- After the last BEATING we delivered to the kitties I figured I would give them I don't know.. A singular day off? Catfish are definitely my favorite fish to target through the ice, but crappies, mainly BIG CRAPPIES, are definitely a good change of pace.. Bad news though, I forgot my reindeer hat. PAAA SADDDD!!!

I'd have ate all those bluegills.. those where fat ones! We have a local lake we go for crappie in winter at and half the time end up catching bass instead. we use live minnows. Last time we got a mix of bass, crappie and catfish on live minnows. made for a nice diverse fish fry!
Those average size crappie sure look like delicious fish tacos to me. I agree with not keeping the giants when you catch them but weeding out the average ones will help the giants get even bigger. Especially if they are overpopulated in the pond.
fyi stachestain. You ain't got to worry about that selective harvest with crappie. In fact with our lake we encourage everyone to take out the monsters bc they have the most eggs. Crappie can take over a lake quick. In our 440 acre lake we harvest 5000 lbs of crappie a year only in tournaments. They grow and make babies better than anything. I get you have a public yt channel and don't want any negative vibes towards you so you keep doing what works. Congrats on a great 2022 and good luck to an awesome 2023.

Have to say, living in TX I'm not really an ice fishing kinda dude... to be honest it sounds kinda boring lol! But what keeps me interested and coming back to your ice fishing videos is that Panty-Optics split screen. And stuff and things, pa-pow! 👊😜

Gotta love when it's drop and grab doesn't matter what species. If you can catch pretty much every drop. Always fun to fish like that.

Talking about your plastics only approach. I typically start with both a plastic and a waxie. You can get a good indication on what they are liking better on a given day. Once I get that figured out I then isolate down to either one. Each day is definitely different so I do like being flexible to the approach each day.
How is there that much ice in Nebraski when it's been 40 plus in Michigan for weeks. At least I can watch the fun you guys are having. Keep em coming!
Here in Iowa we have 14” to 17” of ice been driving on it for a mouth

Crappie actually grow super slow after 8 inches... I know there's a chart out there somewhere but I think it's something like 15 years to get 15in

The powerbait whipworm is my favorite plastic for ice fishing. Also don’t be scared to go big. The 2.8 keitech is a killer. Sounds dumb but it works lol

You should of fished this lake 4 years ago..... crappies averaged 14" plus.. Then people got greedy and took to many.. Many anglers never pay it forward and put some back. FRUSTRATING!! We fish this lake once a year hoping the biguns come back..... Maybe someday

Nothing tastier then Gills thru the ice IMO. Sweet flavor.
Especially if you’re catching more than usual for that spot may as well eat some of em maybe it’ll get crappie numbers higher there

So u really need a live scope for that small pond. The farm pond I fish I don’t bring my live scope bc it so easy to catch 14 to 16” crappie and 10” gills all day
