Sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Eastfarthing Woods, one of the four Farthings of the Shire.
This is a screenshot from the recently released 4K remastered edition of the Fellowship of the Ring. I did a little retouching to the photo to increase its sharpness and quality. I then added some slight movement across the screen to make the photo more life like and added bird sounds that are nearly identical to those in the movie during this scene. Enjoy.

I used to watch lotr as a kid but i properly managed to sit down and do a marathon in 2020 during my school years and slo during that time i would put this song as background... A lot of memories tied to this... I remember the walks in the afternoon in the backyard of my house... The golden rays lf the setting sun, the birds chirping and the little pond that me and my brother created looking lively... Also sometimes i would call my friend as well... 4 years later I'm in another country for studies and hearing this brought all those memories back... So much happened since then... But I'm thankful for the memories... Wish i could find peace and happiness again

My friend and i loved the Lord of the Rings books. We both loved reading the books and when we both turned 12, we could watch the movies (we were 11 at the time). My birthday is on May the 15th, his May the 26th. Time flew by as we were so excited to watch the movies. When i turned 12, i got the dvd's of all the 3 films, but i made a promise to my friend we would watch them together for the first time so, i waited until his 12th birthday. As soon as we came home from school, we made popcorn and watched them all in one sitting. It was an absolute joy to watch them. We both loved gaming so when we heard that there would be coming a LEGO Lord of the Rings game, we "jumped holes in the ceiling" my mom said. We waited for what seemed like YEARS for the game to release. And when the time had finally come, we rushed to the store and bought 1 disc. As soon as we got home we put in my xBox 360 and played it every, single, day. Make homework as soon as you come home frome school? No, play LEGO Lord of the Rings. We completed it in like 2 - 3 weeks. We knew there was an upcoming move from The Hobbit. We also loved reading the books of The Hobbit so when we heard that, we couldn't be more excited. The movie got released 2 or 3 weeks after we completed playing LEGO Lord of the Rings so we didn't have to wait long. Again, we rushed home after school to watch the new movie (our moms had gotten the movies for us). We loved it. We pulled an all-nighter. Around the time when the 2nd The Hobbit movie got released, my friend got sick. We first thought it was just a simple cold so we ignored it. But he didn't got any better so, he went to the doctor and it turned out he got Stage 3 cancer. We of course were in absolute shock. In a short period of time, it got worse and worse and he had to go to the hospital. He couldn't do much except lay in bed (this was around Christmas). The 2nd Hobbit movie had just released but this time, it didn't feel good. We couldn't pull an all-nighter and watch it as we did with the previous ones. As Christmas gift, i have him the 2nd Hobbit movie. We both were so excited to watch it together, even though it had to be different this time (i hadn't seen it yet). We had such joy watching it in the hospital. A few months had passed and things still wouldn't get better. Around our birthdays, things even got so bad he had to move to an other hospital. Things went a little better, but again around November things got really really bad. He sadly passed away, a few weeks before the 3rd movie got released. I couldn't stop crying for weeks. It felt so bad to watch the movie without him. When LEGO The Hobbit came out, i played it on the exact same place as we used to play together. The soundtracks, the books, the movies, the games, it all reminds me of him. Especially the soundtracks. Every year around our birthdays and christmas, i listen to this to feel more connected again.
(And Matthew, if you see this, i collected all the coins as you always wanted me to do)

I’m as big of a Tolkien nerd as they come and I’ve using this video very often for about a year, but today I just had to comment. This year I moved very far from my home and my family for work and I’ve been struggling w some substance abuse. Today I was having a really hard morning (just a bunch of things seemed to be going wrong), so I decided to hop onto UA-cam for a little bit to clear my head. When I saw this video pop up on my homepage again, as it does so frequently, I put it in on in the background and got back to my work. The sounds of middle earth just have this unbelievable ability to transport me somewhere that feels just like home and make all my problem seem so insignificant. “The road goes ever on and on!” Have a wonderful day everyone.

I can't begin to describe how brilliant J.R.R. Tolkien and Peter Jackson are that they managed to create together, spread years apart from each other, a world and story with characters that after all these years are still close to my heart so that whenever the path in life seems unclear, I can find consolation in the fiction that they created. Just looking at Frodo in this picture makes my heart glow with joy.

