WHY DID THIS COP PULL ME OVER?!

  • (Actually he's a Texas State Trooper.) I was just minding my own business, standing up on my passenger pegs, with one arm raised to the sky waving, while moving 65 MPH down the highway... LOL! My title choice seems to have attracted a few diligent angry people who want to believe that all cops are terrible, and have already attempted to criticize me, and school me regarding my rights. After all- this is America yes? Good then allow me the freedom to interact with people the way I choose. You have a cause? Excellent then make your own channel and preach! I have the right to delete any Alex Jones parroted rants, hostile comments, conspiracy theories, or obscene posts. I will not fill my day with debate. I am only interested in how we relate. I hope you all live to ride another day. :-) XOXO Uncle Mullet

Best cop encounter. My elderly mother knows the keypad number for my garage and that I have a security system. She tripped the alarm, I get the call and I'm 15min away. Security company called, I called my mom, down the line the responding officer was informed it was my mom but was already at the house. I rushed home to find a police officer and mom waiting. Cop says "I caught this young woman taking stuff out of your garage" I replied with "Good, if you see her loading more stuff in my garage then arrest her" Almost got a slap up side the head from mom. The officer had already loaded my mothers stuff in her vehicle himself. I shook his hand and told him thank you.

You know I love you guys; you're the best. The State Trooper did just the right thing; safety conscious, and his written warning was the least he could do without a dereliction of duty. I was impressed by how respectful he was towards you, how smart and well turned out he was, and for the way you both interacted with each other. You both represented the very best way in which to deal with such meetings. Kudos to you all. Oh, and if I see you standing up on the pegs at 65 again ... I'll kick your side stand!! 👮🏼 You know I'll do it too! LOL 🐶 Big love from the UK.

got pulled over once going about 100 on a 75mph highway, had a nice chat with the officer because it was my last day at my college and was driving home. Ended up only getting a warning! Some cops are super nice.

You and your wife make a great team and are truly wonderful people. You made a very valid point on how police officers are often portrayed and I do agree with you. I have met and dealt with both types, but I still respect them, because no one is perfect. I just hope others realize that, too. I am truly glad to hear your insight and draw much inspiration from what you share, and how you connect with people. I wish you well, be safe, and God be with you, always. P.S. I had two budgies, but Ernie spooked after landing between a door and my bookbag, hit the door, breaking his neck. I felt so bad.....Burt has adjusted and is doing VERY well. Birds are fragile and require careful handling, but are tough for their size lol.

I don't bad mouth Law Enforcement, I have friends and family that put their lives on the line daily, but I don't see how anyone can say how great this cop is. He had no reason to pull you over nor ask for ID. Your safety was not an concern of his. Once he saw that you were ok, he should have let you go.
    Uncle Mullet handled it well.

The trooper certainly did his job correctly. If I was in his position I would have probably took it as, "maybe this guy is trying to flag me for assistance" or something along those lines. As said there are bad apples in every bunch, but there is still good out there as you have shown. I aspire to become a police officer so maybe I can show people there are still good ones out there even if it is only one person at a time. To serve, protect, and help folks in need is what it's all about even as an everyday civilian. Just found your videos today and have been watching keep up the good work it's truly inspiring.

I retired from law enforcement in Texas, so I can give an educated response if anyone wants to hear. This is called a welfare stop. It doesn't have anything to do with probable cause or reasonable suspicion of a violation of law. If an officer sees someone that may have a problem or may be summoning for help, he can stop the vehicle and check on them or advise them. If a citizen sees something and flags you down, it is the same thing except that police are expected to look out for the safety others. You can ignore the officer's warning if you wish. You can leave when you want because you are not detained. This is not an investigatory stop. If he walks up and you're smoking weed, that's different. I didn't do these, because of the liability, unless I felt somebody needed help. Hate, violence, and lawsuits against police that honestly want to help make them calloused and eventually quit. So thank you for being courteous to him. I wish everyone would be cool to each other.

How can you get a warning for a legal activity? Standing on your pegs isnt illegal, neither is one hand. Sometimes it just feels good to cool off. Its ok to pull you over and see if you are ok, but the warning is a problem for me as well as the request for I.D. and you are getting a warning for a legal activity. He didnt seem like a bad guy, but there is NO reason to warn you and document you for a legal activity. Peace

I dont agree that the cop was an asshole... but i do believe that it was unnecessary to even cite you a warning rather than give you a verbal warning. But hey, I subbed because I love how optimistic you are. I stopped and helped a guy out a guy that was stranded, gave him 40 for a gas can and some gas. He said to meet me at the same spot the next day...I was disappointed when he didn't because I gave him $40 of the $50 I had in my account. I haven't told anyone this story but your optimism in your videos has spread to me and made me much happier with the things I do both big and small. Thank you :)

Conduct of both yourself and the officer was admirable. However I'd be a bit peeved if I got pulled for standing on my pegs. Not so much an issue on a cruiser but with my naked/sportbike if I dont stand up well I go over a rough patch of road or bump (pothole etc) then I'm going to whack my nuts off the tank. Also tend to stand up every now and then on long journeys to stretch my legs (again not so much an issue on a cruiser). Its perfectly safe though.

