Hopefully I won't have to mow my lawn anymore! ;) Subscribe to How Farms Work ► bit.ly/XYVvDd Facebook ► on. YpS8oH How Farms Work Store ► bit.ly/HFWStore
Thanks, my husband passed away in December and I'm heading out to the garage to start it up and mow for the first time. It was nice to watch you teach your wife. She did great! I can only hope my first time goes as well :)
This is a very sturdy and well built mower. I thought I wouldn't like the foot operated speed control but after one use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTZSPVwJFBv2hORqhQamtxi-tAe5K2EtC , I can't believe I ever had one without it. It drives like a car with an automatic transmission. Easy to adjust mowing speed according to grass depth/thickness. I have yet to get used to the long throw of the blade engagement lever but kind of get why it is that way. It allows you to hold mowing for short moments if you need. The engine seems very substantial and the frame has very little flex, both adding up to an impressive package. All my previous tractors were 18 to21 hp with 42in decks. This one is 23/46. I mow about 1.5 acres about every 5 days here in Alaska and that mowing time has been reduced by about 20%, partly due to the very tight turning radius. No loop arounds lol. Hour meter, cruise control, reverse mowing capability, deck cleanout and easy assembly all add up to a very well thought out tractor.
Ryan, I think you want your lawn looking better than it ever does, when you are mowing it. Jamie improves the view, and gets it done. I wonder who will do the haying next year? My best to the lovely lady. It is a joy to see you both.
This is really cool! Just an idea if you have two lawn tractors you can do it at the same time and get it done in half the time! I also think that she is ready for a clutch!
Awww... she's SO pretty! Talented too. Think she's a keeper! Main thing is a willingness to learn... We all gotta start somewhere! I started on lawn tractors, moved up to the Ford 8N Jubilee raking hay, then cutting hay with the sickle bar, and then shredding cotton stalks on the Ford 6600... Then Grandpa died and I ended up doing nearly everything within a year because Dad worked full time. Keep up the good work! OL J R :)
Good plan, my wife does the cutting with her own kubota diesel tractor. I went through a set of blades early on, but it was worth it to never have to cut the grass again. ;-)
Ryan, you can use a stick under the deck start switch, to keep it up, so the deck doesn't shut down when you back up. We bought one last year, May too, 738, 4 wheel drive one. I got half of a clothes pin, tide a plastic string around the think end, tide the other end around the steering column. Use the narrow end to stick it under the switch, in as far as the notch on the pin, so it can't slip out. We have a 345 too, same stick under the switch to hold it up.
+Ryan Wegman Besides the blades it cost me both rear reflectors and both halves of the hood ( top and bottom ). But it was worth it. ( a spider scared her as she was cutting close to the grain auger )
I got a ys4500 craftsman i love it its easy to use and it's about 14 years old but still goes strong do it a few times and you will do it like it's nothing
I started driving a tractor and plowing be on at nine years old the first time I learned was drive a tractor was 5 that was a full-size tractor But she’s a quick learner
This is a garden tractor/the 5 lug bolt pattern. This thing was designed to do some work & pull a plow through the dirt & haul crap, sucks it’s a gas, you need a diesel man!
Let her practice on an old John Deere 200 series or a 60's-70's era Cub Cadet with gear drive. Much more like driving a tractor. You're spoiling her with that $12,000 X series machine lol
Man every time I watch tall grass get cut it makes me wanna mow lol. There's about 10 inches of snow on the ground right now... Wish I had a plow for my mower that would be nice.
I had to have brick behind me sitting on the seat because it would always turn off because I was so short and wouldn't have that weight thing tripped. I put a clothes peg under the pull tab for the mower so it would still go when I was reversing.
yea but the X730 is a really big one...on a farm like ours (we got maybe 5000 squaremetres we use a X155R( maybe 6500$) and its absolutly right for a farm like ours. i think they have more than 1 farm and its a good choice to buy a bigger one.
Two things......someone said she should tie back her hair, very true.....and earplugs. :-) The first time I mowed I didn't use them..2 hours straight... I couldn't hardly hear when I got done. She did an awesome job!
