Great video! How did you establish the cordons for this setup? I'm in a cold climate too and toying with the double root system you have. I just can't tell if you bent the cane to establish the lateral or if you cut the canes and had them establish the laterals on the bottom. Thanks!
Jeffrey, When establishing the cordons, we originally bent the growing shoots onto the wire. We did not cut the shoots and wait for laterals to push, although that is something some growers do. You can try it either way to see what you like. I have reasons for using the bending method that take awhile to explain, but you can call me at 320 333 0115 if you want to discuss more. Take care, John
Wouldn’t it be easier to just drop the catch wires before you prune and then raise them as the shoots grow and the season progreses? (after fruit set, beginning of lag phase)
That was a great video - direct to the point and knowledgeable. - Thanks
Thank you for demonstrating and explaining the significance of hedging.
Great video! what are the fasteners used for the "moveable" catch wires? J bolts?? Where to do buy them? Lowes?
With the Vsp growing system how long do you let the shoots get.
It seems there is alot of energy wasted with all that growth
Great video!!
Good video thank you
