    This is how I carry my babies in the US. I never had the baby carrier because I felt more comfortable carrying my baby on my back with my wrapper. Beautiful memories!

    I don't blame you for your decision. I had my daughter in Itay. Although they have first-world healthcare, they do things differently and some parts were hellish.

    The Gambia is a beautiful country to raise kids ❤
    I am interested to know how you see your kids futures there, it was lovely to see your daughter has a job at King's bakery (I go there often)
    How are you finding life back in the States, the culture shock must be huge.
    Good luck with the birth ❤

    Just some points of reflection. It seems that many of us as humans seem to be running away from something/some of us have a grass is always greener on the other side of the fence mentality. For example, some are leaving the US to go back to The Gambia and you have many young Gambians who are literally dying to get ot the US/Europe. Also, mentioning the young men/boys sitting around, many of them are sitting because they have no employment/nothing to do and many of them are trying to get to Europe/America. Also as far as the Gambian police go, I’m not sure I’d describe them as good/non-threatening. Talk to Gambians who say for example don’t agree with their government. Also, even if I were in The Gambia I am still not sure I’d let the kids play unsupervised. Sex tourism is real, and it seems The Gambia is known for it. I’ve seen videos where older European men are walking around with young-ish children. If we are looking for a utopia in this world, we’re not going to find it. The health-care system in The Gambia is one huge reason I’d not relocate. Both for me as a woman, and for my kids. Also, if you or anyone in your family are disabled, there are some real hurdles/challenges. It seems to me that I’d be trading one set of problems/issues for another set of problems/issues, and I’m not sure if the trade-off is worth it. I am also watching a series of videos on a page called KekeLuvsNigeria and she has a whole series on things the repats won’t tell you about the Gambia, and let me tell you, it definitely brought my head down out of the clouds really fast. I think personally, the most I’d do is maybe live their part time. But I don’t think I could completely disconnect from the US. Especially if what is being shown on UA-cam isn’t quite the real picture. I’d have to go there at least once, on my own to check things out. But for me the health of most my children, but myself too is a huge reason for not relocating.

    Assalamu alakium, sister I think it depends on where you live. I am black, and have lived in the USA my entire life. My parents and siblings also have lived in the US their entire life and we have never experienced the things you describe. I know some of the things you mentioned does happen, but they normally occur in bad / low income neighborhoods.

    • @summersinafrica
      @summersinafrica  11 місяців тому +5

      Walaykumsalam warahmatullah Sister, Alhamdulilah that's wonderful that you haven't experienced any of it, I hope you never do. I've never lived in bad/ low income neighborhoods, by the way. Racism and police brutality does not depend on where you live in America. I have to disagree with that. Jazakallahukhair, for your comment sis.

    • @khadijahx4223
      @khadijahx4223 11 місяців тому

      @@summersinafrica i always thought it depended on the neighborhood but maybe it depends on the state you live in also, because I noticed some people say they experience these things and others have never. Either way I am happy that you and your family are thriving in Gambia. May Allah grant you an easy labor/delivery. Ameen.

      The WORST Form of Violence is that which is NOT Physical - MAIN STREAM MEDIA PROPAGANDA that continually _desensitizes_ from a very young age THAT which is clearly and utterly wrong and Vile. Immorality is the common NORM. Think about it!

    Hi, is it hard finding a doctor & insurance being that you are 9 months pregnant? Can you please share your experience so far?

    • @summersinafrica
      @summersinafrica  11 місяців тому +3

      Hey there, I've been very blessed that the last practice I delivered my baby at accepted me back as a patient, although I'm in my 9th month now. I just had my first appointment in the US this morning actually.
      The clinic wanted their own set of labs, ultrasound pics etc, so I had to do a glucose tolerance test and all the other prenatal labs at my appointment today. They're scheduling me for an ultrasound next week and have already scheduled out the rest of my appointments for the remaining of the pregnancy.
      It can be VERY difficult finding an OBGYN practice that will accept a patient this late in pregnancy, but it definitely helped that they delivered my last baby, prior to my move to Gambia. I'm super grateful about that, because this clinic was my first choice.

      Thankyou for your detailed response, I was wondering because I had a similar experience going back to the states from a country in Africa to give birth & 20 weeks , It was really hard to find a doctor. They always prefer being with someone from the start of their pregnancy. So I was curious how you were able to get a docter at 9 months. Thanks again. May Allah bless you with a safe delivery and baby 🤲🏼
