Thank you for another great video. I have few topics that I would love to hear your thoughts about. 1. Could you make a video about working with leadsheets and what is your approach in teaching students to work with them. 2. On what stage of learning starting the duets would be good and what resources do you recommend for them. I've seen Masterwork Classics has the duet edition also and I'm curious if you ever worked with them or do you have other recommendations.
Thanks for your comment! I do have a video about teaching lead sheets. It’s specifically related to holiday music, but my thoughts here apply to any lead sheet. ua-cam.com/video/GQJDcSID3Dk/v-deo.html
Regarding duets: I start duets from the very beginning with teacher-student duets and then the easiest equal-level duets for elementary students. I have not used the MC duets because they have some overlap with books I already own. If you use them, let me know what you think!
Thank you for sharing! I'm also a piano teacher in Chicagoland. Another question... How do you motivate a student who doesn't seem to like piano lessons but the parents make them practice/ take lessons?
Hello Heather - I answered your question in the Ask Me Anything video that I posted today. I hope it gives you some food for thought! ua-cam.com/video/7_sMHXNxB4o/v-deo.html
Hello Jaya - I don't usually use Hanon. However, the Fabers have some excellent videos on this. Here's one example: ua-cam.com/video/lh1s5l4Cnhw/v-deo.html

OMG, I'm reading "Atomic Habits" right now, an impulse purchase from Amazon.

Miss Williamson, do you give lessons online?
At this point, I am not accepting new students. I do offer teacher consultation services for other piano teachers. jannawilliamson.com/consult
