How about MIDI triggered reverb side-chaining? Because you get really clean triggers and can be more creative by manually drawing the side-chain curve creating cool reverb effects. In FL Studio I use the Fruity Envelope Controller to do this, and I am sure other DAWs got similar tools to achieve this.

That’s deffo a possibility too! However, then you probably cannot use the same melody as you’ll need to make all notes super short
