    i am handling with ssl aaaaalll the time. I had some of the must frustrating days of my life trying to get my green checkmark for my filemaker application. in the end I had to setup my own dns server to route external traffic to a specific computer in my network. I totally get what ssl ist all about but now again I have nameserver/dns/ip/url whatever issues trying to setup secure ftp for synology drive

    So in this case a digital certificate instead of a pre-shared key is used for authenication, right?

    • @Sematext
      @Sematext  Рік тому

      Hm, not sure if this question makes sense. In this video we cover SSL/TLS in the context encryption of data exchanged between a web browser and a server.

    • @vatsakikalliopi9515
      @vatsakikalliopi9515 Рік тому

      @Sematext I am referring to digital SSL certificate. Since an SSL certificate contains a server's domain name, certificate authority and public key, it seems to be used for authentication before the encryption is started.
      Congratulations, by the way!

    nice video ! but may I ask you this :If I used a software and it somehow planted ssl certificate inside my PC, is it possible that I delete the ssl certificate just simplely by uninstalling the software from my PC? waiting for your answer bro, you're professional

      @CadaverCo 2 місяці тому

      (On windows) if you go into MMC you can view what certs are trusted by your local machine. Most web browsers also have a list of what CA's they trust. Simply uninstalling any malware that may have planted malicious certificates on your machine will not remove the trusted certificates, you'll have to go in and do that manually.

    You should use SSL (TLS) all the time. Without it you run the risk of someone adding their own files, images, or whatever they want to send to your site without your knowledge. If you don't use it you might get google saying that your site has a virus or (worst) some law enforcement entity wanting to charge you with kitty porn.
