These cracks me up your just showing the fun side of ranching. we never see ranchers doing the bulk of their job, ( fixing and building fence , planting and harvesting hay and grain for feed, doctoring livestock, feeding and mucking out barn stalls, bucking and hauling hay or any of dozens of jobs that keep a ranch going. From these videos one would is all we do is push beef from one place to the next these is a small part of our year.
wiseguy436 lol in the summer all The doctoring I do is from the saddle. But making feed is somebody else’s job, I clean out the barn sure but my horse isn’t in there enough for it to need it much, and seeding that’s someone else too im still finishing calving and I got pairs to check lol you got the wrong cowboy job I think
Sounds better than most modern jobs, as they might be extremely easy compared to that but 0% gratificating. What I wouldn't give to be able to herd cattle using a horse... I ride already but to be able to use a horse to help do something productive would be a great feeling. The feeling of being productive AND doing what you love. I wish I had the chance.
Hunter Wolfe it’s the best feeling in the world I can tell you that right now. I don’t like trail riding cause I get bored but riding a green by myself when I’m training or riding through a herd of pairs by myself looking for sick calves to treat there is nothing better than the relationship you can build with a horse you use on a ranch that’s how life is supposed to be lived
What's it like to be a cowboy? Get up early for breakfast and in the saddle by 6:00 AM. Around 6:00 PM, that's time to call it a day and get supper. The only time we are out of the saddle between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM is to get off the horse to pee. A real cowboy don't pee on his saddle. The American cowboy will never die. There are some things that you can't do except on a horse.
JAG312 not sure where you live but we don’t quit at 6 pm most days because the days work isn’t over by then we mostly work day light hours unless it’s winter then that’s not half enough time. @@henryhenry903 I agree, I'm calling horsecrap on this guy's statement. Most ranch work is NOT done from horseback. Sounds like something a dude would say...
The culture of the cowboy, has its origin, in the north of the territory of Mexico, it is necessary to mention that the historical fund is in Chihuahua, Mexico, where the first cowboys emerged, as well as the first original cowboy hats. Cowboy acquired his lifestyle, clothing and work, from the Mexican cowboys who lived in the territory of Texas, in those days, Texas was part of Mexico, before the annexation of the territory to the United States, the US-American Cowboy was born of work of the Mexican cowboys of northern Mexico, who taught it to the US-Americans, the historic US-American cowboy of the late nineteenth century emerged from the cowboy traditions of northern Mexico and became a figure of special importance and legend of US-American Folklore becoming a cultural icon. Although the US-Americans do not admit it out of pride, the cowboy emerged with Mexican origins.
I grew up on my families ranch in Alberta. All I ever wanted to do was leave home and cowboy on the big outfits but I new I wasn't tough enough. My Dad couldn't spare me either so I stayed home. Here most of our time was not on a horse but I looked for every excuse to ride. We spent more time fixing fence, putting up feed and feeding cattle than anything else.
Harold Hunt well im a lucky Alberta boy then cause we lived close to a good size operation and started working there in the summers from 8 years old and it’s the only life I want to live other than my own operation but land is unaffordable as im sure you know, but this is the next best thing. To really know what cowboy Life was like read Stella Hughes book about her husband Mack Hughes "Hashknife Cowboy". Mack relates what it was to be a cowboy in the 1920-1930´s on the once great Hashknife Cattle Co. in Northern Arizona. It was not Hollywood! they were simple people taking whatever jobs they could get or as Mack Hughes said of the 30´s, "what depression? we were horse poor (meaning they had too many horses) we never had any Money, but somehow we managed".
Howdy, my name is Rawhide Kobayashi. I'm a 27 year old Japanese Japamerican (western culture fan for you foreigners). I brand and wrangle cattle on my ranch, and spend my days perfecting the craft and enjoying superior American passtimes. (Barbeque, Rodeo, Fireworks) I train with my branding iron every day, this superior weapon can permanently leave my ranch embled on a cattle's hide because it is white-hot, and is vastly superior to any other method of livestock marking. I earned my branding license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day. I speak English fluently, both Texas and Oklahoma dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about American history and their cowboy code, which I follow 100% When I get my American visa, I am moving to Dallas to work in an oil field to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become a cattle wrangler for the Double Cross Ranch or an oil rig operator for Exxon-Mobil! I own several cowboy hats, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to America, so I can fit in easier. I rebel against my elders and seniors and speak English as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond. Wish me luck in America!

Let's deport that part of history. Don't need no bean bags telling us where vanqueros came from.
Yellowstone has made me grow a interest in Cowboys
Well, that didn't tell us anything about what it's like to be a cowboy today.
as a cowboy the main reason the tradition is dying is because more children spend more time on their phones and there's hardly any money in it
There are still lots of cowboys around and will always be.
I don't see many videos about Montana. That's great. I live in Glen, Montana in Beaverhead county and we do the same thing with the cattle.
