an entire country. Bottom line- we all have different ideals and morals, but when it comes down it, we all want to live happy, productive lives. I hope that we can remember this in years to come.

Now we have another hurricane to worry about. Hurricane Irma is coming and may make it to southern Florida. Apparently, it's going to be stronger than Hurricane Katrina. I think it's also going to hit near the Caribbean and Cuba. If you're near that area just be careful. ❤

I'm sitting here as (a weakened) Irma passes through Ga, just a tropical storm now but still the winds are so powerful that they have brought down trees. Wind and rain was so strong all day there was nobody on the roads. Praying for all of those who were affected by Irma, Harvey, and the fires. 💖
I am in Houston and live very close to gallery furniture and saw the amount of work the owners did for those affected. It was amazing to see people from all walks of life helping each other.
I wish I could donate more, but my college budget gets in the way. - As a Texan, I've seen so many trapped because of the hurricane. Many university students (my classmates included) had to start school late because they got stuck. My suitmate's house got flooded. It's crazy.

My dad is a Texas state trooper. We live 8 hours from Houston and he had to go down there for 10 days. He came home for one day just to wash his clothes and he heads back this morning at 2am for 10 more days. Thanks for supporting the cause.

I love how much they donate. Most places donate one huge amount, but I love how they donate as much as they can to help not only people, but pets too. Its obvious how much they care. It makes my heart happy😊
I live in Houston and luckily got through Harvey. Roads have been a nightmare lately since I-10 has been closed.
Thanks everyone who is helping the less fortunate. My neighborhood did not flood luckily, even though I'm close to the addicks reservoir. Across the park from me it's still flooded.

One way my family is help with relief today is by donating supplies to our local high school: so many children are going to be displaced because of Harvey that they very well may end up having to do their school year in a new school district. Also, thanks so much GMM for sending love to Texas! I may have not been in the area of devastation but the whole state has been affected one way or another, whether it be gas shortages or grocery shortages. My region and the other regions of Texas have been doing their best to help out the coast but we do need help with our effort, so thank you so much for raising awareness and offering easy ways to donate to help relief. Love ya, GMM!

Hurricane Harvey really did show to all of us that when something happens we really come together. I am thankful it didn't flood inside my house but it did come close. If you were to drive around some neighborhoods around us you come see actually how many people got flooded and it's really very sad. I have been helping out at my church where we give people food and other needs. I really appreciate all the support that the whole US has done to help everyone who suffered from Harvey.