Jamie Procarione ok.....then have fun going def when your 40. These people are giving you legitimate advice and your taking a dump on them for it. Did you use any earplugs? No.....you didn't. Look I get that you "think" you know everything but the fact is if you did......you would have had the earplugs in. Maybe take the criticism for what it is instead of spiting your viewers for pointing out something that you obviously overlooked. Maybe a better reply would look like....."yeah I know I should but I didn't this time" Because then you at least acknowledge that you do see your own mistakes.
I like the Zero Turn mowers even more because they are easier to turn and does the job much quicker also. I can mow twice as much grass with it than this conventional lawn tractor which can't maneuver like the Zero Turns.
She is too preoccupied with her hair. She needs to put it in a pony tail and stop fixing it while she works. Long hair is also a Safety Hazard around machinery.
Im retired I have a ride on mower I mow my kids lawn But there going to uni or working So they all way seem to be to busy to getting around to mowing my lawn. But my kids do some times mow my lawn not as much as they did when they were young going to high school but now thy seem to stay away Any way This was four years ago is she still using it to day. as before That wining nose sound like it got a worn bearing
You did well--no yelling and she did better that most beginners. ''Happy Trails'' to ya !!
Thanks, my husband passed away in December and I'm heading out to the garage to start it up and mow for the first time. It was nice to watch you teach your wife. She did great! I can only hope my first time goes as well :)
Good luck !!! Mowing grass...

Bless her what a great job and not phased by you sticking the camera on her, a nice confident young lady.
That lady is a quick learner, her dexterity is awesome! Respect to you guys!
She's a fast learner
Ryan, I think you want your lawn looking better than it ever does, when you are mowing it. Jamie improves the view, and gets it done. I wonder who will do the haying next year? My best to the lovely lady. It is a joy to see you both.
Cute to see the cat take off! Thanks for doing this video. I am teaching a young adult to mow and you gave me some ideas.
Finally someone who knows not to engage blades at full power! THANK YOU!!
This video taught me how to mow with a riding lawn mower. Thank you for this video. Big thumbs up
I don't think your cats are sold on this idea!!!
they GTFO!
Crispy
You are a good teacher and she will pick it up real fast and be in a big tractor soon.
This is really cool! Just an idea if you have two lawn tractors you can do it at the same time and get it done in half the time! I also think that she is ready for a clutch!

She did really good.
Jamie Procarione Welcome.
Jamie Procarione wassup
Good plan, my wife does the cutting with her own kubota diesel tractor. I went through a set of blades early on, but it was worth it to never have to cut the grass again. ;-)
Bad ass lawn mower buddy !!
wow what a beautiful X730! we got a X155R and its a really good one, JD is building really good lawn mowers!:D
Jamie mowed well for her first time. She learns fast.
He's smart!! While she's mowing he can sit on the porch and drink beer😁
Good job, Jamie!
Tried one of those today ( but it was a Viking MT6127 ) so much fun!🤣

Nice work! I learned a few things!
Very nice mower! Has everything lol
Life on a farm...fond memories.
You are a great teacher! best of the best! A john deere! Great video my dude! Practice makes perfect! 👍👍
People need to teach anything this way they learn so much faster
Great vid Ryan! Put her in the 4020 now! :)
you might not have to mow lawn anymore, but I can guarantee you will have to replace the deck blades twice as often..
+Ryan Wegman Everyone has to start somewhere!
+Ryan Wegman Besides the blades it cost me both rear reflectors and both halves of the hood ( top and bottom ). But it was worth it. ( a spider scared her as she was cutting close to the grain auger )
+Douglas Laramie LOL
Possibly the whole lawn mower.... Hahaha kidding
+How Farms Work thats how i started on the lawnmower on a 1982 wheel horse sweeping the lawn
I got a ys4500 craftsman i love it its easy to use and it's about 14 years old but still goes strong do it a few times and you will do it like it's nothing
Great job.
That's a pretty fancy lawn mower, maybe I'm used to the smaller older ones
She's a fast learner!
Good for her she’s an early learner
Good job Jamie
I started driving a tractor and plowing be on at nine years old the first time I learned was drive a tractor was 5 that was a full-size tractor But she’s a quick learner
This is a garden tractor/the 5 lug bolt pattern. This thing was designed to do some work & pull a plow through the dirt & haul crap, sucks it’s a gas, you need a diesel man!
I'd love to live at a place like yours
ive had a few John deere tractors they are great,im getting a new one to mow with the s240,ha she did a good job learning,i thought,ha later.
