the most subtle face reveal ever
LOL I was thinking the same
On God
And voice reval
I agree with that sentiment. I always just say “I play guitar” not that I’m a guitarist
Same bro coz when I say I'm a guitarist I always feel like I'm showing off or if I label myself a guitarist people would be expecting me to be able to play shit I havent even heard off lol
gonna just take pride in the fact that i've always known how beautiful oliver is.
day 1 homie, thank you haha
The comments and the video is the most wholesome ive seen on youtube for a long time. Everyone here is so nice and giving actually nice comments and their own thought about it idk i know this is not related to the video at all but you should make more vids like thiss 😆👌🏻
I've always been in awe of your guitar playability, my firs lofi cover exists thanks to you! it's inspiring to see your high standards, theory definitely is a must have skill set and it's not that hard, just requires practice and dedication. Keep doing you!
You got this bro! Keep going. I’ll support you all the way
I totally relate to this sentiment! But you 100% have what's at the core of being a musician and that is your dedication to your music and how you help others through it, which I think is the most important (':
I know exactly how you feel bro. I've been playing & teaching for many years but wouldn't class myself as a "proper musician". Even though I do understand music theory and the general mechanics of how it all works, when I see "real musicians" play, I realise that they are in a totally different league!
Not only that, real musicians seem to be a completely different breed, almost as though they have a specific gene that enables them to become who they are (hunger games), and subsequently disqualifies others from achieving the same status. I say this not in a pessimistic or fatalistic way, but with a humble appreciation for what it really means to be a true musician, and how much skill/talent/work it takes to even get close.
Great content as always! ...keep doing what you're doing ✌️
Definitely relate to that! Thanks Dean
I'm very thankful to have clicked into one of your videos and now I really just go to YT for the purpose of learning more songs from you. I easily give up when I see that it's complicated but thanks to your videos, I've played more songs and become a little bit more confident as I build up more skills from you. There are a lot of us who cannot necessarily read scores and notes on a music sheet and that does not mean we're a little less than them. As long as we take joy in playing music in any wayㅡ that's the freedom of how we express music!
:O new content! i love your message in this video. super relatable because i was never really formally trained in music but i still have a passion for it. keep it up!
Love these kinds of videos!
This is really dope! Keep it up! I love your tutorials it’s really helpful 🥰
Been looking for someone whom I can really look up to and relate. Glad to have stumbled upon your channel, Oliver! Cheers to more tutorial vids and tips & tricks. Short and Simple. Salute!
Either way brodie, you inspire so many of us! Cheers!
damn this video was wholesome but also eye opening. And fr we wouldn’t mind more vlogs, also I’m forever in debt to you for teaching me the songs I’ve always played on air guitar lmaoo
I can relate so much to what you're talking about, but the fact that you have frustration to be better at is a sure sign that you have a right to be a guitarist/musician. Keep up the good work with the guitar vids, been lovin' it so far.
I get you Oliver, I was playing a chord progression after watching your videos, and I couldn't help but feel a bit empty with guitar. I feel like there's such a bridge between playing for yourself, respecting the composition and a whole different mindset with performing for a crowd. You're truly inspiring man, keep going!
This has made me realize how much i need to learn:( its good advice and some really nice thoughts, makes me wanna try harder at being a “musician” / guitarist....thank you very much, i love the way you play and the tabs you choose for us to learn
We love you Oliver ❤️
Woah nice one Oliver
I'm in the same exact place as you man. I've been playing for 7 years and just improved technically but dont know any theory on the guitar whatsoever. Playing trumpet in college helps, but it isnt the same. I appreciate the work you do for the channel though. Learn every song you put out, try to anyway. Like the new video too.
Really appreciate your work, keep safe
What a stunning video
Would like to see more videos like this totally a poggers moment
I dont really call myself as a musician for the same reason. And i've only taken my guitar playing seriously two years ago, same time i found your videos. You could say i'm a 'good guitar player' now but not really when i forced my way to memorizing patterns instead of actually studying them. So it feels nice to relate to someone in that level especially someone i've been watching for some time now. Hope you keep it all up
When I watch your videos bro u inspire me to play my guitar
This is great
keep it up oli!!!
this video was sick
As someone who has been brute forcing my way with the guitar as well, AND as someone who only ever returned to it because of the quarantine, this has honestly humbled me in a way I cant fully describe. It's refreshing and motivating. Keep up the great work Oliver!
really appreciate that! here's to brute forcing haha
You are the best!
i just bought martin miller's improv course for theory, but i'm using your tabs for fun! slowly navigating my way, with your help
Oh hey Oliver. You're awesome!!!
oh shoot it's Loren from the video!
oh man, there are some really easy starting points for getting into the theory that you can start with. like, learning what keys are and what keys you're actually playing in. haha i started trying to type out how to read scales and keys and whatever but this IS youtube, and there are much better people at explaining it in video form.
it's exciting stuff though, once it clicks that the chords you're playing in each song actually have to make sense harmonically, it opens a lot more for you. Like... why do all pop songs sound the same? because they're playing the same chords: I-IV-V-vi
Then you'll maybe one day realize that honesty by pink sweat is so frustrating because the progression never ends, its constantly left hanging when it NEEDS to resolve to AMaj7
Thank YOU, Oliver. Ever since I’ve started playing guitar, I’ve followed your tutorials. I’ve learned a TON of songs because of you and I really appreciate the work you put into making these videos!!!
Man, he can really be the new Let'sPlayGuitar
🥶🥶🥶
nice man
Ur a king 🙈
I'm surprised you don't have any formal training. Much props for developing your technique from total scratch. Its always harder to start with nothing than with something.
From my AP music theory teacher: "Theory isn't the building blocks to music. It never has been. The only purpose of music theory is to explain and understand why we love this chord or this progression or even a super specific section of a movement. Learning music theory doesn't increase your capacity of musicality or valid you as a certified musician."
Though I always suggest watching the endless amounts masterclasses and music theory videos and then get a teacher to have helpful criticism, it's not a big deal to just play for the sake of playing even if you don't have the formal/informal training.
Wah
Humbling, but don’t get music twisted here. “It has nothing to do with theoretical knowledge.” I thought this way, then spent the next 10 years learning music theory. (Names, chords, scales, all the modes….) Although some of it was very useful, my progress actually too a backslide and then I finally realised why. I was learning stuff that I would never use and the theoretical stuff I did use wasn’t needed after all.
You don’t need to know ANY “theoretical academic stuff” to be a true professional musician. (Unless you want to be a conventional music teacher)
whats the backround music
Is it alright to have a crush on you?🙈🙈