I'm an Ironworker and it's more deadly work than being a cop is, but it's a career we BOTH chose to pursue. Our lives are on the line, but if you make it through the day, safely, then you did one aspect of your job. Your job is more dangerous than a cops job, but I get the feeling that you also put that far back in your mind, and you should. Fear is gonna get a person killed, because it takes aways a person's concentration and creates doubt....Anyway, feel blessed you live in a more friendly area where crime is nothing like it is in an urban environment. I'm sure he has his stressful days and hectic ones, but he is not the same type of officer that metropolitan police depts are using. I'm not putting anyone down here either, just clarifying differences from a rural officer and an urban one. I also grew up in a small town myself and I get what you mean, they aren't all bad because of guys like him. But that is not what you're gonna face in a city. Career veterans over 10 years are the worst to deal with. They're jaded from seeing the worst in everyone, they have a form of occupational PTSD because of it. They also are held to varying standards of executing their job too. They say they don't have quotas, but they do have requirements to meet monthly. And because of those requirements, they are pressured to make more arrests, so they're less inclined to come off with a friendly demeaner, they're into treating the individual as a presumed criminal, so it's in the individual's best interest to keep silent because the cop is looking to get felony stops from minor traffic violations, since those are where the points are significant. Because of those pressures placed on them, they are gonna be assholes to people, it's just the reality of their world they operate in. Hope you can handle that, it is sincere and honest.

There is so much truth to your comment Kevin.
However I think that most of my interactions with anyone of authority usually go well because of a good attitude. But speak to any Black or Hispanic male and ask them their experiences specifically with police- sadly many of their stories are negative and all too common.
My older brother was executed by police. My brother lived in what some people call "the hood". Socioeconomic factors were contributing factors that added to this tragedy.

Condolences to your family for your brothers loss. I am sure that nothing will ever replace him.

Appreciate it, but you can move your way through this world in the way you wish and so can I. My mission is not to send messages to police. I did not receive any citation. It was a courteous warning for not having proof of insurance. If I do have messages to relay via my vids it's to promote good will.

Do you understand that in all of your comments that You are telling Me how to react to police stop? It comes across as a kind of liberal fascism. You can fight your battles- I'll fight mine. Getting a nice warning for not having proof of insurance = a good day in my book. But I also understand many of your points. We can be better people. Better people means better cops. I'm a medically retired Police Officer from a small town south of Fort Worth. I would have stopped you as well, as you said it looked weird and unsafe. but after we got that sorted out, you'd have had to show me your bike, as a cruiser rider my self, I'm a bike nut. to you and the Trooper please be safe out there.

Oh, +Uncle Mullet, I am so very sorry. I am a new subscriber, and had no idea about the loss of your brother. Losing any family member is extremely difficult, of course, but losing a sibling brings a grief that words can't even describe. I know this because I lost my big brother, who was also shot. His was a Line of Duty death. He was a CO with the same Sheriff's Office that our Dad worked for and many years later, retired from as the Chief Deputy. So, as a cop's kid, sister, niece, friend, and ex-wife (ha ha, but true), I thank you for your love and appreciation of law enforcement. CO Mark Parker EOW 03-19-09, 36-W:27 That last number is the location of my brother's name on the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial in Washington, DC. If there is ever something that can make you truly appreciate what LEOs endure and sacrifice, it is this memorial.

Thank you cousin Colleen! I wrote you a reply from my computer… But I'm not seeing it on the thread so forgive me if this is redundant. But thank you for your kindness and compassion!
My heart goes out to you for your loss as well. They say that death is a part of life but when it is so sudden, tragic, and very very public in the media - it can sting in ways that most people can't comprehend. I am grateful to still be here and to honor my brother and I am grateful to know the people like your brother dedicated their lives to protecting and serving others. Much love to you and yours. 💛

Go apple picking blindfolded, Pick 100 apples. You cant see them nor smell or touch just grab and pick 100. Now take your blindfold off. Do you think you will have 100 ripe pristine good apples. I dont think so. Moral any group is a mixed bag of good and bad. Cant say 1 group is good or bad till you take blindfold off and see for yourself

Nice to hear. There are some great/good/mediocre/bad cops. Humans everywhere have bits of an angel and a devil within their nature. On occasion a good cop might do a bad or incompetent/poor judgment ("heat of the moment") thing, which sucks if it happens to you. Hopefully bad cops doing bad things are the rare exception, but all powers have a natural corrupt corrosion worth being vigilant against as a society.

LOL!!!! Well here's the truth- when a cop pulls you over and your plates are expired (mine were) and you can't produce proof of insurance ( although the bike is insured) AND the bike is not registered in my name yet... add to that most every cop stop is documented/recorded and scrutinized by that cops superiors (plus he sees MY camera so he knows has to follow his standard operating procedure's)- a warning just serves to document that he is doing his job even though he obviously extended some serious courtesy to me.

Amen Brother! Now in my youth before I had gained the wisdom and experience life grants a man, made some mistakes and ended up spending some time in the Ca Corrections System. I have seen many, many men who through that type of experience become jaded and cynical. The Lord tells us not to harden our hearts and learn and better ourselves through our trials and tribulations. I respect police officers and appreciate the job they do. I seriously like your attitude brother and just wanted to say god bless and keep spreading your good message

There are good tradesmen and bad tradesmen. there are bad lawyers and good lawyers, and go figure? there are good cops and bad cops. I once crashed my car on a dirt road, wasn't paying 100% attention but not being silly , and the cop realised this, He said to me "So it just jumped out in front eh", I said um.. what do you mean?...he said "It's a good thing You're insured for accidents caused by wildlife" .."oh..yeah, thanks" -I said.- He saved me thousands! an absolute legend. But I've also had a cop fine me $375 for littering, for a bit of plastic my daughter threw out of the car window when a cop was behind us.

I appreciate seeing that there is someone else that shares my opinion on Law Enforcement, and judging by your attitude and the way you act, I don't think you're lying and I will just have to trust you, sorry for your loss, and that is very respectable that you still understand there's good and bad in this world.

NewesSkiller I agree, and I have agreed with that before you said that. No one is really broken though, feeling bad for the cops and their families while fixing the issue is possible.
