Get started with Calligraphy Flourishing

Many people think that flourishing is complicated and difficult. It’s not at all! All you need is a pencil, an eraser and papers with guidelines.
Start by scripting as usual - this can be in any scripts, Copperplate or Modern Calligraphy.
Then, look for letters that can be ‘extended’. The easiest is to look for letters with ascenders and descenders, for example b, d, g, j. However, you can also be creative with letters without ascenders and descenders, for example in the video you will notice I extended r downward.
Start making ovals and loops. If you’re not happy, keep erasing and experimenting.
Once you’re happy, go over the pencil lines with your nib and ink. Once ink is dry, time to erase!
