    about to rebuild the jet pump in my 1995 spx....do you have a video for that or is this basically the same

    It looked like you used Red Loctite on the cone screws. Red is pretty strong stuff, often needs heat to break it loose.
    Use Blue for that application.

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  3 роки тому

      I have blue and green, and green is the toughest. When I purchased the cone it came with everything including the red Loctite.

    My 1995 jet ski empties oil on the outside of ski doo after running it. It also will not open up when running on lake. What could be the issue.

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  9 років тому

      +michael beck Does the engine RPM rev up, if so check the impeller to make sure it has not damaged your wear ring. I have not yet seen a sea-Doo that don't leak 2 cycle oil from the oil tank, then it runs out the drain plug onto the ground, very messy.

    • @oneeyedrone4293
      @oneeyedrone4293 4 роки тому

      First trace where the leak is coming from, pump or gas tank overflow. There is a small breather on the left side of the hull, just under the waterline seam.
      The pump will show leaks all the time if its coming from the pump.

    your videos are awesome! any pointers on how to get the bearings out? I have a 1993 sea doo and we are changing them while we have everything off. I do not have a press. It looks like there is a divider in the middle so punching it out without damaging the middle barrier would be difficult.
    Thank you for any help!

    • @LonnieJohnson1

      Move the barrier to one side at a time as you knock the bearing out.

  • @AlexLamar1

    Question for you Lonnie , Did you have to use the press to get the bearings into the stator ? Would a oversize socket , with a rubber mallet work to drive them in?
    Thanks..

    Where do you find the white part that screws into the hole on the cap? Need to test my pressure on my jet pump and not sure where to find that fitting to match the threads? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

      I used a small plastic quick connect, you should be able find one at Home Depot, Lowe's or Ace Hardware. If you have the cap off take it with you, and a piece of your hose so you get the right size. If the cap is already mounted take your plug with you.

    Very nice video.
    Question, I have the same seadoo 1995 XP. I just replace the wear ring part number 271000290. It fits perfect on the housing
    but the impeller will not fit. I was able to jammed in there but it will not turn. Do I have a wrong part? do I need to file it down to make it fit? Please help.
    Thanks

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  9 років тому

      +Fredi Chacon Thanks.
      It sounds like you have the wrong wear ring or impeller. The impeller come very close to the wear ring without touching it. I can't remember what the gap is but it's small because the impeller unit is part of the water pumping system.

    Need help pressure testing, never did it before, what pressure testing device did you use and how do you operate it to get to the 10 pounds?

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  6 років тому

      You thread it into the fill hole and pump pressure to 10 pounds. See if Autozone has one you can use, it shouldn't cost anything but a deposit and you will get that back.

    i have a question, I have the same ski. if the wear ring is worn, would that cause the motor to over heat? and how does the motor get water? is it from the vachume from the exhaust, or does the impeller pump the water to the engine? I rebuilt the top end, it only had about 90PSI so i put new piston and rings and now it reads 145PSI, i haven't broke it in yet

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  9 років тому

      jasonneal The wear ring and impeller is part of the water pumping system. If the wear ring is in bad condition it will not pump water or enough water through the system and cause it to overheat.

    Hi I have a question I have a 2001 seadoo rxdi....I was wondering before I add the oil should I grease the inner bearings with marine grease? The manual does not say to do that it says just to add the synthetic oil

    I hate to point this out, but per the seadoo shop manual the seal goes in the other way.

    • @LonnieJohnson1

      Don't confuse people, the seals can only go in one way. You better take another look at your manual. If you want to put yours in backwards go ahead but do cause others to make your mistake.

    • @LonnieJohnson1

      If you read it, it's telling and showing you where to pack grease in the seal lip after putting it on the tool. If it's on the tool backwards you can't pack it with grease. If the seal is pack with grease and installed backwards the grease does nothing on the outside of the housing. Let me know if I'm missing something.

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  7 років тому

      I would check the plug in the back and the drive shaft seal were the bearing is. You can grease the front of the drive shaft and the bearing were the boot is. The rubber boot also helps to keeps water out. Hopefully you don't have a small hole in your hull.
