Somewhat random question, but I am looking into purchasing a higher end board and was curious to know should I go belt drive or gear drive if they're similarly priced. Ive never used AT tires before and do you think they're good even for city use/street use despite potential loss of range etc..? I plan to be riding around Atlanta etc.
It really depends on the type of riding you are doing. I have both AT tires, Cloud wheels, and regular skateboard wheels. It's all personal preference. Range is affected but it's not that big of a difference in range. Belts versus Gear drives.... that is also personal preference. There is less maintenance with Gear drives and less risk of failure due to a belt breaking. I would say get both belt and gear drives on different model boards. This way you have both and you can experience both setups. Life is short. Live it while you can!!!
