John Hobday was a great uncle of mine. My grandfather was born at Pecks Pond before there was a Pecks Pond. Spent a lot of time there when I was growing up. My dad who also grew up at Pecks Pond would tell me that there was the wreckage of an early airplane on High Knob. I never saw it. The power lines ruined the view several years ago.

I live here in Pike Co. and we are still p.o'd about that damned ugly power poles they put in about 6 yrs ago....
That's actually a reference mark for the USCGS benchmark. The arrow points towards the benchmark itself.

Hi Cliff, wow that was some climb/hike up there, it did say on the sign that it was the highest point in Pike County. A nice view but a shame about the pylons being in the way. A real shame that they cut all of those tree's down just because the fire tower was too low, why not just build a bigger tower, I guess that's too easy a solution 😠. I don't have a top ten.
I had a couple of suburbans I used for surf fishing and riding Mt roads in Lycoming, Potter, Tioga and other Pa counties. I carried a folding camp saw to cut cut up small tress across roads, , tow strap for getting my vehicle or others unstuck and pulling trees out of the way. , a come along for same as tow rope., and pieces of plywood to put under tires. A container of kitty liter for snow and ice.

It's hard to tell on camera how high it is from the bottom, it's not until you get to the top that you see how high it is.
