I first joined the fandom when NTLTC came out at the start of 2018 and I was told by countless videos that she strained above B4 and since I had never done any research on technique before, I just assumed it was true even though I couldn't hear any strain and I couldn't tell the difference and I only thought it was a hearing thing, which it wasn't. I wanted to comment, but I saw other comments that said what I was thinking and they just got slammed on so I just kept quiet. But now I'm so glad you're making this so we can fully understand her true range and technique 😊

Anyway even if you don't consider her G#5's totally free thay are far from being strained as well. They are well projected and don't have much unnecessary tension or an unnaturally high larynx. Imo it doesn't really matter whether you wanna label them as supported or not but they are great!

DJ Nope grounded does not mean support 😂😂😂😂. Grounded means A Note with Core to it and Free means a note that is free of unnecessary tension and strain but without a lot of core
I definitely hear support up to C5 and resonance up to B4. I don’t know why people said she only supported up to Bb4. But a lot of upper belts (G5^) aren’t what I considered free because she peaks the notes and they have an unnatural high larynx (compare those G#5s to the ones she does now which are miles better), and some of them are on the verge of cracking which is leading to some of the pitchiness in unstable vibrato. The best G# were the ones in Be My Baby. And also her head voice isn’t supported in these clips because some of them are falsetto and also back then her head voice was disconnected. But this was a good video. You’re amazing at finding clips😂.
GrandeFlamesButera not all of them are head voice though. About 85% of them are though. The ones that are head voice though are unsupported. But I could be wrong. It’s hard to get a clear sound because the sounds distorted because it’s a fan cam and she sings real close to the mic + there’s reverb so we’ll never get to hear like a true authentic representation of the sound.

GrandeFlamesButera Yeah no the G#5s are unnaturally raised to me and have a lot of tension. She’s pushing them out. The Bb5s are better executed than many of the G#5s. Like when I hear these G# compared to the ones she did on the SWT, I hear a major improvement.
