- Our relationship with Kate started out as a prize winner who was visited in the hospital by Kim, the Afternoon host. As Kim stayed in contact with Kate, we found out that not only is she a big Matt Maher fan, but she said his newest song, Alive and Breathing is her anthem as she walks through the battle with cancer. This is that story.

I love Matt Maher. His song Your Love Defends Me is my anthem. I listened to that song probably a thousand times the year I got into an accident. It ALWAYS strengthens me.
This video always touches my heart😢 God uses any vessel to change someone life. He knew when is the right time, for this song to bring new hope into someone life. Its the message in this song that brings new assurance. God is faithful, He will never abandon us. Diagnosed with colorectal cancer on Christmas eve 2019, the battle is the lords. I love this song and Matt's heart. Stay strong in the lord all who have cancer God knows we are strong soldiers for him.

I was listening to this show live as it happened...I teared up! When I first heard this song, I knew instantly it was going to be one of those special songs I'd listen to at least a 1000 times in a row...and I have! Although not Cancer, I've suffered greatly over the past 17 years due to Mefloquine poisoning...a mandatory malaria drug we had to take once a week while deployed to Afghanistan. This synthetic drug developed by the US Army now has a Black Box Warning. I went from an extremely active 47 year old in superb physical shape, to a pain riddled shell. I was misdiagnosed with SLE (LUPUS) and placed on 50 mg of Prednisone a day, for a year. After a second opinion, I was informed I DID NOT have Lupus! The Mefloquine had destroyed much of my cartilage...I've lost a hip and both knees. Osteoarthritis has taken over my joints...physical pain is my constant companion! The war on opioids has made the situation much graver than it should be. My hope is in God Almighty and in the Life to come! I'm now a Matt Maher fan...ALIVE and Breathing puts life in perspective! Matt's song "Run to the Father" is what we all must do, when the weather of...life brings unbearable PAIN! Praying for all who have cancer/serious medical issues!