Gorgeous, she can mow my lawns anytime 😜
Ryan, always run small engines, air cooled engines, at near full throttle. The fan running at full speed is what keeps the engine cool.
Thats not air cooled. The X730's are liquid cooled.
Nice job Jammie I'm 14 years old and I already have my own lawn mower
Carson Sobieski I'm 12 and I have my own lawn tractor.
Jamie I have a tip keep the left side on the the edge of the lawn
Let her practice on an old John Deere 200 series or a 60's-70's era Cub Cadet with gear drive. Much more like driving a tractor. You're spoiling her with that $12,000 X series machine lol
True.
I hope this was not a date. lol good job driving! If you are available have lots of grass to practice on.
I started mowing on a 1930 era Ford 9N
soaringtractor ok, thanks for the correction
Fast learner! That's how my Grandad taught me
shes learning fast. now she just has 2 learn how 2 do that on the go.
She got the detailed instructions how to run it
Do not lose her Ryan. She Does you good
(yoda) strong with the force she is, but much to learn, she still has
Nice mower. First class. I thought u bought one a auction
I'll stick to my 83 john deer 318. I love it!!
@How Farms Work she did a pretty good job.
That is precious
Man every time I watch tall grass get cut it makes me wanna mow lol. There's about 10 inches of snow on the ground right now... Wish I had a plow for my mower that would be nice.
You might want to latch on to her, she's a keeper.
He said he had a plan, he is going to turn her into a hard core farmer. :) Well, now she need to get paid! Don't forget that. :)
Tell her I said good job
I had to have brick behind me sitting on the seat because it would always turn off because I was so short and wouldn't have that weight thing tripped. I put a clothes peg under the pull tab for the mower so it would still go when I was reversing.
Wow. My x530 won't even come close to stalling if you engage the blades at idle.
Nice video
My first was a 110 .
How Farms Work...you get a pretty girl and she doe's all the work
what is the number 1 thing to no when you get to a new tractor
That's one sweet tractor :) Out of curiosity I googled it.... YOWZA! I was thinking $5k or so. Try almost $11k! Too rich for my blood!
yea but the X730 is a really big one...on a farm like ours (we got maybe 5000 squaremetres we use a X155R( maybe 6500$) and its absolutly right for a farm like ours. i think they have more than 1 farm and its a good choice to buy a bigger one.

Need to tell Jamie when she doing sumtin like dat she need to put her hair in a ponytail. Lmao
GOOD JOB THANKS 😃 💘
Two things......someone said she should tie back her hair, very true.....and earplugs. :-) The first time I mowed I didn't use them..2 hours straight... I couldn't hardly hear when I got done. She did an awesome job!
Jamie Procarione I can definitely understand that! ^_^
Jamie Procarione ok.....then have fun going def when your 40. These people are giving you legitimate advice and your taking a dump on them for it. Did you use any earplugs? No.....you didn't. Jane!!....Stop this crazy thing!!!! When are we going to start chopping corn?
I got my mower when I was 9 years old it is a 345 John Deere and I am 11 years old
Are u gonna rake up the clippings and round bale it??
+Joshua Anthony aha there wouldnt be anough grass being mowed for there to be worth baling.
+orkhan combe ...I wonder how many people actually thought I was being serious...??
Wouldn't want to total that mower. Brand new one starts at over 10K
Abm2014 Where tf do you live?? Lol because here they're half that new.
Get her on the 8235R
Can we meet up with are x730s I have one now
Run full throttle on air cooled engines. That's how they keep cooler.
6:27 Bet thats not the first time shes heard that.
I have the 300 series
I like the Zero Turn mowers even more because they are easier to turn and does the job much quicker also. I can mow twice as much grass with it than this conventional lawn tractor which can't maneuver like the Zero Turns.
With lawn tractors you can take off the mower part and put attachments like snow blower and plow which are controlled by the mower controlls
She is too preoccupied with her hair. She needs to put it in a pony tail and stop fixing it while she works. Long hair is also a Safety Hazard around machinery.
James Dayton and not using her hands instead of the sleve of her shirt
Im retired I have a ride on mower I mow my kids lawn But there going to uni or working So they all way seem to be to busy to getting around to mowing my lawn.
