  • It's all in the title this time. It's not all that difficult to make a decent looking and functional Kuksa, even for someone like me. You just need to love the relaxation that comes with wood carving.
I have included tips along the way, so be sure to follow along if you are interested.
If it is difficult to hear, I apologize. I am using only the built in microphone on my phone, and it evidently doesn't pick up voices that well, unless of course it's someone yelling in the background, in which case it picks up everything. ;-)
The gear I use is listed below for anyone who might be curious. I get no kickbacks, nor do I profit in any way by publicizing these links. I just do it for all of you.
As always, thank you for watching, and please do subscribe.
    Sincerely,
    William

Absolutely terrific. Now I have a project that will very soon be occupying my time in the woods. I first have to acquire a curved knife. Will let you know of my progress😊 So you are an English teacher. I was an educator for twenty-six years - at an independent high school in NYC. Taught Writing and a Great Books course for a third of those years, then became the Dean (though I continued teaching one course just to stay connected😊). I actually left six years before my retirement age to pursue my dream of walking the length and breadth of my country (Guyana) - truly a life-changing adventure. Anyway…thanks much for sharing your experience to the benefit of so many. I am certainly a beneficiary. Blessings, brother🙏🏾

Thanks so much Ric. It's a bit time consuming, making a kuksa, but the joy is in the journey, just like your trip across your country. Enjoy the moment. Hats off to you for your accomplishments, good sir.

Re: Microwaving - please share wattage of your microwave oven. I take it that the 80 seconds in the microwave is at high power. Please confirm.
    Thank you.

I'm not sure of the wattage, but yes, on high. You can try various times. You want the wood to get very warm but not actually burn on the inside, so go in increments from maybe 45 seconds to 90, but not more. It also depends on the thickness and density of the wood, and how much moisture is inside. Better to under heat than over heat.

Could be. I'll take a listen later today.

So I listened to the entire thing, and while at times there is some background noise, overall, it's clear sound and understandable. Sorry if it wasn't for you.