Ok, so as a total nerd, I adore the extended editions. But at the risk of angering everyone on the planet, I perfer the theatrical editions as movies, and a big part of that comes down to the placement of this shot of Frodo reading. In the theatrical version, there's this dark, dreadful backstory, and Galadriel ends ominously, saying, "For the time will soon come when hobbits will shape the fortunes of all." She's just placed this huge weight on a group of people we know nothing about from this introduction. And then it fades to this shot of Frodo. It's such a beautiful contrast between the epic, dark prologue and the simple, quiet way of the hobbits.

    • @pho3nix-

I would agree that the editing could have been better. But there are many scenes that are only in the extended editions that are just... beautiful. Or horrifying (*cough* *cough* Mouth of Sauron...)

There's a feeling that only this moment in time, reading a 1995 edition paper back LOTR with green fields, raining Gandalf has. Howard shore and Peter Jackson in combination with Tolkien has created a fantasy that we all share, an understanding of a loss for something that never existed shared. Wonderful and haunting. Whilst we are all here a fleeting moment we share this with generations to come.

These films, these books and this story have had such an enormous impact on my life.
Was first introduced to them when I was around 7, walking with my grandparents and dad at dusk in the woods of a park when my grandma said the trees reminded her of ents. I asked what she meant and her and my dad (who is also a big lotr fan) began telling me about lotr. Me and my dad borrowed the dvds from my grandparents and watched all three and I became obsessed. I got as many toys and figures if the characters and locations as I could, bought toy swords resembling sting, would buy and play all lotr games on ps2 and Xbox 360, would show all my school friends lotr, once begged my mum to buy me a ring on a chain just because I wanted to feel like Frodo lol, would rewatch the films over and over, watched the Bashki version on dvd and took it into school and the whole class watched it, whilst my dad would drive we’d listen to the 1981 bbc radio adaption, I once dressed up as Frodo for world book day at school. Safe to say I was completely obsessed.
Then As a teen, I read the books and really enjoyed them. When I’d go to my dads caravan in the countryside, I would lay alone on a night in my room in the dark in the early hours and watch the behind the scenes over and over, felt like being taken to another world for a few hours and was a great escape.
I’m 19 now and still love the story. These films, this score, these books and this story will always hold a special solace in my heart. I showed my gf the films but she isn’t as in to them lol.
The song I want played at my funeral actually is into the west and use many of the quotes as words to live by in my life “so do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide, all we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to us”

I became a film animator when, at around age 19, I saw Toy Story for the first time, and immediately wanted to become an animator.
It took me 20 years of hard work to finally work in Hollywood animation. But it was inevitable, because I had such a fire in my stomach to be involved.
I can see that you also have the same fire, and I think you could do something great with it if you focus on hitting a target..

1:02 This very small piece of music gives me an indescribable feeling of nostalgia and joy. The flute combined with the chilling bass symbolizes for me not only the Shire, but the entire trilogy. One of the best ever made.

at 11 minutes all I hear, while the music fades to the background, is Gandalf's voice saying: It's time....Frodo....and we get taken by a bird's eye view up the sea where a grey rain curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then, a far green country, under a swift sunrise. Valinor awaits....
Thank you PJ, for making the books come alive right in front of me and not just in my mind. A gift I will never be able to repay you.

Thanks to Bilbo's role as an amateurish historian for his Red Book of Westmarch (thus preserving the Great Eldar Tales). He gave Frodo a total of 5 books in all. I do believe the Middle Earth exists. My favorite places are Tower of Elostirion, Ithilien and Gondor. Hail Lord Aragon Telecontar. I love you all so much.

Many ages ago, when this ancient planet was not quite so ancient, long before man recorded his history, there was the time of Middle-earth, where men shared his days with elves, dwarves, wizards, goblins, dragons and hobbits. In the lands of Middle-earth, in an area known as the Shire, there was a village named Hobbiton. There, in a hole in the ground, lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, nor a dry, bare, sandy hole. It was a hobbit-hole, and that means *...comfort.*

I can't think of any other film (set of films) or soundtrack that stirs the heart and emotions like LOTR, is a testament to the genius of J.R.R. Tolkien and the pure love for it by Peter Jackie and Howard Shore to create the timeless masterpiece. It's the gaelic/celtic lilt of much of the music , heavenly choirs and strings/fiddles/pipes that really hit home as feels like this music has come from a past we once knew, even though our past did not have elves/trolls/dwarfs (or did it?? does it still ??) :0
