Tiger Electronics POWER RANGERS Handheld Video Game | Can I FIX it? | UNEDITED - Watch in REAL time!

- I purchased this Tiger Electronics Mighty Morphin Power Rangers handheld video game from eBay for £7. It was described as ‘not working/no power’ When I put some batteries into the game, I found that this wasn’t entirely true. It turned out to be a pretty simple repair and rather than edit the video down to a few minutes, I thought it might be interesting to upload the entire video unedited. This way, you can see the exact process I took with this particular game and how long I actually spent working on it.
Let me know in the comments if you like this format of unedited video for shorter repairs. It won’t work for everything as many of my restorations have taken days to complete but if viewers enjoy the style, I can use it for the quicker fixes that might otherwise have not made it onto the channel.
I said in the video that this was made in 1988 but a viewer has pointed out that the Power Rangers show that this was based on wasn’t actually published until 1993 so that can’t be right. I took the 1988 date from the trademark notice on the rear of the game but it would appear that the game is slightly newer and was probably produced in the mid 1990s. Apologies for this minor error!

Some viewers have told me that they would be interested in watching more of the ‘detail’ of some of my repairs. Therefore, when I opened up this little game and realised it was going to be a quick and easy fix, I decided to upload the unedited footage so that you can see exactly what I did in real time. I’m not sure if this will appeal to people or not so it’s a bit of an experiment! Please do let me know if you like this raw format or not - I’m happy to do more if enough people enjoy it. 👍
I love that electric driver tool! Got a product link for it?
It’s a great little screwdriver - it hasn’t got the muscle for larger screws but for small things such as this game or mobile phones/small PCBs etc it’s ideal. Plus the absolutely pointless screen is superb! 😂 I got it from Amazon - this should get you there: amzn.to/4hb5h3f Thanks for watching!
@@DistinctlyAverageRepairs I'll give it a look. I only really take apart small electronic stuff and toys, for scrounging interesting parts for sci-fi models. It just seems so convenient, when regular DIY screwdrivers are too big, or don't have the weird non-tamper bits that some electronic stuff now uses.
I find it very handy for the smaller stuff and the battery lasts well between charges too. It comes with loads of bits - the case that you see in this video is double-sided so there is the same number of bits on the underside. There’s also a handy pry tool clipped to the side. 👍
Great video, you just get on with the repair. No silly ‘ch ch ch’ noises or trying to sing like a reject from britains got talent or trying to be a failed comedian like most idiots who do that here on UA-cam. Keep up the good work. I have subscribed and liked.
A fun watch, I think I prefer an edited style video but I appreciate that you still did some camera edits to keep it interesting! As an idea maybe you could do a secondary channel eventually where you could drop more long play uncut versions of your videos for peoples who want to see or reference a complete unedited process for diy and stuff :)
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it. Yes, I prefer the edited style too and this is where I will concentrate my efforts, maybe with the occasional unedited short fix thrown in now and then. I do like the idea of a second channel but I think I am some way away from that at the moment.- let’s get this channel to 100k subscribers first! 🤞😀
This was a very elaborate and detailed fix. I can see you put a lot of effort and skill into repairing this little vintage gem. I hope you will show us more in the future.
Ah, Tiger electronics. The "We have game boy at home" of hand-held gaming 😍
Interesting that you show the whole process. I know very well that if you have a little "harder" fix, the video can get very long if you don't get the cleaver out. I've struggled with that for a bit until the video I'm producing now.
I made a second channel for long-form content and that help me with cutting down the video for my main channel and not feel that I'm loosing something.
For sure unedited format for quick fixes for me :)
Great video, great fix and as always, looking forward to your next adventure!
Thank you - yes, I thought I would give it a try and see. To be honest, if I had edited this video down like I normally do, it would have only been a few minutes long and at that point, I start to wonder if it’s even worth posting. My thinking was that maybe this unedited format would work for the quick fixes that wouldn’t normally have made it onto the channel at all? I do prefer the more involved fixes and more detailed restoration type work but they can take days/weeks so if this is a way of getting a few videos out faster and in between the bigger projects then why not? Thanks for the support as always 👌
@@DistinctlyAverageRepairs I totally think you should mix it up a bit. Just for your mental health sake to not stress about "oh, I havent posted in weeks and i still need to do x, y and z with this thing". Also, sometimes it's just as interesting seeing an easy, straight forward fix as an, oh let's say buzz lightyear total restoration :)
You’re absolutely right and I guess this is why a lot of the larger restoration/repair channels sometimes have gaps of months between uploads. It helps once you realise that no one is sitting there getting cross because you haven’t uploaded for a few weeks 😂 Buzz Lightyear seemed to go on forever, I was really pleased to get that one finished! 😂
@@DistinctlyAverageRepairs Exactly.
Yes it did, but man was it worth it. Still haven't gotten over that you had so much patience for it! :D
Buzz now stands on my desk reminding me how much work he caused me! 😂
Great video. I prefer the edited ones but this was interesting to watch.
Thank you. I do prefer making the edited videos so these will be my main focus but I’ll probably drop the odd unedited video in now and then just to mix it up a bit 😀👍
Oh, sh¡t, dude! I had this thing as a little kid! Hell, I still have it and it still works!
Ah yes the Power Rangers game from 1988 based on a show that didn’t happen until 1993
Oh really? 😂 I stand corrected then! I took the date from the trademark notice on the rear of the game so an honest mistake. Unfortunately, I can’t change the video without re-uploading it and that would take hours so I’m afraid it will have to be wrong forever! I’ll make a note in the description. Thanks for pointing it out 👍
My mom gave me this game the night I fell down a flight of stairs and cut my leg real bad and had to go to the hospital. I was 6. Hot dog
Cool - did you try falling down the stairs again the next week to see if you got another treat?! 😂👍
Ah yes, LCD Games.
I think I'd prefer a more edited version, but that's just me.
"Stupid game"
Thank you - I agree and prefer to edit the footage into something a bit more watchable/faster paced. As I say though, a few people have indicated that they would watch something more raw so let’s see. Either way, the majority of videos I make will be edited because that’s what I prefer to do but, if it is worthwhile, I may throw in the odd unedited one now and again. Thanks for watching…👍
Very fumbly
Thanks, that’s what I was aiming for 👍😂
